Thanks to 2005 Board Member transform75 we have our first in-hand images of the Transformers Generations Selects Tigertrack.
This is a special yellow redeco of the Siege Sideswipe mold inspired by the original Figure King Magazine exclusive Tigertrack toy released in 2003. We have a nice gallery of this new Tigertrack incarnation including comparison shots next to the original Siege Sideswipe mold and other War For Cybertron molds.
Check out all the images on this news post, as well as transform75 video review, after the jump. Click on the discussion link below and let us know your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

I don’t agree with the first thing you said (I don’t think budget cuts explain the things you are talking about) but I do agree that the color choices for Sunstreaker help the design of the robot mode—vehicle mode not-so-much. I mentioned in another thread that the difference in tone isn’t even all that noticeable in warm lighting (sorry if you are stuck on using white true color or fluorescent lighting everywhere in your house!) but it is a somewhat peculiar design decision that I understand can irritate a certain type of person.

I like Tigertrack, but making that windshield clear wasn't the best idea.

I just got an email from Pulse, Tigertrack is out for delivery today!
DarkProwler
I'd like to know, too. I preordered alongside Rotostorm and Centurion Drone, both of which I've received. It'd be nice to close out that ordered.

Does anyone know when this is going to come out?

This guy is gonna look great with one of the black nonnef spoilers

Thank you for explaining more in detail about why it's hard to color match yellow when dealing with different surfaces.

whoa what happened with that windshield?
Did they learn nothing from Gigawatt?

I honestly thought this dude was out and had just come and gone. I feel like I've been seeing leaks of it for sooo long that I had just missed the boat. dude looks cool though and would look great with the up coming Streaker twins. I guess that just leaves Deepcover and Clampdown of the original Lambo repaints?

While the colour-matching on ER SUnstreaker is indeed quite bad; I'll mention that TBF, painting something with yellow paints are significantly more difficult to work with than literally any other colour without any preparations like white primer surfacer; mostly due to the pigments needed to create the colour shade in yellow, where there is no pigment that is both strongly yellow (i.e. that absorb blue strongly but pass/reflect red and green) and opaque.
So if you try to put, say, your standard bright yellow paint down on top of white, it will look fine because the light goes through the pigment, bounces off the white surface underneath, comes back out through the pigment, and what you see is the original white light with all the blue sucked out, so it looks yellow.
But if you put that same pigment down on top of black, the light goes in through the pigment, hits the black surface where most of it is absorbed, and there's no light left! It just looks black still. And no matter how much paint you put down, you'll never get to yellow.
Even in the feedback thread of Generations Selects Tigertrack, I also briefly mentioned that despite all of the yellow paint on Tigertrack matched up almost perfectly, you can still actually see some tiny shade difference on the yellow paint on the translucent canopy pieces compared to the rest of the yellow colours on Tigertrack.

Definitely a buy for me!

I like that bot mode but that clear windshield in alt mode just doesn't look good to me. Still not regretting POing it cuz I love Dia Homages and I absolutely love bright yellow colors and this dude pulls it off well but I really DO hope that if an Earthrise Sideswipe happens that we get this guy in that mode as well cuz then he'll truly shine.
I kind of agree with this. I don't own Earthrise Streaker yet but even on the MP figures having the two be different does let them stand apart nicely. Admittedly though with those I do find myself wishing Tigertrack had actually had the brighter yellow but I guess it makes for a funny little reversal here.

Thanks much appreciated
Did one of Hot House too. Not sure if there are in hand postings of that figure yet.

Earthrise had noticeable budget cuts that affected many figures ranged from poor QC (bad paint apps and terrible tolerances like on Grapple that lead to mass breakages) to fewer paint apps and more visible gaps than Siege.
Now, engineering wise there were definite improvements, but at least Kingdom looks like it's going back into more paint apps and more budget put into the figures like in Siege (even if Siege spent more of it on battle damage paint than it should have).
I actually don't mind the different shades on Sunstreaker for the paint and the plastic. I think having multiple color shades helps break up the design a bit, while still adhering to his mostly yellow color scheme. Similarly to how RG Gundams have multiple shades of all of the colors, though of course, I'm sure here it's not intentional like it is on the Gundams, but it doesn't bother me.

I\'m so down if toyhax gives it a decepticharge treatment.

Same, bought him back in late Sept, too. Haha didn't know he was not released in the US yet.

It's pretty nice, honestly.. lol

Color matching yellow on transparent plastic is a notoriously hard thing to do. So yeah they could use the same paint, but it would look just as (if not) worse. Not to mention that the camera makes the difference even more apparent while in hand it is a lot better.
