ThreeZero is back with another Premium Scale release! This go round is for Bumblebee from the Bumblebee Movie in all his Volkswagen Beetle glory. Their smaller scale DLX figure was a hit last year, striking the perfect balance of movie accuracy and price. The Premium Scale continues in their original larger format series. He stands 14 inches tall, features light up eyes, headlights and gun, has multiple accessories, alternate heads and more. Paint and detailing are top notch, it looks like weathered metal even at the closest distances.
ThreeZero was kind enough to send through an early copy to review. We’ve run him for 110+ shots, which you can see in full here. You can also read on after the break to see some key shots and additional thoughts.
Premium Scale Bumblebee is due to ship in June 2020, a tad delayed due to the Coronavirus issues. Read on to check him out a bit early!

Overall Thoughts:
Another great release! I’ve been lucky enough to handle most of 3A and now ThreeZero’s Transformers offerings since the beginning and they have been getting better each time out. Each one handles smoother, build quality improves, articulation is more refined. And that leads us to today’s Premium Bee, which so far is the best Premium Scale to date. I still dig the DLX series, especially Bumblebee in that scale, it’s near perfection. The size here though allows for even greater detail in sculpt, paint, weathering, detailing. And they nail it fierce.
Articulation points are fluid, no ratcheting in most places. Hips do have some. Ankle rocker range is better compared to DLX as well. You can move this guy around like a giant 1/12 figure with almost no major thought to it being fragile or tipping. It has strength and weight.
Lights are well done, super bright, 2 colors for the eyes. Headlights and gun fire up as well.
Accessories are great – arm cannon with lights, arm sword, computer interface doohicky on the finger, flip up torso plate to reveal the tape deck, multiple doors for the back, regular and battle mask heads, and a first I believe for Transformers – multiple different eyebrow pieces so he can emote your pants off. All movie accurate.
He works with **about** 7 inch scale figures. That would be NECA, McFarlane, etc. Black Series and Marvel Legends are a tad small.
All in all I can’t say much more about it, it’s just awesome. The movieverse is the movieverse, but I’ve dug Camaro Bee since 2007 regardless. And VW Bee feels like a proper return to roots, merging of the eras. This release is a perfect way to represent that as a centerpiece display. It was a joy playing around with this guy, no fear of breakage or tipping, just posing around with a big super realistic robot!
If he is in your budget, and you dig this look, I would recommend him 100%. Check our sponsors below to see if they have any left. He’s due to ship in June 2020 right now. Thanks again to ThreeZero for sending through a copy to check out!
Now, the good stuff – PICS!

Great video – and I loved the background music!

Hi guys Today, I prepared the Bumblebee Unboxing video. The quality of the product is better than I thought.

I received mine and I am overall very pleased with this figure, but I found it terrifying to pose. I wanted to get a dynamic kneeling look with the sword, and it is super hard to really tell how far the joints can go due to how stiff they are. I was fearing at some points that I might break a joint since I thought I might have been pushing them past the point they were supposed to go. The combination of extremely tight metal joints, and plastic pieces that feel more fragile made it seem higher risk than say a Hot Toys figure. So unlike the Deluxe figures, I cannot see myself posing the Premium figure a lot. I’m just too concerned that something might go wrong. If I actually posed the figure in a different way, I’d be scared to try to go back to that kneeling pose again. It just felt like I was stressing the figure to its limits in getting that pose. Perhaps if I had stuck to a less extreme pose I wouldn’t feel this way, or maybe I’ll gain more confidence in posing these over time.
That said, it is an incredible figure overall.

I know I’m super late to the thread, and I’m reviving a zombie thread…but I ordered one of these (and pretty much all the other 3a Bee movie figures) and I look forward to getting this out of the box on Wednesday or Thursday. I’m supposed to get 3 of the deluxe figures tomorrow.
I watched a lot of the videos in this thread that help sway me to get both the deluxe and premium version. I figure I’ll pose the deluxe version in an aerial action pose, and probably use the sword on the premium since that isn’t an option on the deluxe model (unless I buy 3rd party accessory swords).

Something's holding me back from getting this one as well. It's a very impressive piece but my OCD can't get over that big rust stain under the left headlight and how the weathering is kinda overkill in some places that even after heavy fighting weren't as dirty in the movie. The prototype was much more appealing to me, it had just the right amount of weathering. It's ironic that we were just talking about how the dlx line is not getting enough weathering in the later batches and now here we are. Looks like there's no middle ground with Threezero.

As good as the figure and design is, I just couldn't bring myself to buy a repeat of the same character.
I feel like it's been forever since I ordered TLK Megatron too.

Does this mean the orders direct from 3A are starting to arrive?!
I ended up putting in an order late at BBTS so I'm sure that's still a ways off.

Mine came with 2 right hands and the left hood headlight didn’t work

I'm always looking forward to seeing new videos of this guy in different light and poses. He really is so much more impressive of a display piece in that size and with all the additional posing options. I'm also diggin' your take on him with the more held back attitude. Subbed.

Finally found this thread!
Man, this thing was buried deep.
Here's my review! Hope you all enjoy it!…even though it's been reviewed over 3 months ago haha.

Oh wow Tony you did really good. It is a really nice figure you customized there.

Laurie Strode Halloween 2018 body, and a Jonah Hex Lilah (aka Megan Fox) head. Both by NECA. They do not naturally work together well, have to do some work to get them to look right. I cut the Strode neck down with scissors, had to break the Lilah head off to get it off body, used wax to keep head on.
