Via TFND – Transformers Never Die Public Group | Facebook we have our first in-hand images of the new Transformers Studio Series SS-45 Age Of Extinction Drift (Helicopter mode).
This is a very extensive retool of Studio Series SS-22 helicopter Dropkick with impressive results. The helicopter mode looks very nice and the robot mode is well designed. Of course, Drift can use his two big swords, that can form the helicopter blades too. We also have comparison shots next to SS-22 Dropkick and SS-36 The Last Knight Drift.

He looks pretty cool. I'd definitely pick this one up if I get the chance to do so.

I will say that I do wish the movie designs took toy feasibility into account, but I understand why they don't

I also just realized he did not consider RotF Rampage, Mixmaster, Soundwave, and the Legends Constructicons, and all of the Studio Series Constructicons. So there's that.

Looks sweet!
Will be getting Sky Drift to go along with Dino Drift!

Yeah, the whole “they can’t look like G1, it would never work” thing pretty much went out the window.

Huh.
I have no real affection for Movie Drift (he\'s kind of an embarrasing throwback of a character, tbh) but that helicopter mode is strangely compelling.
Maximus Danz
Yeah know, this will probably be good. I have the dropkick, his robot mode is TRASH but the helicopter was greats. this seems to fix some robot mode issues.

Anyone else clicked the thread going "I don't remember a character called Sky Drift"?

BB Movie was really a mixing of the 2 styles. None of them were entirely blocky.
GoldDeadEnd
Invoking Airachnid! Damning indeed. I've only had a problem with loose legs. Hopefully the car version is more pleasing across the board (unintentional pun). I know I hope jet Shatter is better than car Shatter, because that figure is the worst SS by a mile for me.
Dachande
I owned the figure for a day and returned it. The gun wouldn't stay together, the head was glued in place, the legs were loose and the side engines popped off in the package. The rotor not actually spinning was just icing on the cake.
I would dare call it the movie-toy version of Airachnid.
GoldDeadEnd
That sucks. Haven't had any issues myself but I'll take extra care now.

Blue part on the leg that holds the stabilizer.
GoldDeadEnd
I agree on the blue.
What part broke?

Looked great in Bumblebee movie, IMO.

Looks fun! Small, unfortunately, but solid. Don’t need, but I’m sure it will make other collectors happy.

There's no excuse. All of those early toys came well before the animation because they were preexisting toyines.i would say what we got even in 07 had a greater passing resemblance to what was on screen than what I would expect.

I mean, if people don't know…..
