Appearing in an online conference by the Bank Of America, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner stated that they are working hand in hand with Entertainment One (eOne for short) to produce various entertainment projects based on Hasbro properties.
Hasbro will also be producing toys for eOne’s original pre-school brands. From Fall 2021 onward, Hasbro will manufacture toys for Peppa Pig (current license-holder: Jazwares) and PJ Masks.
Brian Goldner mentioned that live action production was shutdown in 2020 due to COVID-19, but animated projects went ahead without any problems from Q2 onward. While not specified, this comment may or may not include the upcoming Transformers Live Action Movie and the Animated Movie by Josh Cooley.
However, Hasbro is hoping to restart pre-production and production of Live Action content from November 2020.
Regarding the Snake Eyes Live Action Movie, Mr. Goldner only mentioned that the movie shifted from 2020 to Fall 2021.
An undisclosed Action Man project is in the vault to be developed by eOne. Hasbro mentioned the following:
“Action Man is an incredibly strong brand particularly in Europe. To remind some people: Action Man was G.I. Joe’s European brother; effectively during the original launch period. European children really enjoyed Action Man programming, live action commercials, and other toys & games around that brand. That’s a brand [planned] for reinvention.”
In addition to that, an undisclosed project based on M.A.S.K. was also mentioned.
“We own a brand called M.A.S.K. which was a brand from the 70s and the 80s. It was a competitor at that time to Transformers, that we got through an acquisition that we’re now redeveloping.”
Hasbro had high praise for Transformers: War For Cybertron Netflix series, and stated the following:
“Transformers: War For Cybertron is a fan-oriented television series in animation on Netflix and it’s really driving engagement. I think we’re at a place for the audience to understand where streamed content has now reached such a pivotal point of inflection; where there’s enough content consumption to drive merchandising success. We always believed that we would arrive at this point of inflection and that’s why we had worked on getting more capabilities in storytelling.”
You can check out the rest of the slate, after the jump.

At this point, I’m just wishing Hasbro does a stand alone ‘The Baroness’ movie with the same grittiness and violent action as John Wick or Hitgirl’s action sequences in the Kickass movies. Won’t have a problem if they tinkered with her origins/back story a bit. All set before she joined Cobra and a time that Cobra disbands.
Baroness is supposed to come from Eastern Europe or Russia. But in my vision, she is Mexican and human trafficking victim at 12 years old – abused and exploited, her parents murdered in front of her by decapitation.
She eventually gets revenge when she murders her captors and tormentors & escaped, until she comes across a drug cartel boss who adopts her and treated her with respect seeing her as the daughter the cartel boss never had. He sends her for paramilitary training, provides her with excellent education in several languages, then becomes one of his trusted assassins and intelligence gatherer.
she was eventually sent to Eastern Europe to assassinate a crime lord who has fallen in favor with the drug cartel boss because of allegations he was stealing from the cartel boss but she was captured by russian intelligence.
russian intelligence saw so much potential In her, continues her training & education until she is the elite of the elite and adopts Russian intelligence code name Anastasia Cisarovna and her entire pre-Russian intelligence identity erased.
before she dons the cobra leather and vest and boots and post-Cobra, she would be wearing leather jackets & pants, shirts, tank tops, business dresses, tactical vests, she’d be using thermal & flir goggles, she’d be a martial arts master (hitgirl/John wick/Black Widow fighting styles), she’d be able to handle a wide array of pistols, rifles & melee weapons with ease and grace. She’d be a similar character as John Wick: an anti-hero(ine) who became the way she was because of her life circumstances and she had to do what she had to do.
down the line she would gain eternal youth, eternal life, rapid healing, impervious to all disease and hunger when she takes an elixir developed by a ragtag team of disbanded cobra scientists. This circle of 12 including Baroness who received the elixir would form the secret and trusted Baroness core, while Baroness continues to work as an assassin/enforcer.
They need to hire an actress who looks close to this

I was all about MASK as a kid but in retropect it was because of the toys really. The cartoon doesnt hold up and the recent IDW comic was awful.

Essentially piggy backing elements from the revolution cross over event……im totally down for that.

Cool to finally see some progress on Micronauts. These "Hasbroverse" properties have been stuck in development so long that it's hard to get excited for them.

im only in on micronauts movie and Visionaries project if they are based on the IDW versions, if not, im out

MASK feels like a B-movie ripoff of a better movie to me.
Your mileage may vary.
I need to check out their press statement, but it didn’t seem like they have any new properties in the works. At least not from what I’m hearing from members here. I’d rather they come up with something new and fresh instead of trying to revive something like MASK.

Didnt know M.A.S.K. was around in the 70s.

Action Man, the greatest hero of them all!
Cool. Would be good to see those toys make a comeback. Dolls for boys are awesome!

I still think Cyberverse blows the Netflix show out of the water. Though in WFC's defense, it's only on its first season.

You hear anything on Nezha: Transformers?
Novaburnhilde
I really hope it's not true, because Cyberverse is so painfully boring and safe that does nothing particularly well. It's the 'kid' version of the Netflix show, or the 'kid' equivalent of the Machinima trilogy.
Make something better, please.

I'd be cool that if for the next main show they're doing for family section of Transformers it'd be something BW related to go along with how Hasbro's celebrating BW's 25th anniversary next year.

I'd love some MASK stuff. The toys were cool, and provided something different from Transformers. I'd love to see them do something that draws cues from the Human Alliance stuff, alongside the Takara Diaclone reboot, but a bit more present-day for the designs. I think there's a solid niche for that to exist alongside Transformers.
I think the fiction has to drive any sort of resurgence of this property, though, and the fiction has been sadly lacking for a long time. I'm glad to see Transformers get on Netflix. From my experience, if it's not on YouTube or Netflix (or for some kids, Disney+) it basically doesn't exist. They need to look at the fiction as their loss leader that helps them sell toys like they did in the 80's. WFC on Netflix is a good first step.
My ideal project would involve a step up in the quality of the writing for the series. Look at striking an A:TLA tone with them -kid-oriented, but anyone can enjoy the series.
What would I do if I were hired to be in charge of this on Hasbro's end? Why, I'm glad you asked! Personally, I think the problem with both MASK and GI Joe is that the day of enormous fucking plastic vehicles is done, done done. Plastic is too expensive, and it requires a cultural movement to drive sales of those big things, the kind we're not likely to see with things being so fragmented. To that end, I'd look at shrinking down MASK, and putting them in the same universe as Transformers fictionally. I'm thinking something along the lines for the FansProject Solerons for posability. MASK would be the humans that the Autobots shared tech with, really playing up the angle of the Autobots losing the battle for earth and their need to get some help. The toys would focus on masks and power armor, along with vehicles with lots of gimmicks to help them "keep up" with the Transformers. The play element would be armoring up and down, changing the vehicles between covert and battle mode. Sales-wise, they would provide options at the smaller price points as well as larger ones, a price point that often feels forced with the Transformers line.
Just a pipe dream, I know, but I think something like that would work well.

PLEASE bring back M.A.S.K.!

I hope thats code for voice actors, not writers.

I did hear a rumor. Cannot confirm at the moment. But groundwork is being laid for the next show. Boulder is once again involved. Several talent from Cyberverse are also involved. But the planning barely started. I wouldn't expect any content until 2022.
