Courtesy of Loopaza Mega Store we have our usual doses of Figure King Magazine Scans. Issue #265 features some new images of Beast Wars Masterpiece MP-50 Tigatron, Masterpiece MP-51 Arcee & Studio Series.
This month we have only 2 pages of Transformers content:
- Beast Wars Masterpiece MP-50 Tigatron – A nice set of images of new images of the noble Maximal warrior. We can see that Tigatron is very posable and cartoon-accurate in both in his robot and beast mode. A figure that will sure please Beast Wars fans. We also have a look at one of the accessories included with this release: The cable he used to plug-in to the Darksyde’s computer in “Before the Storm.”
- Masterpiece MP-51 Arcee – New images showing off Arcee’s posability (recreating an art from Hidetsugu Yoshioka). We can also spot some accessories like her gun and red visor from the movie. The images also confirm that the prototype shown at Wonderfest was not mistransformed (specifically, her chest).
- Transformers Studio Series Releases For March 2020 – Wave 12 is scheduled for March 2020 (remember that Takara Tomy use different numbers compared to the US releases) with SS-46 Megatron (Transformers 2007) and SS-47 Scavenger (ROTF). We also have an extra pic of Devastator.

I think someone said that he was build from the old factory and shouldn't be a problem. I own him but I haven't got MP Hound to compare him to. I'm still holding out in getting MP Hound, I do still want him, but not anytime soon.

Speaking of "plastic quality", does anyone here have Lio (Optimus)? If so, how was the plastic with it?
If it was better, hopefully the rest of the releases this year follow suit….

You know, I will somewhat agree with you. It probably is a small minority of fans. However, this is a first for me to be in that minority. I think a lot of people’s concerns with this are very valid. Proportions, price, and plastic quality are good arguments for a lot of fans. I do however hope MP-51 is a better release than its shaping up to be. This is the primary line I collect.
GizmoTron
That's what a small minority of fans do (and even then regurlarly the same 10-12 board members). The vast majority of fans aren't on the boards much if even at all, let alone post in 3P threads.

Oh its absolutely not for us, I agree. I spend a lot of time in Japan (well, a lot of Asian countries) and most of the collectors I know aren't happy with the recent quality and price hikes. So when I say disgruntled customers, I'm principally meaning the core JP market.
I love the kawaii style, so I'm in for the Windblade (I expect them to limit that to Asian markets now, thanks puritans) but I doubt Flame Toys really care about the Western market, though I've met them at TF Nation in the UK and they're lovely people. They're willing to make that much effort until they'redriven away, so I hope they persevere.

It appears you don’t spend a lot of time in the third party forums. Because, that’s EXACTLY what Masterpiece fans do.

Suspension of disbelief is why we're able to think of her as a person.
Masterpiece toys shouldn't require suspension of disbelief to see them as the show characters. We had to do that in the 80s with the original toys… the whole point of the MP line is to NOT have to do that anymore
I'm not trying to put nines on it though… it's not like that doesn't look like arcee. It's obviously her. It just doesn't look RIGHT.
If this was still available at og MP car prices id get one anyway, but knowing it's gonna be like $150… probably not

Yeah, truth be told, most Transformers fans let alone the average person just see a nice looking figure, and aren't going to notice that Lio's arms aren't 100% accurate, and certainly aren't going to spend time comparing MP Arcee, Azalea, and Rouge up against screen captures using a magnifying tool to find out which version has the chest in the most accurate position to the nearest centimeter.

HaHaHaHaaaa!!! My wife saw me reading these post and stated that Arcee is saying "eyes up here!!!"

Way back from a previous post, the MP line is targeted towards the primary JP crowd. One glaring example is Starsaber's winning the poll which got him built. That's just from the JP feedback. The international feedback coming second to consider is from China. Arcee's design is based from a more kawaii appreciation hence we always see Satoshi Urushihara's art. For the target audience, the oppai design is just the norm. The last time I believe Takara delayed a MP release due to some sort of outrage was the issue with Exhaust (the Malboor color fonts). Redesigning Arcee because of a phantom market is a longshot.
Mercutio
She's listed as MP-51 in the second line of the magazine text.

I'd agree in cases like the Flame Toys Windblade – most of the people complaining (a vocal minority) were unlikely to be buying any of these things. It's just a clarion call to certain types to join the outrage mob. I don't doubt some of these people might have considered a purchase, but not many.
In Arcee's case, I think most of the complaints I've read are in forums like this, where we're all active members of the community who pay a lot of cash for our plastic crack. I have Azalea and Rouge, Nicee and Earthrise Arcee are on pre-order and even I'm on the fence with this one. I'm fairly confident some enterprising third party will fix Takara's mess, as usual, but I'm not sure it's even worth it. There's a lot I do like about the figure, but not quite enough for me to pull the trigger. After Bumblebee and Hound, I just don't trust Takara's product right now, and I'm even less happy at the prices I'm paying for badly constructed figures.
My hope is that Takara are at least aware of their disgruntled fanbase.
My love of the franchise keeps me here, but if I were to judge it purely on the product, I'd have ditched the MP line several releases ago. Earthrise, at least, is outrageously good

Just like the phenom on Twitter. Only 20% users are the noisiest who don't actually support (as in purchase in the case MP Tfs or watch a certain movie they espouse to support) the product. Same with video games and anime.
We(like you jackisking) among others support a product(not blindly) and our wallets get hurt (actually invested) when we take in a lemon. The noisiest, well were they actually "hurt" by the purchase in the first place?
jackisking
Wouldn't count on it the response to MP "Earthy" has been pretty much positive. This is like Lio Convoys arms the people doing all the complaining aren't the people whose opinion matter the most.
cybergaurdian
Just noticed that while Tigatron is listed in the mag as MP-50, Arcee is simply listed as MP……makes me think we may yet see some tweaks like Hound got before finally being released. We may actually end up with a different bot for MP-51 if Arcee is delayed/tweaked.
Fafnir72
Suspension of disbelief my friend. Suspension of disbelief.
JoeHavok
Agreed. I’m on the fence for a Masterpiece release for the first time. I will probably not even Pre-Order this. I have to make sure Takara has fixed the plastic on this one, or I’m going to sadly have to pass.
Treadshot 2.0
That goes without saying, because whether a person buys this thinking it's perfect or visually compromised, either way you're gonna be SUPER unhappy if the thing breaks for no reason.
UtahRobotInDisguise
I just need to know Takara fixed the plastic used in MP47 for MP51. If it's not going to fall apart, I'll definitely jump on it. I love Arcee and have had all the 3p offerings. I currently just have the Fanstoys version but her connections for the backpack have issues and I detest the giant gap in her ribs. MP51 looks more solidly built. She's far from being the worst Masterpiece figure. Besides the Beast Wars mp's that IMHO all look horrendous, MP-05, MP03/MP-11, and MP21 look far worse in design. Arcee's chest really won't be distracting in-hand. So far, all the "dealbreakers" that people have whined about in the past have been minimal when the toy shows up on people's shelves. Again, plastic quality should be the number one thing fans harass Hasbro & Takara about, not breast shape.
WishfulThinking
The chest is fine. Here, I'll show you why it's the neck.
