Great siege reviews, check out Transformers Explained, Astrotrain character overview

I like that Astro choo choo gets a deathcannon and space slippers but I don't like how it's at a leader price. Problem is, I feel like I might be underwhelmed if it didn't come with space slippers/backpack/deathgun extensions and was sold as a voyager for $30(for example, WFC Shockwave sans armor would be a HARD SELL for me as a voyager…it's a cool figure but barely bigger than a deluxe, definitely small for a voyager).
And I get it, parts count, maybe that played a part, who knows, it's possible.
Still feel like the MSRP is too high for what it is.

I want to get Astrotrain, but I\'m not sure I want to spend $50 on it. If it was priced like Springer, I\'d be all over it, but I\'m hesitating due to the extra price-point. And I bought Siege Shockwave, and like his extras, but I don\'t feel like a small box caboose really adds enough to the value.

I checking TFW and Seibertron hoping to see an update that include a video review of Siege ApeFace. Com’on Ton Ton!

I love astrotrain. I don't care what anyone says about the Coal Car but I love it and it makes the train mode even better imo. I don't have a problem with the shuttle either. Looks good.

Astrotrain looks lovely. I can understand why some people may be disappointed with Crosshairs, but the color scheme it's attractive.
Basically the LAAT.

I just watched Ton Ton’s video again. You know what really being lost in the arguments over $50 for a voyager and so one is that this is one of the rare triple changers that we have gotten where non of the alt-modes have suffered. Really. The train mode is total perfection and the space shuttle is just a thing of beauty. Obviously the Bot mode is, well, spot on for being a realistic copy of the animated cell version. How can you knock that?
Now something else I think y’all might not be seeing is what could be done with that backpack/trailer. First it looks to me that there might be ways to combine the parts of the trailer to the shuttle to make it some super armored death ship. Use your imagination. I just did. Also who says that in robot mode the pack has to be all boxed up. How about spreading out the panels like extra wings for the weapons to be on? Sorta like on the DOTM Ultimate Optimus Prime.
I really hope reviewers here in the states, like, OPtibotimus, Emgo, Peaugh and Baltmatrix, explore these possibilites in their reviews.
Now am I grabbing Astrotrain on Pre-Order? Nope. I’m going to wait it out over the holiday sales since a bunch of collectors said “Pass” on this figure, thus making a small glut to this release, which will drive the price down a little. If my toy budget was bigger I would go all in for $50 for Astrotrain. I think it’s worth it. Unfortunately, I’m a grown up and transformers is a small hobby for me. “A nice to have”, not a “have to have”.

This train mode looks better than that of the TR one, too.

Hasbro introduces loot boxes to your Transformers, courtesy of EA.
I think astrotrain looks amazing. Sure they could've implemented the battle box better, but considering how I missed out on TR astro? Imma get him.
Kinky.
T-Hybrid
If you can mount a gun to it…it's like a ball turret.

We have hope. There's Deathsaurus, Lugnut, and Thunderwing. Those boys are canonically LARGE, and Hasbro will need to fill out the Commander class with something. Though like @Banannixx, I too would prefer a Commander Lugnut. GLORIOUS!
The scale wouldn't necessarily change. Since Generations has a unified scale now, any characters that are of the "old Leader size" compared to other WFC bots would logically get released that size.
Think Ironhide & Impactor compared to the Autobot cars.
UltraMagnanimus
Exactly! Thats what Ive been saying too. It just seems like such an obvious fix for a problem the figure didnt need to have.
Venixion
So where will I be able to find A-train?
@Dinobot Snarl to Astrotrain: How dare you run about butt-naked?!
@fathi_haziq Ooh that is a nice picture. I may hafta grab me a Spinister.

I hadn\'t even got Refractor or Shockave…. I gotta get my arse in gear , Piranacons coming out ( Top priority) Apeface , Spinister and Barricade) Amazingly beautiful molds !
Ravage101
Well it’s that hard to imagine. Basically TR Apeface becomes a gun for Siege Apeface. Thanks to all these well placed weapons ports, TR Apeface adds to the vehicle and beast modes along with bot mode. It was already confirmed that TR head masters can fit on Siege Apeface, that would include the TR Apeface Head Master. Is that integrated enough for you?
Well maybe integrated was not the right word. But if you were going to pair up anything from Titans Return to Siege Apeface the choice is pretty obvious. Right?
trence5
Extra cockpit UNDER the chopper? Niiiiiiiiiiice .
Looking at that Astrotrain… Looks like Hasbro took a few cues from a 3rd Astro(I know which one too ) – and simiplified it a bit more… Sheer GENIUS
Megatronus
I don’t want them to change the scale, I’d just rather they use leader class to make characters that are supposed to be bigger, instead of making smaller characters and padding their release with accessories. When done well, this is cool (Ultra Magnus, Studio DOTM Optimus), but if Astrotrain and arguably Shockwave are indicative of what we could expect from future leaders, I’d rather they not continue like that.
I remember someone from Hasbro (maybe Warden) saying around Siege’s reveal that they were only going to do gimmicks where it made sense for that character, instead of having a line-wide gimmick like Titans and Combiner Wars. While that is true for most of Siege, for some reason the leaders didn’t escape it. They all have an armor gimmick, but it’s arguably half-baked for the releases that aren’t Magnus and Cybertron Prime. If Shockwave and Astrotrain had been released as voyagers without their ad-ons, I don’t think anybody would be wishing that said ad-ons had existed.
Tl;dr scale is a good thing, but releasing voyager-sized characters with inessential extra parts at the leader price point feels more like a consequence than a goal.
CyberDragon10K
Pretty sure if you don't that someone in China will market an extra cover piece and charge $15 – $20 USD for it.
It is inevitable.
Dachande
That really wouldn't make sense to change the scale for a second part of a trilogy.
