Takara Tomy Mall website has just added a new listing of a Transformers 35th Anniversary Convoy & Optimus Prime Set that we are sure will catch your attention.
This set consists of a G1 Convoy (Optimus Prime) reissue with no trailer in classic Japanese G1 packaging and a special redeco in G1 colors of Studio Series SS-38 Bumblebee Movie Optimus Prime (that also looks movie-accurate) with an special G1 style box and art.
The Takara Tomy listing is already taking pre-orders for 10,800 Yen or $ 100.00 approximately for both figures. They are expected for release on late December, 2019. The item description also indicates that this is a very limited release, with only one order per person and limited to 3 pieces as maximum.

I purchased these on the following reasons:
– I never owned G1 OP mold
– I didn't managed to snag SS-38 before, though it appeared a single time in front of me I was hesitant getting it.
– Japanese G1 Box Retro Art
– I find SS-38 having g1 toon deco amusing
– G1 OP (Walmart) is sold here at Studio Series Leader Class price point.
I'll get the Walmart G1 OP maybe. But in a Clearance Sale Price.
It's being sold here as a regular released item but at price point of a Studio Series Leader Class which for me it's hard to digest considering it lacks a Trailer. Meanwhile this offering of G1 OP only costs me around price point of Studio Series Voyager Class.
If you buy it $50 each yes, it's a bit expensive.
But I'm in South East Asian territory so the price is cheaper.

So I got this set around $85-90 overall shipping included.
G1 OP will remain MISB until either takara or hasbro releases a G1 OP with Trailer.
I already opened the SS-38 from this set. I finally owning that mold, I was blown away fiddling it.
No wonder 3P companies are milking SS-38 design.
I don't mind picking up OS/3P version of it. Aoyi Mech LS-13 perhaps.
Now this may prompt me to buy Studio Series BB solo movie version. Though I don't like the mandatory door wings in it. Did some 3P fixed that door wings to folded down?

1. the JAF-2000 Con Black G1 Optimus Prime repaint,
2. the 2001 G1 Book-style Convoy,
3. the 2011 Encore version and
4. the 2002 New Year blue eyes G1 Edition Prime.

Just preordered mine. I'm mostly just in it for the SS figure with the retro box. I already have a boxed G1 Optimus (with a trailer), but it never hurts to have a spare I guess.

yup me too. IMHO, this was supposed to be what Takara's own version of SS38 was supposed to look like had they released this separately in their own Studio Series toy line.
