Fabien, Jairo and Deborah of the Space Ape Games team interviewed legendary Transformers author Simon Furman during their recent Opening Shot live stream.
(Edited for length and clarity)
What keeps you attached to the Transformers saga?
“It’s so diverse, it’s got the most amazing cast. Right from the beginning, the character profiles that Bob Budiansky came up with… and the TV shows, with the great voices, you were right into it from the start. It just seems to keep reinventing itself, restarting with new takes on the same classic characters (and adding) new characters into the mix. Recently, the IDW comics, the games. Just generally, I love the whole brand… it never seems to grow old really, never gets tired.”
What bot would you like to see added into Earth Wars?
“Guys like Hardhead and Nightbeat… there are some that I’ve used in the comics fairly extensively that I’d love to have in the game. I’m spoiled for choice, really.”
Have you read the Transformers: Galaxies Constructicons Rising arc and what did you think of it?
“I’m really enjoying the new IDW Universe, we’re going to be able to collect some of it in the definitive G1 Collection which you can see behind me on my shelves. It’s great, I’m really enjoying what Brian’s been doing on the main book and Galaxies is great fun too.”
Have you found any differences in writing for a comic versus writing for a video game?
“(In) comics, you’re very much describing what’s happening and constructing the whole thing, (with) visuals to fall back on. With the game, largely it’s almost like an audio drama, you’ve got to make sure that what people are seeing is clear… describe the action in a way that (doesn’t) look like you’re describing the action. I love doing it, it’s a challenge. I’ve written countless comics but the game sort of exercises a different creative muscle.”

Doom Slayer
I have the 4* with Bashbreaker. I like him. He does good damage and with Bash he launches three additional acid projectiles.

Hi folks I just got this 5* bot over the weekend. Is he any good? Any core recommendations or suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks
MrPractical
lol, what does everyone think about these begging emails they send monthly now saying you haven't spent enough money?
Has anyone filed a charge back against the Apes saying you spent $1,000 to become a part of the VIP program and then they took it away from you so you never got the long-term expected VIP benefit you spent $1000 assuming you'd receive?
Doom Slayer
That is correct. Ranking up always takes 2 days. You always start with 3* regardless of which bots you have.
Ephland
Can confirm.
I have all the bots in 4* or higher. The 3* Combiner is automatically available, and then it's a 2 day/3m Energon upgrade to the 4*.
VicRav
What? Where are you getting that from. Several players already have the bots for the combiner and just upgraded them in the combiner lab as normal.
Methos
So now we not only need the bots for the new combiner, but you need to draw the combiner it's self.
Goose24
Brings bots back to life.
Got the 5*. Remembered how much I used to hate leaderboards.
rendsora
May I know what is wreck gar SA?
Doom Slayer
Got the 4* too. Could have gone for the 5* if I wasn't so busy this weekend.
Ephland
We did the 4*. I set a new personal F2P weekend record – 38.5K.
Rocka5438
Can I just say how I adored how the writers used so many different TV quotes for the Junkion's lines? Breaking Bad and Dad's Army were really good to see in this game of all places!
Goose24
Wreck Gar looks good. I may be going for the 5*. Dammit.
Doom Slayer
I believe you. Since I had that happen to me a few times. I'm an Autobot player and nearly all my 4* Decepticons came from free crystals… and I have 9 of them.
Ephland
this will sound like complete BS, but I pulled (dupe) 4*s from two back to back free crystals this morning.
Doom Slayer
And I thank you for spreading the knowledge!
Chocwave
Hey, that was me!
Goose24
He’s really versatile. I use him/Hoist/Springer/Sandstorm all similarly as mobile healing warriors. So if they’re top notch (Hoist is on my war team) I’ll use Micronus and Nightstick. Otherwise I just use rejuve and whatever combat helps keep them alive.
Doom Slayer
Someone here said that his attack drone ability is quite useful. And it is. Deploy them in a base, and then deploy another set of drones. The first ones blow up and deal quite a lot of damage. For a core or combat, I have Rejuvenate G-Metal and a 2* Flak. The last one I will change to something better.

Any feedback for this guy? Just got him from last weekend event. Recommend any powercore n combat bots to use with ?
