Third Party company Shockwave Lab, via their Weibo account, images of their new SL-61 Upgrade Kit For Generations Selects Star Convoy.
This new upgrade kits brings you a LED Matrix (work just by pressing it in the chest) and fillers for the legs. A very nice detail for your display and photography.
We still don’t have any concrete information on price or release date, but Shockwave Lab accessories are usually available online shortly after they show colored images.
Check all the images after the jump, and let us know your impressions on this upgrade kit on the 2005 Boards!

I have to find some way to put treads on the trailer.

Armada Prime is getting a Masterpiece so I guess a Generations release is unlikely right now.
I have this feeling Hasbro/Takara still wants to make a Largish Starsaber though (perhaps as a commander class) using the IDW body design.
They keep "Almost" making one. I think they have another Jazz planned too (with an animated like Ferarri Dino looking alt mode)
I think that because of how Rhinox was in the works for a very long time before finally getting released as a Generations Toy – at one point he was even muted as a Masterpiece. They keep hinting as Starsaber (for years now) I can't see them not eventually getting around to doing it – and there is only so many things that make sense as Commander class and Starsaber is one of those things. (Sky Lynx possibly Doubledealer being another) – The unused concepts show off that Animated looking Jazz too and they have a habit of returning to old ideas so I can see a future Jazz looking like that.

This figure's been out long enough to where we're finally getting upgrades for it yet still no Super Megatron or Armada Optimus Prime…

Its super nice that they're throwing in those leg covers as well as a little freebie with the matrix, thoughtful addition.

An upgrade kit like the PC-16 (Jinrai Prime), usable by both the POTP Optimus Prime and the Generations Selects Star Convoy would be an option.
It could consists of:
– A new cab (modelled after G1 Star Convoy's cab) that converts just into the core block of the bigger robot (it could house the original bigger robot head);
– Treads/back tires covers (or a new -detatchable- Roller to cover them);
– New rifle;
– New rotating turret/rifle ala G1;
– New Micromaster/Battlemaster-sized Rodimus figure (that could interact with both the new Roller and the new rotating turret/rifle);
– A conversion set for the trailer part (new shin guards, new shoulder covers with the turrets, new star-chest piece, new bigger robot head) for those who have the POTP Optimus Prime.
A man can dream, no?

I wonder if Star Convoy will get an overscale too.
I think it might be possible to either make tracks that slip over the rear wheels or make a set of treads that replace them. Perhaps DNA design is thinking about this they might be able to make a kit that addresses all that and more as they did with Optimal Optimus.
Rakzo
Because considering how erratic MMC's designs are, it might not necessarily be better despite that it will most likely be more expensive.
Requiem Prime
I don't think so because they made a version that used the existing matrix frame, which Star Convoy doesn't have. The gap fillers do feel like an oversight, or maybe a realization with Siege's cottage industry.
I'm tempted, but if a variant color doesn't happen I don't want to get two for the sake of leg fillers.

Massive missed opportunity not giving him a correct gun.
Sanity Bleeds
No release date in sight and this already scales with all other CHUG releases? Plus, even factoring the cost of a couple upgrade kits, it'll very likely still be a fair bit cheaper than what the MMC version will cost. To be fair though, I bitch about all the Hasbro shortcomings, buy the upgrade kits for them, and then buy the 3rd party offering without most of the shortcomings, so my opinion on the matter is kinda pointless
Everything Man
At that point why not just buy the MMC one?
Max Tower
I suspect they'd already designed this for POTP Optimus and had simply not released it – as if it was actually designed for Star Convoy wouldn't it have the extra post to merge with the gun on it ?
It might be worth buying 3 of these sets I guess mostly for the gap fillers. Unless they plan to re-release it in Gold for use with POTP Optimus too.
But I do get a trifle irked that they only filled the gaps in the larger robot form and not in the smaller one – but perhaps the idea might roll over onto one of the other kit makers and they might do something with a more extensive set of fillers included.

Speaking of new cool stuff though – this just came out too : And much to my surprise "It doesn't Light up!!!" (laugh)

Lame upgrades imo. No tank threads and new cab or armoured parts to make a G1 looking alt mode plus no tiny Hotrod Micromaster makes me sad…

Boy these generations kits happen quick. Really wish someone had made one for MP Ultra Magnus buttflap.
TargetmasterJoe
The legs are unchanged between Star Convoy and POTP Optimus, so the pieces should work in theory.
SammySaturn
OH I like that a lot. This is my favorit look for Prime, and that little light makes him look all the more interesting.
Kenchanayoh
This company loves light up parts.
Protostar
Would those filler pieces work with PotP Prime?
