Aw, Shockwave’s comin’! Another character that so desperately needed a bigger and better figure, Studio Series 56 Leader class Shockwave is finally here! While definitely a prime example of the “mish-mash of parts” aesthetic from the Michael Bay films, Studio series Shockwave is an extremely imposing and all-around outstanding figure that’s fun to pose and play with. The mold detail and paint apps are some of the best in the Studio Series line to-date and the figure feels like an apt testament to the work Hasbro is doing with the Studio Series line. The engineering is also solid all around and his tank mode is just downright menacing. On top of being an outstanding figure, his “accessories” add a nice touch for scene recreations and help make the figure feel a bit more complete. Liege Prime
For sheer badassery this is one of the best looking mainline figures. Up there with Studio series Grimlock.
SinisterSpinister
Hasbro and Takara releases are nigh identical these days.
Prime Aspect
Anyone know if there will be a Japanese release with harder plastic, like in other lines?
Also: thanks to this thread I remembered that there is a Wheelie and Brains in the package. They must be really small since I didn't notice when I opened it up!
Onslaught24
To each their own! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
megatroptimus
It transforms like a Fast Action Battler.
Smasher
The pictures are good.
But if anything they reinforce my notion that the robot mode is a mess of a design and the alt mode looks like nothing.
It's funny how I knew Shockwave was going to be in Dark of the Moon but when he first appeared on screen I didn't recognize him.
I didn't know that Shockwave was going to be in Bumblebee and I immediately recognized him when he appeared on screen.
Onslaught24
I thought so. Solid joints, everything tabs together securely, and the reuse of some of Megatron's engineering is well done, especially since they didn't make Megatron's leg problems Shockwave's problems.
Skyclaw
I like SS Shockwave and all, but way too much rubbery pieces for me
megatroptimus
The engineering is solid?!
barrelks
Scale be damned, I really wish Wheelie and Brains were bigger. Tossed those things and the trooper in a zip log bag never to be seen again. Just amazing how small they really are.
analogue
Yes. Although it has been improved to a degree.
Onslaught24
Yep! I have a comparison shot of those two in the gallery actually.
BIGGUY007
Does it still retain that \'tank\' alternate mode like it\'s DOTM Voyager Class figure?
Lore Keeper
Wow, thanks! I'll keep that in mind.
IronWaveJRG
Am I the only that that gets annoyed whenever someone has DOTM Megatron standing -almost- straight? DOTM Megatron is supposed to be hunched over, so his legs are on multiple joints so you can bend his legs on a chicken leg stand, this way he's about the same height as all of the SS Megatrons
analogue
Mine has yet to leave the box, and probably never will. If you end up needing a replacement, send me DM.
Lore Keeper
Oh, they are now on a VERY high shelf after I found their buddy missing. I'm so disappointed in my son. He knows better and hasn't done something like this in a long time.
Kotori Sonoda
That sucks, I hope you can find it.
Could have been worse though. Would be bad if it were Brains and/or Wheelie missing.
Lore Keeper
I was about to film the post-unboxing portion of my review on this guy today. But… I discovered that my youngest got ahold of the paratrooper and lost it. I tore the whole house apart looking for it to no avail. It sucks because the review is on hold until i find it.

It’s unfortunate that he was so underused in Dark of the Moon. This design is simply awesome (I’m gonna be honest and say that it’s better than the Bumblebee movie design, which just looks boring and uninspired) , and I’m sad we’ll never see it again.
