The recent release of the new Transformers Generations book included some declarations of Takara Tomy Designers.
While brief, the article titles “Towards 2020 with transformers, following the 35th Anniversary” features statements from Takara Tomy designers Kojin Ono (Veteran G1 designer who also worked in the original G1 Raiden toy), Hisashi Yuuki (designer from several lines since Beast Wars II, including RID Optimus Prime) and Onohara Daisuke (G-Shock Master Optimus Prime).
They confirm some rumors as well as bring us new information about the “Raiden Project” announced by Takara during the “A Railway Story In The Sky” exhibition in Japan.
- Raiden, the Japanese exclusive train combiner, is confirmed to be released for the Masterpiece line.
- No official release date yet.
- They want to bring real trains to the great train fan base in Japan.
- The project will be taken by senior Takara Tomy designers this time.

Not exactly, according the official headmasters chart, they should be at least the size of mp hot rod if not mp Ironhide.

If scale was the priority with these the best option would be to have the train modes split with the front halves becoming bots the size of Ironhide, while the back halves are just for combination. After all, they did parts form while combing in the anime.

It was announced if hasbro did Predaking again, they would start from the ground up. I could see these being toon repaints.
The Takara rep was very thorough in everything should told me including the estimated 29.5 cm height.
I plan to take the second second level of the Japanese Proficiency Test, the N2 level. So, as long as I keep up my studies, I’ll continue to get better. I’ll share whatever info I can and help the community from the Japan side of things. I think it would be cool if there were other Japanese speakers to collaborate with info with. Lots of possibilities. I’ll enjoy this aspect of the hobby for sure. To everything else, love your Trainbots. These turned out better than I hoped for.

Really depends who you ask. Technically speaking, the robot modes are MP scaled, that being the same size as your normal car bots. If you wanted “properly scaled” Trainbots for CHUG, they would have to be average deluxe class size.
Me personally, I’ve always found that sizing a tad strange, and that the size of the MPG bots around CHUG bots are more what I would expect for robots that turn into trains. They’re more or less the same size as WFC Optimus.
Add on the fact that the combined mode is roughly the size of other CHUG combiners, I find these Trainbots are perfectly fine to mix with a mainline collection.

I completely forgot to pre-order Seizan until last week!
Fortunately Omegalock still had some available, and should be going out soon. I was loosing interest a bit until I saw people's photo's – I'm really looking forward to seeing what pictures people come up with as the stock pictures by Takara are rarely as good as some of the pics that are posted to these boards.
I suspect that future combiner will use bot mode scale as the primary height decider. E.g. constructions will be around ironhide/inferno height.
Stunticon cars should be around car bot height – I would hope Breakdowns alt mode would be the same size as Sideswipe/ Sunstreaker. Whatever magic they do with Motormaster I'm sure will be amazing.
I would also expect that they'd want to do the diaclone / pre-tf's first. I always wondered if the combiner wars and mainline stuff since has been them figuring out / testing weights and tolerances etc

A bigger combiner is inavoidable, we can already approximate the dimension, because combiner are made from alt mode, and some of them are already in our hands (carbots, for example)
Raiden has the "luck" of having narrow and long alt modes, the "damage" is in the limbs, all the rest of proportions come from them.
Anyway, i hope they will reinforce their microfigure collections, scales so good with the "on video" proportions, for the scale chart proportions core class is the way.
(And they sort of reconnected the g1 combiner dimensions in their last media)

The combiner is really beautiful, but man he's just way too small for MP scale. My guess is going forward MPG will entail more than one display scale per figure:
1. Regular display scale for alt/robot modes that scale with the rest of MP
2. Combiner scale that scales only with the rest of MPG. So you can have MPG combiners scaling and squaring off, but they'll look bad against base MP figures.
Honestly, it's not the worst approach, since most of the time the combiners fight other combiners. So I would not, in fact, expect larger combiners from this line. I think they will want to keep them in scale with each other, which also happens to allow them to keep the individuals in MP scale at the same time.
I'm not sure whether or not we will see increased show accuracy though. I would guess not, because I don't think they'd want to leave Raiden on an island, but it's hard to say after Skids.
I am definitely very excited to see what's after Raiden though, whatever it is.
