Lol.

Wow, on that first point… How could the main villain turning into a tiny gun for his soldiers to hold, be silly in any way?
In regards to the movie. That is not relevant. The movie is a very separate beast to the cartoon. This should be plainly obvious to everyone. The first two seasons of the show are not "leading up to it", in any way. But, hey, most people only remember G1 being that movie, don't they? Let's all just forget what the cartoon was really like.
I mean, if you want me to list more utterly ridiculous episodes of season 2, I'd be happy too. They're some of my favourites.

How iß a show that has a villain , whom transforms into a Walter P-38 , a show that ultimately leads up to a movie where said villain blows the head off of a beloved character, a movie that killed every hero we knew for two years off ( mostly ) , that the audience had grown , to know and love for 2 years equal to this in silliness?
YoungPrime
I agree. And it was exactly what I was referring to. It feels like goofy "Go-Bot" quality which was far weaker than G1 Transformers.
No, G1 wasn't always perfect because Sunbow's staff had deadlines for this and 5 other cartoons (G.I.Joe, Jem, Ponys, Inhumanoids, Visionary's, etc.) yet they still did a good job with G1 IMO. S1 was great, S2 was good, S3 was just okay and Rebirth was Meh.
Currently my theory is that Cullen gets paid the most so studios feel obligated to use him more than they should. And all the other other Autobots use up Hotrods swag or some type of "Grumpy Guss" (Kup's vibe) who constantly chastises them.

Just passing here to tell you that you lack cognitive function. Not just because of the delusional "g1 transformers was more mature!!" but the attempt to say it was any more mature than Thundercats, which factualy did "Story-heavy" episodes with higher competence than G1 cartoon did.

I'm trying to be invested in this show but the 11 minute structure is doing it zero favors.
It's like a bunch of robots get thrown around and the plot goes nowhere and I'm like………ok. The jokes fall extremely flat and the fight choreography is cringe. I cringe so much I wish they just talked about fighting but it never happens.
The narrating Optimus Prime…..I hated when Cullen started that for the movies. Can't he just talk like a regular person?

This is a perfectly fine cartoon geared towards children.
With that said, I thought the part where Cheetor introduces the armor gimmick was funny. Optimus and Megs reaction was the same as mine. "Huh!?" Hasbro should have gone full meta and had Cheetor voiced by John Warden. Then every time a new character or gimmick is introduced Cheetor gives dialogue about said thing, to awkward and bewildered looks and response from the other Autobots.

Cyberverse has not done an episode where the Transformers go back in time to medieval times, or an episode where Blitzwing takes over a football stadium, or one where the Transformers get sent to a planet where they are the size of toys. Until those have been topped, G1 will forever hold the distinction as the silliest show ever. Beast Wars, known for some of the best mature writing in Transformers also had an episode about Rhinox farting.
And I don't really understand the "intended for a younger audience". It is intended to be a fairly lightheated show. Why does that automatically mean a younger audience? Adults should only enjoy very serious, dark stories? This show is primarily a comedy, like RID 2001 was. And there's nothing wrong with enjoying that for what it is.

I'm pretty sure it was just for laughs?

I thought that question about the file toward Megatron was blatantly unfair because for all we know Optimus was reading a smartphone-like device and he REALLY wouldn't have known while Optimus's question was something of public record and reasonably fair.
And the kicker was Optimus DIDN'T know, either.

I don't like this Cheetor. The BW version it was because he was young and inexperienced; this one comes off as having no common sense because he's missing a few screws.
pokemonsdoom
It was like "dude…we were like best friends"

Cyberverse is the silliest ever, for the single reason that the characters don't take each other seriously. This is intended for an even younger audience. All the reasons I don't like it could be sumarized by me not being the target audience. I just watch it because the models are nice and colorful and the animation is good, but I have no pretension of incorporating anything from this series into my own understanding of the Transformers mythos as a whole. Cyberverse is good, but ultimately doesn't count.

Really starting to love these seekers.
YoungPrime
I didn't once say it was perfect. I said G1 was better than its competitors.
SPLIT LIP
Cheetor went from being so cool and mysterious to being so annoying and lame.
No, no it was not.
Snowcat
Really? When was the last time you actually watched G1? Because allow me to pull out a number of choice quotes:
“Fire-******ant foam! Our circuitry's been shorted out.”
“Female Autobots? I thought they were extinct!”
“He's blown his vocal components. I guess that makes me, Starscream the new leader!”
“A booby trap that actually catches boobies.” – Being said by Optimus Prime no less.
And I'm not trying to bash the G1 cartoon here. I love it loads. But make no mistake it does not have "mature" writing. I'd say Cyberverse ranges from being about as silly as G1 (which is not a bad thing) to sometimes being quite dark and mature and generally having a much better grasp of characterisation.

I hope for some many more Beast Wars things to come. I Love having Cheetor in the show.
CapnScumbone
I have to admit that the writers are throwing a few curveballs, and while I don't expect adult level maturity for the show, I do wish it felt like there was a bit more tension or threat. The characters have some great personalities, but they're all incompetent and silly. We can get by without spastic slapstick, guys. Kids will keep watching even if someone doesn't fall over every 10 seconds.
Hyoumaru
That's quickly becoming the running theme of Cyberverse, subverting expectations, and frankly I welcome it.
