Shockwave Lab Weibo have uploaded images of their next product: SL-58/59 Upgrade Kit for Power Of The Primes Rodimus Prime/Unicronus.
These kits are designed and colored for POTP Leader Class Rodimus Prime (SL-58) or Rodimus Unicronus (SL-59). Each kit contains a new pair of more articulated thighs and a pair of shoulder fillers. The thighs parts need some assembly while the shoulder fillers just snap on their position (can also be connected to the thighs for storage).
We still have no concrete information on price or release date, but it should not take long since Shockwave Lab upgrade kits are usually available online once they share images of the product. See the mirrored images after the jump and then share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Never too late if you're poor or on a budget. Like me.

Heavy/Scratch: – Kingdom Style Rodimus Upgrade for POTP Hot Rod
POSSESSED_DIGIT
Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but I just wanted to give a heads up:
This evening I got my PotP Rodimus Prime out of storage to play around with. I had the shockwave labs thigh upgrades on him, which I think I bought on eBay a year or 2 ago. The black joint parts were stuck fast for some reason and when I tried to wiggle them free, the black joints inside completely shattered on both thighs. I\'m not completely sure why they shattered, but looking at the shards I can tell the plastic quality is kind of poor. Since it was ebay and I\'m uncertain, there\'s a chance they could be bootlegs(heh). Or just poor quality plastic that degraded quickly.
anyway, if you own these just be aware they may become brittle, or stuck, or both. I’ll be checking my Rodimus Unicronus later on as well…
If anybody is curious, I\'m hatching a plan to Frankenstein some parts to salvage the thigh/shoulder joint concept. Open to suggestions tho

Ah… I see.
Thanks for the picture

Unfortunately, he can't go straight out because his shoulders hit the sides of his head, as well as the top of the backpack. The shoulder fillers also barely take any range away, in the pic below I left the red part on his right arm and there's barely any difference.

And I finally ordered POTP Rodimus just to go with this upgrade set. I'm only really interested in the combined mode (though I'm hoping Hastak wil give us a new CHUG Rodimus Prime with a proper battle platform/trailer sometime in the future (with a more accurate G1 chest)) since I want it to represent this version of the character.

I'll be calling him 'Duke Fire' after the Brave character the concept eventually turned into.

That looks good. Just wanna ask. In rodimus prime robot mode, without using the new red parts on the shoulders, how far the arms can go out and up side of the figure? Can the figure do a "T" pose?

I’ll have to floor polish everything also. Love the result though.

The fillers for the shoulders have molded in missiles and 5mm handles. Did not expect that kind of functionality.

The thighs being squared now is a bit weird, and the fillers don’t really have an elegant way to store in vehicle mode(s). I suppose that is a fault of the base figure not having enough ports.

Man they can pull off so much more poses now! The only temporary downside is that some parts are a little loose to accommodate paint tolerance, but it's easy enough to disassemble & thicken with some paper. Or floor polish does the job too. Very happy with my purchase

I don\'t mind the look in both rodimus prime and hotrod. Is the function of the upgrades is why I wanna buy this upgrade
MrZurkon
I got these last night for Rodimus, hopefully I'll have time to put them on

Yeeeesss finally! I've been waiting for a kit like this, and some retailers still have POTP rodimus on clearance! Thank you!

I want this. Looks great

This post is just for 3d printed parts and not 3rd parties who do injection molding (Dr. Wu, DNA Design for example).
I vowed never to buy from Shapeways again. Awful quality and too many broken pieces. I would put Shapeways at the bottom, especially after their price hikes.
Shockwave Lab and Matrix Workshop are comparable to each other. The former was better as they didn't have any significant peg size problems. SL's LED kits are annoying as they continue to use bare and blinding LEDs. MW finally fixed their peg issues starting with their Ratchet kit. I would say they're middle of the pack. I have several kits from both. I have tried one 115 Utopia kit and is about the same quality wise. Prices are OK if you factor in free shipping from certain sellers. Overall, I would say quality is about middle of the road.
I have tried only 1 GX studio kit and they're the best quality by far in terms of 3d printed parts. Their painted kits almost look like injection molded parts and are very smooth.

These look great, but I was hoping for them to make a new noggin for Rodimus Prime. Those eyelids were just too small, can barely see his eyes.

those hands tho, where did they come from??? i need em too! (my unicronus hand snapped off at the wrist sooo yeah)

I appreciate filling the gaps without disabling arm movement, but I think I like the blasters better. Of bits I\'ve tried, they were the most satisfying in all modes.
Shockwave Labs keeps making sets for this toy and that do not gel with the other sets or even the toy at times.
The hands only work in a certain position in alt and kinda look worse (unless I got a bad set).
The blasters can\'t be held in alt by the new hands, (so glad I got them both at the same time so I could swap back the old pair).
Now they make this set, which further negates the blasters. btw SL, not showing where these go in vehicle mode is not comforting.
You know, when high end KOs steal a design, they find ways to make them better.
