Super7 has thrown their hat into the early reveal ring as we have confirmation and images of their massive Super Shogun Optimus Prime! Fans of oldschool-style vinyl figures and/or Optimus Prime buckle up because this figure stands at 24 inches tall and will dwarf the rest of your collection. In addition to his impressive height, he also features rolling wheels on his feet, a launching mechanism in his left fist for rocket punch action, a set of stickers for customization, and an opening chest with a removable Matrix of Leadership!

You’re good with math.

It’s blown polyethylene. It’s being made with the same materials and process the original Jumbos were. At the time it was cheap and the technology was everywhere. That’s not the case now. Something that was once cheap and simple is now expensive and unusual. Brian cares most that it’s the same process and materials. Unlike the recently Mattel release of Skeletor, which isn’t and still costs $300.

the price super 7 is charging for this toy is as fair as the price you're paying for a regular transformer.
this is a limited run, of 2ft tall plastic toys. given the cost of manufacturing such big pieces of plastic, and that this is a pretty small company, the high price is understandable.
Tenebrouser
You’re free to pay $75 plus shipping for a plastic block if you choose.

I just saw their… I can't believe I'm saying this… 5POA Joes….
seriously,
(the 7" on the other hand, are kind of cool, and at least articulated, but why 7" instead fo 6"? and the cost is outrageous IMHO for the quality of the sculpts, especially compared to Classified)
Tenebrouser
Not
Not at all. If people want to pay for this trash it’s their choice.

Pre-Orders appear to be sold out everywhere. From what I can put together it may be a November 2021 release date.
Any thoughts if this will be made available at release?
Had hoped to get a pre-order in but would be happy to buy on day of release if more will be made available.

Yeah I keep checking back here for updates. Really want this.

Any new news on this guy?

350 is too much to get yet another Optimus. Lower the price and make one of the actual fist missile guys like Sunstreaker or Inferno.

Reideen is my all time favorite Machinder. Well said.

I just chalk it up to this forum attracting younger fans who have no clue, or older toy fans who don't know much about toys released in Japan/Asia (where collecting interests/tastes can be quite different).
The TF franchise's popularity has increased, and that brings more people here. Not necessarily a bad thing. Over time, some of them may gain a bit of perspective and educate themselves about the toy collecting world, while some may continue to proudly revel in their ignorance. *Shrug.* Doesn't matter much to me either way, and no point getting bothered by it.
To be honest, I was kind of like that when I started out myself. Back around '98 or so, and for a number of years after, I was really into each new SOC release, and I could not at all see the appeal of vintage sofubi figures. I'd give the old-timers crap about their high-priced bath toys (it was a small, friendly toy group, though, and the ribbing was mostly good-natured). Ironically, now my collection is almost entirely comprised of modern sofubi figures.
One of my earliest childhood memories was seeing a Jumbo Reideen in a street-side shop (in Asia). To this day, I still regard it as one of the finest toy designs ever, so much so I went and bought a modern 2-foot-tall version out of respect for my memories of the Jumbo. Hot Rod for scale (note the peaceful coexistence of different types of toys ).

Imagine yourself being a kid and getting a massive, 2-foot super robot. It would be like getting WFC UNicron as an adult X 10. It would dominate your play time for years. With that, you would retain a strong tactile sense of how it should feel and operate.
I did not encounter these as a child, but I can imagine how strong the emotional imprint on me would have been. I completely get what Brian Flynn and Super7 are doing here.

Dude nothing is funnier than idiots revealing themselves to be idiots. Imagine being a “Transformer Fan” and being so fucking ignorant of the property you know nothing of Japanese Robot culture and disrespect it…. Then imagine being a “Toy Robot Fan” that’s so ignorant of toys you don’t know or understand the first robot toys on the scene….Then imagine just being a person who collects toys who is so painfully stupid you don’t understand that the toy you hold in your hands today will be as outdated as shampoo bottles from 70s. Sadly it’s not toy chauvinism it’s just their plain old stupidity.
SmokePants
Toy chauvinism… sad.
Are you sure you guys don't collect toys that others would consider absolute nonsense? I bet you do. We all do.
I wish I had a childhood connection to this kind of toy. The people who are the demographic for this are going to be in heaven.
