3P company Newage had recently revealed their Legends scale Insecticons, and now they surprise us with their first variant: H-10+ Abadon (Kickback), H-11+ Berial (Shrapnel) & H-12+ Asmodeus (Bombshell) in correct G1 cartoon colors.
These small but cool Legends sized Insecticons now show more gray in different areas, that match the colors seen in the G1 cartoon. A very nice option to choose between the toy-accurate first release.
These figures are expected for release by August this year. You may look for a pre-order via our sponsors below. Check the mirrored images after the jump and then share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

nope.
TurtleCaps
You have the originals that youre gonna switch the clear chest plates?
deaculpa
cracked and ordered the clear set of these. i’ll paint-marker them to my liking.
Currywurst
Washed the paint off, painted him again, managed to clear coat him.
I'm happy with the result as long as it the clear coat can protect the paint from chipping.

wish these guys (G1) were in stock @ showz, got some points to burn and an itchy finger today…

only option is the regular release that's black. SG is for all intent and purpose IS still black. but it just has a slightly warmer hue to it which most if not all would not really notice or be bothered by, unless you are super critical and anal, which i can be. you really need the right light and hold it up close side by side to see the actual difference. but even for me it's so slight that i'm perfectly fine with it. especially since even if you were to paint it, there would probably still be a marginal difference in look between paint and plastic. also there is no other options for a swap as the toon version is most definitely grey and not black.
DoubleClouder
Sorry quoted wrong post. TIKnTIN said the blacks weren't the same on the SG and regular release, so I was asking if toon was closer. I only have the toy version of the set and the SG has been on it's way to me for a few weeks now.
Currywurst
Closer than what?
The + version is a dark gray.
I was happy enough with the result on the first try. But then the paint started chipping as I handled it.
Then I tried to fix it up and I got striping in the black paint.
I hope if I wash it all off and start again it'll look good again. But then I'll have to try and clear coat it without chipping the paint again.
DoubleClouder
Is the black on the SG one closer to the + (aka show version)?
TIKnTIN
that's why i opted NOT to paint mine and instead do the swap. if i hadn't gotten the extra bombshell without having to buy the entire reg set, i don't think i would have bothered picking up the SG set.
Currywurst
I'm a cheapskate, so I worked on my guy with a black paint pen. Not completely happy with the result due to paint chipping and stuff. So I'm going to clean him up, try it again, and try to get a clear coat on him afterwards.

yeah… but like i said, they couldn't possibly achieve both given their design. so they were damned if they did, or damned if they don't going red or black. but i guess like myself, you'd have preferred they have gone with black.
i know there's been quite a lot of grumbling on these forums about how long it's been taking for them to get stuff from ShowZ, but damn… these guys showed up damn quick for me!
leg transplant done on bombshell, just need to apply some red paint ups.
FYI to anyone looking to do the same. you can't tell by my photo but there's an ever so slight variance (as usual) between the black parts of the original release versus this SG one. the SG has a faint warm brown/grey tone to it and isn't as dark black. in most light, it's not really noticeable so i'm fine with the results, but the difference is there.

Yeah I meant more that they changed it from the original deco, not that they changed it from a testshot. Guess I was unclear on it.
Curium
I expect when he said "changed" he meant from the original deco release of the toy, not a change on the repaint itself after announcement.
TIKnTIN
NA didn't change anything as they announced this with photos of it all red right from the start. they either had to pick red for the bot or black for the beetle due to they way they made the transformation. the bot/red won out.

US stores always have to charge a bit more – i know ToyDojo has stocked less and less legends because of it. But it’s still interesting to see them advertised for $100 right under a post saying they got them for $50.
comeonridethatastrotrain
Well considering TCP is based in the U.S. and has to import them, I would assume they would need to charge more.
