Hasbro is bringing back their 90’s staple Tiger LCD games. Retro gaming consoles are big so why not! Included in round one is The Little Mermaid, X-Men Project X, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and of course Transformers: Generation 2. They aren’t exact replicas of the originals, both physically and game wise, but were designed with the original in mind. Each will be out in Fall 2020 at $14.99. Check out some details and shots after the break, then hit The Verge to check out details on all the titles.

Same. I absolutely enjoyed the hell out of the Megaman one and a handful of others. Just picked up the Transformers one for that clearance pricing, even.

Yeah as much as I love James Rolfe I think his video has influenced people to excessively shit on these things without remembering what they were like as kids.
None of them are going to beat playing Super Mario Land 2, but they were cool collectibles that kept you entertained for a while. I remember really enjoying the miniature Game & Watch remakes Nintendo released (I had Donkey Kong Jr., Super Mario Bros. and Mario's Cement Factory) and the Sonic ones McDonalds released.
Honestly a good portion of the original Game Boy's library was just as bad, if not worse than plenty of these.

I had Gauntlet. It was a 3D maze where monsters would eventually pop out and you'd have to fight them. Not sure it was ever an actual maze as much as you just had to eventually make enough forward progress around the random walls. I really liked the game but it got hard when you got to the shifting walls stage. Overall, one of the better LCD handheld games, though.

Aww, my sister had that Jurassic Park one, I should grab her that for her birthday!

Sorry for the bump. A little off topic, but I couldn’t find any other thread to post this.
For those interested, wave 2 for these includes the following….
Spiderman
Power Rangers
Jurassic Park

These games make me think people have lost the ability to use imagination. Until Gameboy was widely available, these games were clutch. I remember my cousin and I sharing these on trips all the time.
They were trash compared to console games, but very fun time wasters as we would compete for the highest score. I think we finally ditched them in 6th grade when he got a Gameboy and I cut grass and saved allowance money for a GameGear.
I may get two just to send him one — that's what these are about, getting people like myself to buy into the nostalgia factor. Few children today would play them simply because the phone or iPad has better games for free.

Please place it back in the vault as soon as you can.

That right there was a favorite. Also had Mega Man 3. Baseball was fun, I believe that was two-player.

I had trouble following it too. However, I remember playing these sorts of games (and probably still have them….somewhere), so what I can tell you is it's really just about timing. You know certain graphics will appear at a certain spot at a certain time so you hit the button at the right instant to grab/avoid them. The better ones are just engaging enough to keep you occupied for a short trip, especially in an era when your only alternative was a book that might've made you car sick.

AVGN has made his feelings about Tiger games very clear, and he’s not wrong. This is far more a fun novelty collectors item than something to actually find enjoyment in playing.

Was just the easiest example. Since he's being reissued, it's not the best one. The point is, we were talking about pre-orders, not whether or not it's mass retail.
Omegax80
True that. Although he's in an upcoming Earthrise wave?

Don\'t these suck? AVGN said so. I think.
G.B. Blackrock
Yeah, I'm not waiting on that. I've got a pre-order in already, not wanting to take any chances. Just thought you were referencing a way I might save some money. I don't have your confidence that it might be available widely later. (Not questioning your mass release info, but that term doesn't actually mean widely available. Just ask Siege Rung.)
Omegax80
I don't see it on the site, but I do recall this being a mass release. It'll be there at some point I imagine.

Do you have a link to this at Target? I can't find it, but would happily use them and get free shipping with my Redcard.

It's $14.99.
Less than a deluxe figure. Pretty reasonable.
Walmart, Target, Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and Entertainment Earth all have pre-orders open. Not exclusive to any one retailer.
This has nothing to do with G1.
It's G2.
But in all seriousness, they're also remaking a number of Tiger games which didn't see a huge release towards the end of the Tiger Electronics handheld line. This isn't a specific position on Transformers G1/G2. They chose a number of games to reissue, and this was selected. Nothing more than that.
