We had previously reported that the Royal Canadian Mint surprised us with the release of two special Optimus Prime themed coins.
The coins available were a 3D lenticular coin which shows Optimus Prime change between both modes, and is legally a 25 cent coin and available for $34.95 CAD, limited to 25,000 units. Then, a second piece which is legally valued at 25 dollars and limited to 3500 units is available for $159.95 CAD, made of pure silver.
Courtesy of 2005 Boards members MP Collector and ckhtiger, we can share for you in-hand images of these fantastic coins. Popular Transformes artist Guido Guidi draw the art on the 25 cent lenticular coin.
Click on the bar to see the mirrored images on this news post and let us know if you are willing to add these coins into your collection of Transformers items.

True, but thankfully, cheaper in Canada, for once.
That said, we have been known to drop three figures large for plastic and metal, so I'm not judging.

Those were my thoughts. Plus their high shipping prices.

I think it was Marcelo Matere who did artwork on the $0.25 while Sara Pitre-Durocher did the colors.
I'm gonna try to message Marcelo this weekend to find out for sure.

I bought the 25 cent one this past weekend… i'm debating whether I should buy the $25 one next lol….

Wrong agency.
The Royal Canadian Mint is responsible for coinage only – both regular currency and special edition currency. That's why these coins are legal tender in Canada (unless some special edition coins minted in the US, which are legal currency in like Latvia or some other strange country). (The Mint also mints coins for several other countries, too.) Flat currency (bills) are by the Bank of Canada (printed by a company under contract).
Stamps are printed and issued by Canada Post.
Sometimes all three work to release a commemorative set, but it's rare. They all are fairly independent entities, though, so even though the Mint made these coins (they're nicer in person), it has no effect on bills nor stamps. Doesn't mean we won't see OP stamps, but I'm sure someone needs to tell Canada Post about it. And alas, I really doubt we're going to see any TF related bank notes.

Art by Guido Guidi or Sarah Pitre-Durocher? I've seen both being mentioned…

Since you can sell anything by putting Optimus Prime's face on it, I want Optimus Prime toilet paper.

My trio of quarters arrived last Friday while I was on vacation. I was surprised at how quickly they shipped out.

They might be listing just OP at the moment, given Peter Cullen's Canadian connection.

They've done some great Star Trek stamp sets. Who knows, if Prime coins do well, they may do they same thing…I'd be all over a G1 package.

Cool! I'd be tempted if they had these in the Post Office but…

I've never had the opportunity to say this before, but this is a badass move by Canada. Well done, those coins look great. I salute you.
