Third Party company Shockwave Lab have uploaded, via their Weibo account, images of their new upgrade kit: SL-70 LED Blaster For Studio Series SS-56 Shockwave.
This is another easy to install accessory to improve the new Leader Class Studio Series DOTM Shockwave. You just need to disassemble Shockwave’s right arm (not difficult since there are just 2 screws) and replace the inner blaster parts.
We still have no concrete information on price or release date, but it should not take long since Shockwave Lab upgrade kits are usually available online once they share images of the product. See the mirrored images after the jump and then share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Someone let me know how this is inhand

Okay cool, I’ll look into them.
Agreed about Shockwave too. It’d be cool to get a set to replace all the rubber parts, but the ones that need replaced the most are the hand and especially the blade. That blade is just complete garbage, it barely stays in and it’s so flimsy.

Nah the blackout hands are great. Made him feel like a new figure. Especially since I sprayed them a lighter gray.
Anyway, I like the idea of this but to me (as others have said) the cannon is the least egregious of the issues with the figure. Sounds like I'm being negative but I love the figure. However that rubber sword is embarrassing. I'd much rather have that be replaced. And as @Yaujta said having some blast effects for this guy would be ideal.

No they at least make the figure look a lot better then before so they’re worth it for that least. However I will say that besides the plastic quality the joints for the fingers are a bit loose at least on my copy.

Neat lil kit, but SS Shockwave has way too mush rubbery parts for my liking. So Pass!
Black Convoy
Exactly.
Jazz210
Neat lil replacement cannon but they should include them sword replacement as well

Getting back into the topic. I also consider LED lights unnecessary, but I think if Shockwave Lab continue releasing LED kits is because maybe in China people want them. I would wait to have SS Shockwave in my hands to see if the rubber cannon is so bad. If so, I may replace it with this, but I will never use the lights.

I have the Blackout hands and they look great in my opinion. You can get them cheaper via Aliexpress. They have wrist articulation and they can even hold weapons or other objects. They really work for my display.

So to you, they’re not worth whatever $15 plus shipping they’re priced at on eBay? Because if not, I’ll just forget them and let Blackout have his piano hands
Chaotic91
I own the Blackout hands and yeah the quality really Isn’t that great. It feels like Shapeways plastic.
Megatron118
This is kinda what I’m hoping and waiting for. I just want the rubber pieces replaced.
Sucks to hear about their quality though, I was looking into getting their Blackout hands

I picked up a third party Devastator with a light-up eye gimmick recently, and I was giddy with it. I like to play with my Transformers on occasion, so having him be able to light up his eyes, even for just a little bit, is just an extra bit of fun with the figure. Most of the time, his eyes are off, but I'm not complaining that it's there.
That said, I don't necessarily feel the need to spend extra to add the feature to most of my toys.

Ive never been a fan of lights because even when theyre not obtrusive, they are unnecessary for display on a shelf. I guess the people who like to take pictures will enjoy this.

I think Unicron's is a pretty extreme example, since that clear hand gimmick (for me, at least) is a major, visible detriment to the mold that takes away from the overall look. I see it more as the light up eyes in MP Optimus Primal, or the lights and sounds of older (but more recent than Unicron) leader/supreme class figures, like Cybertron Optimus Prime or Metroplex. They're not too intrusive, but they're pretty unnecessary at the same time.

I wonder how easy this would be to convert into a cannon to be used by other figures. I don\'t plan on getting Shockwave, but it might be a cool general cannon for a character…

Ill never understand the point of these LED kits. Ever since the dreaded Armada Unicron light up hand, the majority of collectors in general oppose LED gimmicks. Do they look cool if done right ? Yes they do. Do I need it ? Nope.

Cool concept, but I hope DNA does a full kit with new right hand, and new blade as well.
Rumblestorm
Are these still rubber?
If so, cool, but I would rather invest in hard plastic parts.
TargetmasterJoe
I could do without an LED kit. But a kit to change the rubbery left hand for one that's proper hard plastic and make the cannon arm less squishy? Yes, please!
DNA Design, get on that, please!
