Leyou; the benefactor of Certain Affinity game studio visited ChinaJoy 2019 convention to tell the fans about their upcoming projects. Among the details is the recently revealed Transformers Online; a third person shooter based on the popular Hasbro franchise.
First of all, the company confirmed the name as Transformers Online. In fact, this is the first public reveal of the project following the press information which dropped back in February.
As speculated by us, the game will release on PC as well as on Consoles and it will be Free-To-Play. However, they are not committing to a release date at the moment.
Leyou also iterated that Certain Affinity worked on AAA titles such as Halo and Call Of Duty. Therefore, assuring the quality of the game.
Though it is difficult to tell by the released information, the press document highly suggests that the game will be based on Generation 1 or its likeness, instead of Movieverse which served as the basis for the discontinued Transformers: Online game in China.
“the TRANSFORMERS property, including associated logos, copyrights, and characters and their respective likenesses (as portrayed in products sold during the period beginning 1984 and ending 1995 sometimes referred to as “TRANSFORMERS GENERATION I” and which may also include iconography and various stylized iterations of the same created such as TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS launched in 2010 and relaunched in 2012″

The game is alive but we might have to wait until SGF
Shizuka
We were told that there would be news this year in December.
comicstar100
So is this thing just not coming out? The toyline already launched and we haven't even seen a gameplay trailer.
Luke Stark
Well I guess if no marketing starts this month my only thought is now Summer Game Fest
While that may seem like longer away but who knows might be the best time for the trailer to be shown off

I agree with you there, the American gaming industry certainly is getting close to be dead and I don't see it getting better anytime soon.
We definitely are at a scary turning point, especially with the rise of AI and automation. Sure it's still not the best and quite up to par yet, but I can guarantee in a few years when it is, a lot of positions will be glassed earth for the cheaper option and then will be a very dark time in gaming. Yes I think there will be a mass push/revolution in all media industries when the suits push AI over artists in general in the semi near future even harder.
But we are not there yet, we are right at the calm before the storm, and not quite into the full shit storm yet, and also nowhere near coming to some kind of resolution.
Not going to lie, it also pushed me out too. A couple years back, I was working on a few indie projects but couldn't quite get the ball rolling and when I kinda started did, so many shit storms went down that I kinda just fell off and worked on it less and eventually kinda just moved it.
Now I am deathly afraid to go back because of what so many suits are doing, especially with the shit that Unity tried to pull. But it's for the best, game development has gotten so goddamn expensive that it's genuinely not worth the massive risk you have to take to try and get something to work out.

Yeah, realize this is an old post, but unfortunately every single peer of mine in game development is either now unemployed/about to lose their home, or has been out of work for two years while trying to switch to another industry. Game development is just unfortunately not a viable route for employment anymore, and I'm not exaggerating when I say American game development is on the verge of extinction.
Like, American game development is now where American film production was in 1969. Realize most here probably weren't around for that, but professors were actively advising Freshman to drop out of film programs or switch majors because they seriously believed the American film industry would be dead in less than 5 years. As few as 5 studio films were being produced a year by major American studios at that point, as opposed to dubbing/releasing foreign films. Like, if not for "The Godfather" and the midnight circuit single handedly saving the box office, there wouldn't be American films today.
I don't really know if a similar curveball is on the horizon with the American game industry, but it looks similarly bleak to back then.

I guess that could be true
Plus not all gamers tune in to the streams so that might make sense
But I guess we will see what happens

It is definitely strange, everything I've been told points towards something happening this month potentially, but the Pulse streams really don't make huge sense from a marketing perspective so I don't know really.
Aernaroth
With no offense meant to the Pulse Streams, they seem to pull in the >50K views ballpark, I would expect that trailers for those two major projects would go to an outlet that will get more views (or at least be coordinated with major outlets), instead of a reveal on a Pulse Stream.
Luke Stark
What would be cool if possible to end with a bang is TF One and TFR Trailers on the last stream
snokoan
I feel like if anything for reactivate it may be the last stream of the month. For them to end it with a bang
Luke Stark
Anyways this isn't the main point of this chat
But I would like it if TFR will showcase anything
If not then I guess sometime in April-June we could expect something but April would be a good choice for the first piece of marketing if not this month
Fenrys
You misunderstand. Blaster was an exclusive, Optimus is a 1 figure a year sorta deal. There's also a full wave of Studio Series to be shown off that you didn't list, so it's not a matter of them not having enough SS figures to show off, it's a matter of when they'll show them off.
Luke Stark
Well they did it with Blaster last week
So if Hasbro doesn't have enough to show off for Studio Series they will just have to show off one figure at a time
Plus 86 Optimus Prime is fine to show off on it's own with it being the 40th anniversary which is why he was made to be a Commander figure
Fenrys
Studio Series wave 2 needs reveals and preorders as well, not just random figures like SS86 Prime
Luke Stark
To be honest it would make sense if it did
Hasbro has 4 weeks of streams
First stream was for Star Raiders and 86 Blaster with Eject
Here is what I see for the later Streams
While Wave 2 of United is basically out, Hasbro is most likely to showcase the figures in one of the streams since they haven't already
Transformers: Reactivate must be another one since it's highly likely a trailer to be shown off thanks to the recent rumors from RoboGamer saying a trailer is being close to be finished and ready to show off
The other two would be any other Studio Series figures like 86 Commander Optimus Prime and this would also be a great time to show of Transformers One trailer if possible
I know these streams are mainly for toys but I find it weird there needs to be four weeks of this where two weeks you can show off all the figures you need to not four
So one of these streams must be for Reactivate and One
But I guess we will see what's tomorrow

Important to emphasize grain of salt on this one. While I have kept my ear very close to the ground and have heard a good few things from the rumour mill, I cannot be certain yet. I haven't been given anything concrete that'd give me full confidence. But the word on the street is that Trailer 2 is coming this month, presumably during the fanstreams.
Dirge121
That’s what I was looking for, thank you.
Soundlips
I know both the sources referencing this and it definitely has some meat to the argument, but take it with a grain a salt.
At least two people I know and have chatted with have supposedly direct sources who worked or have worked with Splash and have I guess what could be insider info or rumors that could be.
One was a dev and the other working with the trailer, so I would wager it is coming eventually, but the main question is when.
Dirge121
You said Robogamer stated it on Twitter. Does Robogamer work for Splash Damage? Or have anything concrete that would provide credibility to the claim? Thats what I’m trying to get at. Is there any reason to have any stock in this claim?
