Via Sy-Fy we can share for you our first preview of the upcoming new IDW Transformers: Galaxies #01.
This new spin-off series of the new IDW Transformers comics brings us some background story for characters that are not so involved in the main central story. And this series is starting with the secret story of fan-favorite Contructicons. Written by Tyler Bleszinski with art by Livio Ramondelli. this new comic series will reveal a lot of dark secrets about the infamous Constructicons:
In the series’ storyline, ages ago in the aftermath of the War Against the Threefold Spark, the mighty Constructicons emerged to assist in the rebuilding of the sentient robots’ devastated home planet in grand fashion. But exactly what happened to them in the intervening years, why had they been eradicated from Cybertronian history, and what have they been plotting for their unsettling return?

I need to pick this up.
Constructicons, Wheeljack … I'm in, at least for the 1st issue.

Gonna be the pessimist here and state that I don't think this comic is off to a good start if the preview is anything to go by. Let me elaborate through quick observations:
1) From this preview we are informed the Constructicons were recently forged/birthed/created to rebuilt from the Three Spark War. Instead of telling us, the reader, their purpose and their recent creation perhaps it would be better to show us this from the Constructicon's perspectives as they or at least one awaken. They are educated on fields of construction and are told of their assignment. The main difference is we see more of the Constructicons first moments and filling their roles from their perspective instead of an exposition dump.
2) The fact that Terminax introduces them by name and specialty tells me we won't be seeing any growth of their characters or new dynamics between the group. They're going to stick to what everyone already knows about the Constructicons on a surface level. In other words if you've seen any G1 episode they feature in this comic will provide a similar experience.
3) The Enigma. Now I get why its included as its part of the lore of "Ancient but God-like power up Macguffins" like everything else Transformers related but its inclusion just makes Devastator's origins obvious. More so it tells me that the writers don't have the confidence to focus on the Constructicons as individuals. So this isn't "The early careers of the Constructicons" as much "The birth of Devastator and joining the Decepticons". I know we haven't seen Devastator in-comic but the fact they reveal the Enigma and its significance in the profile reads is a dead give away.
I may be wrong in the coming months but I've seen similar writing styles IDW Sonic the Hedgehog and IDW 2019 Transformers to know that this new comic is just going to be more of the same.

I wonder if there will be Omega Supreme ties as well.

I am glad they are going to explore the Constructions as characters rather than have them just be \'other cons\', if that makes sense.

Interesting new place to start reading

I don't mind the Enigma being the key to combiners. What I do mind is how, through the comics and Machinima, it became a lazy catch-all that could do much more than just make combiners. Whenever any plot device pertaining to combination was needed, they always defaulted back to the Enigma. It became more logical to question what the Enigma COULDN'T do.

When’s the release date ?

Well well, this one looks promising. After the underwhelming letdown the main series has been, this is more than welcome

Haven't been keeping up with the ongoing series but I've always liked the Constructicons. This looks really great so far and I find myself not minding Livio's art either. I guess it works for something with a "let me tell you a story…" vibe.

Right there with you; seems like fairly solid characterization right off the bat, which is a refreshing change of pace. I may keep an eye on this.

I’m seeing 9/25.

Read these, sounds like great story for me!

Looks like I might have to eat a little crow. I was very critical of the author, largely because of his inexperience, but if these panels are indicative of the overall quality then color me impressed. The dialogue flows pretty well, and he is able to squeeze out some decent characterization in just a few lines. Indeed these five pages impart about as much information as an entire issue of the ongoing series.

Odd way of saying that it's as much science fantasy as much as it is science fiction. That's been true since at least 1986 when Unicron and the Matrix were introduced.

Is this coming out this Wednesday? I feel like I’m always asking. Thank you.
Looks great. Very excited.

It’s not really that conflicted when you stop to think about it.

Hey, Termagax, why didn’t you answer Scavenger’s questions?

I wasn’t trying to make sense of it. Just making fun of their conflicted origin in the cartoon.
