Via TransFans Facebook we have our first look at the gray Prototype of Zeta Toys Bumblebee Movie Blitzwing.
Zeta Toys bring us a very nice rendition of Blitzwing which seems to be in the right scale compared to Zeta’s Zeta-V ZV-01 Pioneer (VW Beetle Bumblebee). This means he’s considerably bigger than the first Zeta’s Bumblebee.
We can see the figure both in robot and jet mode from different angles, so you can spot all pros and cons of the mold at the moment. Keep in mind that this is an early prototype and several changes may be done in the final product. Click on the bar to see the mirrored images and then share your impressions about this mold on the 2005 Boards!

so.. my main issue with the Zeta figure is that the wimgs look kinda strange.. but it looks like you should be able to tilt the wing tips a bit more to make it look a bit less broken. Has anyone done that yet?

I just watched the Sun of the Empire video, and I actually don't get the reviewer's gripe about the Zeta version being difficult to transform. It was pretty quick and painless. Then again, maybe the reviewer went too much into detail on the transformation. The darn review was 60 minutes long.

True, wings looks much better on BMB in bot mode whereas Zeta’s one is serviceable. To me the main body is the reason I prefer zeta. The torso looks solid, he has a crotch, legs look powerful, back is clean and the entire torso is positioned correctly unlike BMB where the entire torso is positioned too low resulting in the crotch piece being crushed ( though it results in the face being more visible ). I can’t wait for more comparisons.
I’m really liking what I’m seeing so far. Missiles to kill him with is integrated into the arms ( it flips out just like in the movie ) and the flight stand for the posing is a huge plus for me. I need them to improve the paint and plastic color though. BMB looks much better despite the overdone weathering.

Yeah looks a bit better but if we're being picky (which we can be since we have options) I like the look of the SX wings a lot more in general. Zeta seems to be the better figure overall whereas SX seems to be the better display piece. At least that's my understanding given the information we have so far on both. I would love to have both in hand to compare! But I need to start limiting my spending so I won't be getting either ATM.

I’m going with Zeta Toys I think. Everything looks better except the hands and the wings. Plus some paint and markings.

Looking at that they have sorted the cockpit windows out as well.

View attachment 28934693This is the final product. So I think they will fix the wings. Meanwhile, I bite SX

I think SX may be the better looking of the two overall, but the fact that the reviewer comments multiple times about how much more solid zeta seems to be (in multiple ways) makes me lean towards that one. I just REALLY wish they had done a better job with the tips of the wings, since they are not angled properly and look very simplistic compared to the rest.

No problem. I completed the summary. I'll go back later to fix any grammar or spelling mistakes.
I definitely think it's going to be a tough decision for people deciding between the 2 after watching the video.

