Hasbro, via their social media channels, have just posted a “making of” video of the new exclusive packaging of the recently revealed Takara Tomy “Golden Lagoon” Transformers reissues for the US market.
These figures are exactly the same that Takara Tomy released while back in 2018, but featuring a new exclusive box art. The video shows Optimus Prime and Soundwave drawing process by Hasbro’s senior artist Damasso Sanchez. Great pieces of art for sure.
Watch the video below and some key screencaps after the break and then sound off your impressions non the 2005 Board!

All but Prime had around 130 units or less

People get so mad whenever a good quality non-transforming Transformer figure or kit gets announced, then this fragile, pointless and overpriced repaints get sold out in hours. Some times this is a really baffling fanbase to be a part of lol
But hey, if you like them, go for it.

I got tree so i have Starscream, Thundercracker & Skywarp.
i can say that they look really nice
jametron
I can paint any of these figures gold for FAR less money, so… NOPE!
Gumblor Gimbles
Actually yeah, that would be pretty good.
Q Prime
Well, I wouldn't mind reissues of some of the UW guys,

I got Starscream a fee years ago off of TFsource for $40. One of the only purchases I ever made with them, and I’ve been happy with him since. If you loved Combiner Wars and never owned a version CW Starscream, I’d encourage some to hop on it. Especially since he seems to have the best gold chrome to bare plastic ratio of the bunch. But then again, if you own Skydive, you already know what you are getting.
A part of me also honestly wonders if this wasn’t in some way a “last hurrah” from Takara when it came to the chromed Lucky Draw figures, as those have halted since.

It's a Facebook video. Do you have Facebook (or Facebook's content network fbcdn.net) blocked?
BB Shockwave
Weird, I see an empty place on the news page instead of the video.
Oniconvoy
There’s no gold plastic on these figures.

Could the music be any worse? Or more annoying?
P.S. Overpriced GOLD plastic syndrome TFs…MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (Seinfeld's voice) good luck with aaaallllll That!
ziltama
Gold plastic syndrome is not a typical issue with current day figures. I'm not worried about it at all with either of these figures.

If you like Combiners, I say get him…but why not three? You would have GL Starcream, GL Thundercracker, and GL Skywarp.
I got the first release to use as a limb with POTP Blastoff, POTP Dreadwind, POTP Blackwing, with CW Cyclonus… but he was too badass to be made into a limb, so a junkion was recruited instead.
Also, the fact that GL Starscream's 'gold' combiner hand/foot is now officially one of artifacts in the manga for Generations Selects God Neptune is a fun bonus.

I'm not terribly interested in the Golden Lagoon set. However, I'm a little worried about Roritchi, what with him being gold.
ziltama
This is our Golden Lagoon Starscream from the original POTP era release next to the most recent gold plastic figure, Black Roritchi.

Mp-10 was the only one I wanted badly but like the others I just can’t see myself going after, mainly because the amount of fingerprints and paint chipping that I can see happening with these guys. Idk maybe I’m wrong
