Thanks to 2005 Board member John TheDestroyer for sharing in our boards some in-hand images of the new Transformers Kingdom Core Class Vertebreak.
Vertebreak is a new character and mold for the Kingdom Wave 1 Core class together with Optimus Prime and Rattrap. He transforms into a dinosaur skeleton (or fossil if you prefer). A very unique design which makes him look like a skeleton warrior in robot mode. As with other Kingdom fossil-styled characters (like Paleotrex and Ractonite), Vertebreak shows a Predacon insignia.
Check out the mirrored images on this news post and then let us know your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

I'm pretty sure they're in the US, because I am and my box arrived really quick and didn't have any sort of international labels on it. I thought they were slated for next year too, but I'm not complaining lol
Shmoptimus Prime
Thanks! So they're canadian, or american? I'm a bit confused by this place. Isn't kingdom supposed to debut at the beginning of next year? Or was the core class always slated to arrive early?
John TheDestroyer
Got mine here. They only have the 3 pack still available I think

I'm sad that I can only like these once.
Shmoptimus Prime
Definitely. I think it's just them being lazy, TBH. You can get a half-assed alt mode out of guys like SS Shockwave that look fine without coming apart.
Agreed. It's why I never get headmasters even though I like the concept, because most of them REQUIRE you to remove the head to transform them.
Did I miss some preorder or something? How is everyone getting these early? I checked all the usual places like ebay.
Dachande
Total agreement here.

I think the Core Class is going to be my bread and butter if it goes on beyond Kingdom. I would love to see more of the dinos, but also more like Prime. I still desire a Megatron in that scale to lead my Legion/Cyberverse figures.

Got mines a few days ago, these are some well done figures

Whatever gender Vertebreak is, they have a classic Beast Wars face. All they'd be lacking is a grimace. The organic "bone helmet" and unorthodox google-eyes feel like a lot of the more creative face designs BW and later UT would experiment with.
This is my philosophy. A Transform should stay one single piece when going between complete modes. There's rare exceptions, but it especially bothers me if a character who's never done it before now has to.
John TheDestroyer
That's been my biggest gripe with the weaponizer style figures. Imo they should be more like the upcoming Kup figure with the removable limbs, where it's a full transforming figure on its own, and then separating at the joint and limbs and stuff to become weapons and armor is just a side gimmick that's not necessary for functionality
Shmoptimus Prime
Thanks! Cool poses, especially for a $10 figure. And yeah, I think the face is definitely feminine in some ways. I'm gonna say that plus the hips are making her female in my mind. I love this concept in general too, and I actually prefer that this one doesn't come apart to transform like the other fossilizers (for me it's fine to come apart for play features but for transformation to involve coming apart is not appealing).
Have I said how much I love the core class yet? Cause I already love the core class.

Amusingly enough the Dracorex was rather puny, so I struggle to see him as being as big as a truck.

Figure looks cool. I am certain the backstory of these guys is going to go on another level of cringe though. Happy to be proven wrong….
John TheDestroyer
She seems like a very large and in charge kinda lady. This is accurate scale in my new headcanon

yeah that part also,
Im going with those wide hips.

It's not so much the body as just the face design that strikes me as a she

With no waist or thigh swivels and ankles a bit limited due the the ball and socket design, posing is a bit tricky. Rattrap is much better for posing imo, even though he also lacks a waist swivel. I gave it my best shot though

Would love to see some more "actioney" poses @John TheDestroyer if you don't mind

I definitely think it's being colored by POTP Slash. Were this a small Triceratops or something else I don't think the reaction would be the same.

Look at the shoulder to hip ratio on screamer. He fits more of the lanky male body type.
I need a front facing shot of vetrebreak in bot mode with his arms in a relaxed position
T-Hybrid
In fairness, he wouldn't be the first male robot to have more feminine features.
