Thanks to SwiftTransform on Youtube, we have a good set of in-hand images of the rumored War For Cybertron Earthrise “Sleep Mode” Optimus Prime.
As seen in our first image of this figure, this is a redeco of Earthrise Leader class Optimus Prime inspired by Optimus Prime’s death scene from the classic Transformers The Movie animated film. We have a black and gray Optimus Prime with some new remolds and details showing battle damage parts. The images show Optimus with a pair of guns, but they seem to be generic weapons from other toys. We have some comparison shots next to the original Earthrise Leader Optimus Prime figure. We still have no official confirmation of this supposed “Sleep Mode” repaint, but stay tuned with TFW2005 for more updates.
Check out all the images on this news post, as well as a video review, after the jump. Let us know your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Good grief Charlie B… another dead Optimus??!!! The first one didn't sell to hot here, did it sell out in other countries or something?

I have not been able to find this discussed elsewhere on TFW2005.
Trans Formers Alternate Universe Optimus Prime Ex-17 | eBay
According to photos in this Japan-based eBay listing, the recent TakaraTomy release of ER EX-17 Alternate Universe Optimus Prime employs Generations Selects packaging.
Hmm. Perhaps this will be the case for SG-EX Soundblaster and SG-EX Rainmakers at the end of this month.

Good luck finding one on the secondary market. It's been a long time since that came out, and iGear's been long out of business (some rumours are that they eventually reformed into what became ToyWorld, but they didn't bring any of their old toolings along in that transition).

That's awesome, I gotta get me one of those!
Thanks for the link!

I posted that without saying what I meant to say originally, shoot. My AU Optimus has the chest issue to a severe degree.
Anytime I see the standard Optimus in stores, his chest also seems slightly crooked within the packaging. Is this due to a similar issue with a misfired pin? I’d like to get the Netflix WFC version of the figure, but not if the factory just can’t do it right.

A “like” just means that you agree with the sentiment or appreciate the post. If you like a post about someone’s grandma dying, it doesn’t mean you like that their grandma died. It means you like that they’re being open with their feelings.
Shattered Trousers
I don't use any social media platforms, so I'm a little vague on the etiquette for "likes."
Is it just an acknowledgment "I saw your post" or is it, as the name suggests "I like what you posted"?
I don't feel right suggesting that I like it when somebody's toy breaks or that I like seeing your toy arrived defective.

I’m trying to remember where I heard it. I’ve dug up a few links of general QC defectiveness.

If I find the feet issue, I’ll add it to this post. I think I saw someone complain about it with their set on this board.

I’m a bit miffed that your post showing a horribly constructed figure had zero likes, whilst all the positive posts have a bunch of likes. Lads, even if your figure was good, doesn’t mean you should ignore posts about defects.

Thanks! That medical bed came from the 3rd party Igear Computer Control Center playset.

That's what I thought, I've only heard about paint chipping with them really

The Coneheads don't have fragile feet issues. Paint may flake off, but that's about it. Slamdance did have a foot issue, though.

Sounds like the seekers need sneakers… Sneekers?
Fenrys
This is the first I'm hearing of the seekers having fragile feet
Vector Oracle
I’ve noticed that some of the other recent Amazon exclusives have QC issues. Siege Slamdance’s feet have a tendency to shatter because of the thin red plastic on his ankles and the Seekers in the ER Ramjet/Dirge 2-pack have fragile feet that break at the slightest touch. It’s a shame because returning them and hoping the replacement will be better is a bit more of a gamble compared to physical retail.

Of course there are different types of plastic used on the same figure, that's how action figures work. You cannot use same type of plastic for large flat areas, for transparent parts, for joints, for areas which are supposed to flex during the transformation… I am no materials expert, but I'd say Hasbro uses at least 2-3 types of plastic on every figure. LEGO uses at least 10 different types for plastic
