Third Party company Zeta Toys, via their Weibo account, have uploaded images of their Zeta-EX10 Spacetron (G1 Astrotrain).
3P Collectors may recognize that this is in fact a metallic redeco of Toyworld Devil Star / Evila Star, in cartoon accurate colors. Robot mode stands around 22 cm for those wondering about scale. We still have no concrete information on price or release date, but stay tuned with TFW2005 for more updates.
A good chance to grab this mold if you missed it back in the day. Check all the mirrored images after the break and then sound off your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Yeah, I've been eyeballing that all week trying to resist double dipping
TF Hot Rod
IDK if anyone saw this yet but repaint incoming.

I've got the tfcon exclusive and the bot itself suffered over time, so it's no longer on my shelf. The track however is mint in the box because I never felt the need to take it out of the box to display, since I was initially quite disappointed with it. Planned on selling it with a few other items to help fund a few new additions. I can post up a couple pics a biy later of it. Would rather see it go to someone who needs it than sit around here or on eBay, if you're interested

Alright, I got him into train mode just fine. I actually thought shuttle to train was easier than bot to shuttle. The only issue I had was that one of the wing assemblies didn't want to pull out and down to wrap under the train. I had to really force it out, but it worked in the end.

Neither of his transformations was that bad, in the end. I found both to be quite manageable once you understand what panels go where and how they align/tab together. Overall, I'm very happy with him for the price. The alt modes both look great, and the robot mode brings to mind the look of the G1 toy, which is fine by me.
The Happenin Rhinoceros
Transformed him to shuttle mode…a little bit fiddly with lining up panels, but not bad once you get used to it. Looks great once there and absolutely blows other Astrotrain shuttle modes out if the water. Going for the train mode tonight, and that's the one I've heard some horror stories about.
As long as its not Badcube War Dog levels of bad…

I don't own any FT figures, but I know the transformation on this thing (well, the Toyworld version that I bought) is hot garbage. Soooo look forward to that.

Anyone know where I can find a track piece (3D print?) that would fit this like the one that came with the TF con exclusive? Or a piece/size of model train track that would fit for display?
The Happenin Rhinoceros
I honestly hate the notion that anything that isn't the current slavish toon look is CHUG and not MP. When I started collecting MP they didn't look like that, lol.
But like you said, people have an odd knee jerk reaction to this that makes no sense given the context and market for it. Personally, I wouldn't touch a Fanstoys figure with a 10-foot pole since I (1) like to transform and mess around with my figures, (2) don't like cartoon accuracy at all, and (3) am far more influenced by stylized designs and toy influences. But geez…I don't go around the FT threads shitting all over them. It might not be for me, but I'm happy for those who are getting what they want. That's the beauty of this hobby. Eventually, there's something for everybody if you have the patience.
There's a difference between "it's bad" and "I don't personally like it." Strange that it's so hard for so many to tell the difference.

I never understood people's reaction to this figure. It's not masterpiece, it never was, it was always chug to go alongside Hegemon. I see people online saying FT Thomas is better and I shake my head.
The Happenin Rhinoceros
Just got mine and got him opened up. I haven't transformed him yet, but I kind of love him right off the bat. Paint is very nicely done and while I was initially disappointed at the lightweight feel since older TW bots or Zeta re-releases I've bought have shit-tons of diecast, he seems pretty sturdy for the weight. I don't feel like anything is going to snap off or anything. Also seems like some of the issues are fixed. I read a lot on the TW version having loose wings that slide down, loose joints, etc. and I have no such issues, everything is nice and tight.
If you're a fan of the cartoon and that's what you live and die by…yeah, this isn't for you at all. If you're like me and G1 Astrotrain was your favorite damn toy when you were 8 years old, then you'll probably love him as he looks like a nicer, updated version of the G1 toy with improved articulation. I'm still keeping my Chigurh preorder for something that will be a bit taller and fit better in my MP scaled shelf, but the only regret I have on this one is not being around the TF scene when it was available in the original toy deco. If they release it again with that paint scheme, they can guarantee I'll double-dip on it.

Just got mine in hand. Lightweight figure, really nice detailing on his guns, cool molded detail on train alt mode and wheel gimmick is fun, intuitive transformation from bot to train but had a thick tab that popped off the first time I got it together and pulled back apart, gently I thought. Recommend to get your fine sandpaper/nail file out before you start transforming. It was a tab on the shuttle mode exterior that holds the legs together in train mode.
bobagorof
I think it will sell for those who don't want to spend an extra $175 on the alternative.
I was initially interested but after watching some reviews of the Toyworld release, I'll hold off.
firelancer120
I think it was sell if the robot mode didnt look like hot garbage lol
Conran
$55 or $60 it may of gone into my customiser fodder basket, at $75 it'd be better value to pay a hooker to spit in my mouth and slap me.
PurpleAndBlackSmokeStacks
Well, it does look better with the chest-wings.
octobotimus
Think we need to add (5 year old mold) Into the title.
Memph99Q4Ev
The veh modes have merits, that bot mode is bout 8 years late, though.
ChromeMagnus
That robot mode….meh. FT looks MUCH better.
The Happenin Rhinoceros
Yep, that's what everything seems to indicate. For some odd reason I had it in my head he was smaller. Which makes the argument that Siege Astrotrain is equally sized for an MP shelf even more ridiculous.
