Courtesy of 2005 Boards member dalianjj we have images of the Colored Test Shot of Fans Toys FT-43 Dunerider (Masterpiece Scaled G1 Beachcomber).
Fans Toys brings us another great addition to their Masterpiece scaled figures. Dunerider is a great cartoon-accurate rendition of G1 Beachcomber. The robot mode will include interchangeable faces and the alt more will have 2 alternative hoods (toy accurate or cartoon accurate), and die-cast parts of course. This figure will be a great addition to any Masterpiece collection. It’s good to notice that this is still a test shot and final colors may change in the future.

I have to say FT Gears is a HUGE upgrade in hand … like doesn’t even compare at all kind of upgrade. I can’t wait for them to announce a Windcharger/Tailgate and hopefully throw us a Hubcap from their Cliffjumper. The only ones I don’t believe I’ll swap are my DX9 Powerglide and XTB Cosmos… that said, if I find a cheap Powerglide, I would probably grab it I just don’t want to pay for the upgrade on that one.
Treadshot 2.0
I found myself in the exact same situation. I felt like I was good with Arcos, then slowly overtime watching the reviews I realized I really did want Dune runner. By that point I had to pay a little bit of a late tax, I didn’t really care though. And this was a great release and I’m very pleased with it. I feel like the stuff that came out during this period was FTs peak.
right now I wonder if I’m setting myself up for the same sort of situation with variator, except a major difference is that badcube grump Is just better overall than XTB beachcomber was. First off it holds together just fine. It’s pretty much show accurate as a robot, the only major visual thing fans toys gets way better, aside from proportions, is the feet. It also has a more realistic vehicle mode And is technically more in scale. But variator is just a better toy overall.
In retrospect I can’t be grudge fans toys for going for crack cash grabs at times because the captive market has pretty much disappeared. In a vacuum I would’ve definitely bought variator but I’m probably not going to buy it at all, because everything is more expensive nowadays and I still haven’t bought double dealer or the power master jets. I have to prioritize characters I don’t have yet at all

Thanks again for helping add him to my shelf, he’s in good hands!
I found a little stray stand for some of XTB’s birds to stay with him! I like posing him as his pacifist self and tucking his gun away to speak to the animals … same pose I did with XTB and didn’t want to lose the birds

Why wait? If you want it, get it. I bought mine maybe a year back and paid the late tax, but I don’t mind. I originally thought I’d be happy enough with XTB Arkose, but I should have bought Dunerunner too. Arkose is pretty cool though, especially the engine in buggy mode.

I'll wait for the reissue. Maybe in 2024.

Aftermarket doesn't care about inflation. If this was a reissue I might agree (i.e. Aerialbot reissues and so forth) but this is just old stock.
Roadbuster25
My point is that the price well exceeds inflation.
crdavismusic
It might be too high for you, which is totally fine. For some, it's pretty reasonable compared to most FT aftermarket prices. And for those who can afford it, more power to them

little paint chip on his foot.

I’m still perfectly content with XTB for display … but if I could grab this for $120 or lower, then why not… unlike other characters, Beachcomber doesn’t look horribly out of place on the shelf (looking at you, Windcharger )
Roadbuster25
That's way too high when you consider it was sold at TFSource for $100 3 years ago.
metalwar2010
I agree and wouldn't normally jump at that price or at $155 but I was able to get a few discounts to ease the pain. There's nothing to say these will be reissued and probably the last of anything I will buy with such a markup.
metalwar2010
Worth the risk for me and only issue I remembered was needing screws. Not the worst thing to worry about, unless there more than that?
Destron1
They quickly noted "2020 version, might come with the common issue on knees. No after-sale.".

We’ve truly lost our minds.

I pulled the trigger on both, as I sold mine all off with the idea I was over the MP line to focus more attention on Legends. Seeing the minibots are getting much better love on sculpt and cartoon accuracy, back I was in again with MP.
Also, $170 shipped isn't terrible and I hopefully will get my 5% from Chase for using PP to offset that too.

Looks like Warpath too

Still, not hatefully expensive for a 3.5 yo FT figure.
