Artist Ken Christiansen, via his Facebook account, has shared with us his Earthrise Arcee Concept Art.
Ken has worked with Hasbro designing several toys for different lines, and he shows us his early design of Autobot Arcee. As we can see from the image, the art is very close to Arcee’s G1 movie model sheet, and providing an additional side view and color keys.

Dude, have you seen G1 based Transformers before? They all have humanoid faces. Some have mustaches and beards for goodness sakesView attachment 28835494 View attachment 28835495
Same guy!

Transformers are not Robots, they are cybernetic life forms.
MrNiceGuy
well if there's any G1 character would benefit from a R.E.D. figure…

I really don't understand why more Arcee toys don't just throw in the towel on the alt mode. I mean the robot mode is clearly what's important to most fans, so why not sacrifice alt mode aesthetics for less kibble?

You're not the only one, I'm not sure who thought It would be a great idea to give a robot (a female robot at that) lips l, It isn't helped by the human like rights design they gave her. it's giving me the insinuation that she's a human with robot parts instead of an actual robot.

CannonBlaster
They should’ve just had her turn into a humanoid car

I like how these Earthrise concept art pics (especially this one) are just artwork of the character before they realized they had to make compromises for the toy.

It doesn\'t looks like her ER design.
Novaburnhilde
Damn nice artwork.
Despite the parts-forming I do like Earthrise Arcee, she has a lovely headsculpt.

Yet they missed the mark by a wide margin. I guess the artist didn't account for backpack-forming.

It's her attitude not a description.
The Madness
I don\'t mean to be condescending, but you guys do know what concept art is right? I understand there is a precedent of artwork with refined designs well into the process of design development, but that isn\'t an actual requirement at all. I mean, its been stated already that the robot mode figure was the priority for arcee and this would be one of the works used as inspiration.

How in the HELL is this concept art for Earthrise Arcee? Could it possibly be this is actually concept art for an upcoming RED figure?
Mercutio
Does this actually qualify as new design work? It's literally just G1 Arcee, down to the tiny shoulder kibble. There's nothing here that takes into account the details or physical reality of the Earthrise toy.
I'd call the concept for the toy itself the Earthrise design. This "concept art" is just a reproduction of the animation model from the movie, as posted on the first page of this thread.

Arcee is being rereleased in Kingdom. I think she’s slightly repainted, but I could be wrong.
SPLIT LIP
It's not odd. Many figures released so far have had concept art posted after the fact.

odd how we\'re getting concept art this could maybe mean something right? RIGHT!?
POSSESSED_DIGIT
HA! Thanks for that…

Just add some lines here and there, it makes it look so unique and new
Duskscream
So the "concept" is just copy the G1 model and then have the toy designers throw it out the window?
