Available to interested readers for what we can only hope will be a longer purchase window than the botched Walmart launch of counterpart toy Gigawatt earlier this month, IDW Publishing announced details on their incoming Transformers x Back To The Future four issue comic miniseries:
“When I was asked to write the official crossover comic, I could only shout ‘Great Scott’ and dive in,” says writer Cavan Scott. “It’s the perfect fit. Both Transformers and Back to the Future are packed with adventure, humor, and (most importantly) heart. Plus, it gave me a chance to play with multiple Transformers timelines, harkening back to some of my favorite Transformers storylines of the ‘80s, while also bringing in elements of all three Back to the Future movies. Look out for classic characters, both human and Cybertronian, and a few surprises along the way!”
Artist Juan Samu says, “All my life I have waited for this moment! This amazing project, apart from being an authentic journey through time for me, has brought out my inner child in every scene. The Autobots, Decepticons, Marty, and Doc are so iconic that I feel super-excited to be able to draw them! Thanks to IDW, NBC Universal, and Hasbro for giving us this opportunity!”
Remember to catch the creative team’s Comic-Con@Home panel tomorrow, then join in the discussion on the 2005 boards!

I'd be down for a Jurassic Park crossover at the very least especially when it'll be time for Hasbro to delve into 90's related crossovers with Transformers once the 80's phase has been finished.

WINNAR!

The manure truck Biff crashes in to.

Yes, by all means crossovers that are also aimed at the fans of the other franchises should be filled with niche TF characters that are completely unknown to the readers who might not be long-term TF fans.
It's not like using TF evergreen characters known even to the people who do not focus on the TF franchise might be, I don't know, making more sense and whatnot…
Tetratron
Would be fun if each issue takes place in one of the time periods of the films; 1985, 1955, 2015, alternate-1985, and 1885.
Night Flame
So excited to see what vehicle mode Prime has in the fifties.

Yes, yes we are. I demand more from the Ladybird story books!
T-Hybrid
We're like 4 months away from a BW revival that'll likely last past 2021. Are we gonna spend all of that time complaining that we're still not getting enough other continuities?
Smitty.1981
You do know that Back to the Future is about time travel right?
T-Hybrid
People also gotta ask themselves what role Beast Wars of all things would have a in a BttF crossover.
With Kingdom coming, there's going to be a plethora of beast modes to play with. At which point I could easily see Jurassic Park, Jaws, Godzilla, Kong…etc…style crossovers that'd fit with BW.
Rodimus Prime
Why would an 80s nostalgia bait crossover have characters from the 90s or 2000s?
Licensing for Trek stuff is a nightmare from what I have heard.
T-Hybrid
I really really hope part of the story includes the Time Train also transforming…because I will go to my grave wanting a retool of ER Astrotrain.

Only just noticed that this is being written by Cavan Scott, who is a very prolific Doctor Who writer, and a rather good one at that. He oversaw the Forge arc, a very popular storyline from the audio dramas. Here’s hoping this is just as good. If nothing else, it shows he knows his way around a good time travel story.
Always kind of weird when a big name from one franchise you love makes the jump to another franchise you love.
Windsweeper II
Yay! Classic characters. That's something we never get in any other crossover. Those are always jam packed with rarely featured characters from late G1, Beast Wars and the UT.

You\'re telling me, you built a Transformer out of a DeLorean?

I didn’t see the part in the press release where they mentioned it would be a Walmart exclusive on the day of release, which may or may not be the day listed, and that the first printing would be limited to 1,985 copies.
Smitty.1981
The thing is they were going to do one but a fight broke out over weather to do T. Max or shuttle craft Sopk. The was name calling, papers thrown desks flipped. Mark punched John in the throat. The whole thing was canceled after that.