Thanks for translating bud. That's very nice of you

1. He starts off by showing the hand accessory and the base. The base can be folded up.
2. He shows how the gun can be attached to the nose and the dual-cockpit hatch.
3. He shows off all the things you can attach to the bottom of the jet mode.
4. The wheels can roll, but the figure is kinda heavy.
5. Says the bottom isn't as complete as SX Thunder Warrior.
6. Roughly the same size as SX.
7. Points out the weird coloring of the rear of the jet is also in this version. Otherwise, there's a lot of detail on it as well.
8. The paint job style is different. This version looks like it's dusty, while the SX looks more greasy. I think he's saying they look like grease stains on the SX model.
9. Says the transformation is also complicated, but it's nowhere near as bad as the SX. It's more elegant and things are just more well designed. The goes into the looooooong transformation explanation.
10. Once he completes the transformation, he says it looks very nice. I think he's saying the looks better than the SX version. He does criticize the transformation, but I don't know what he's saying about it. He does say that the figure holds together very nicely. Everything tabs in, and no loose parts. He likes it a lot.
11. Compared to the SX, Zeta's looks cleaner, but he emphasizes that the Zeta has a dusty look. The SX version looks greasy, and also feels a little incomplete with the paint job.
12. He also likes Zeta's details more. He goes into the differences between the 2 little wings on his shoulders and how they're different, same with that piece of the hips. Finds the lower half of the Zeta version more satisfying.
13. He reiterates how loose all the panels are in the SX version and dislikes how the wings can be tabbed in. The Zeta version feels more solid and improves on all the flaws of SX.
14. SX has a big backpack. He likes the back of the Zeta the best. Says he likes it even more than the 3A figure. He think the Zeta back looks flatter than even the 3A.
15. The backs look pretty similar. Says the 3A has bigger booster jets in the back cause it doesn't have to worry about transforming. Both SX and Zeta have those black strip of exposed parts on the wing. The 3A version only exposes those parts halfway. The 4 little wings in the back of the 3A model is also in the Zeta model, but not SX. Likes the back of the Zeta's legs as well. Once again shows how loose the panels are in the SX's legs.
16. To him, the SX figure is very beautiful. The upper part of the robot mode looks closer to the Zeta version. He says the Zeta model is a little more simplified with the paint job. He says the upper part of the body looks more like G1 than the movie. The best part of Zeta is the backpack is well done. Better detail on the little things such as the hidden missiles on his arm. Everything tabs in nicely. It's just a more solidly built model.
17. The SX is really beautiful, he loves the paint job the most, but he can't stand all the floppy parts.
18. He thinks the same designer sold the design to 2 different companies. The feels the transformations are a little clumsy. Note that clumsy is my interpretation and not an exact translation.
19. The fuel tank is the biggest on the Zeta version.
20. The mask is smaller in the SX version and bigger in the Zeta version. The eyes on the other hand are bigger in SX and smaller in Zeta. The SX version has bigger and bright lights than Zeta. He thinks the SX eyes looks like a wide eye kid. The Zeta version is more accurate. He compares it to the 3A model and the 3A also has a bigger mask with smaller and dimmer eye lights.
21. The glass windows are also different colors. He think the SX version looks more like veteran in the battlefield while the Zeta version feels more new and fresh recruit.
22. The little details are better painted in the SX version, but those lines around the body and the wings are too thick.
23. The SX version is also the same height as the 3A figure.
24. The 3A absolutely looks the best, and the best articulation, but it can't transform. The SX version has the best paint job and also the same height as the 3A figure. The Zeta version has the best head sculpt and everything tabs in nice and tight.
25. Both of them are hard to transform. Each have their own advantages and disadvantages. It's really up to individual taste.
26. Both figures uses very good plastic material. He also believe the joints in the Zeta figure is die-cast or some kind of alloy. Very sturdy. He actually thinks the 3A figure's plastic feels lower quality than both 3rd party figures.
27. The Zeta toy is 729g.
28. He thinks that both companies put a lot of effort into their figures. He believes the flaws lie with the design, and not the companies being lazy.
29. He says the SX doesn't stand too well. The legs are short and the joint's not very tight. Zeta stands better. The feet are wider, and the weight is well distributed.
30. Zeta has ratchet joint on the hips, while Zeta has regular friction joints.
31. Hard to say which is better. Both figures have obvious flaws. He's pointed them all out.
32. The shoulders on Zeta are a little bit narrower than 3A. The 3A shoulder width is 12.5, Zeta is 12 and SX is 10.5.
33. He also thinks the 3A Bumblebee is actually too big now that he has them together.
MAZING
Can the facemask be removed like the other version? I actually really like that feature.
svek
I like that they keep including LEDs for the alt modes
realwhz
His points:
head sculpture: ZT's is better than SX's
upper body including wings: SX's looks better than ZT's
height: SX's is scaled better than ZT's
weight: ZT's is 729g, much heavier than SX's
tabs: ZT's is much better than SX's, leg parts are no longer loose. He said SX's misses a lot of necessary tabs.
design wise: ZT's is more complete and mature than SX's, but both are difficult to transform. SX's uses more real parts of jet to form the bot (small wings on shoulder, the thigh, etc)
material: ZT's and SX's are equally good (he actually thinks 30's is worse LoL)
paint: ZT's is "newer" and "cleaner" than SX's
stability: ZT's feet are bigger but SX's uses ratchet joints for legs
bottom line: both have pros and cons, hard to decide which is better
olevelo
OK, I think the stand that can be used for either bot in bot mode sold me on this one. Friggin brilliant.
Ottertron
Yeah, I saw that but they don't seem as prone to popping off as the panels on this one.
octobotimus
The BMB one apparently has the entire wings on small ball joints.
