Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner attended the 35th Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference in New York, to say a few words about his company. He had lots of nice things to say about Transformers.
Mr. Goldner stated:
“We partner with Paramount to make a major feature length films. The most notable one recently was Bumblebee. It came out last year and had great success in re-engaging fans, families and kids all over the world. [We are] very happy with the result; not just here but in China. Re-engaging our fans which leads to this full blueprint activation.
When people ask me what do I mean by ‘activating the blueprint?’, it really means that we’re bringing to life that brand on any number of dimensions. So, whether it’s our Backflip Studios mobile gaming studio in Boulder, Colorado making our Transformers: Earth Wars mobile game or whether it’s t-shirts or comic books or bringing to life a location based entertainment experience in Asia, we’re able to bring this brand to life across all elements of the blueprint.”
He further stated “For 2019, a number of new entertainment initiatives for new consumer demographics” and displayed the release dates of the said initiatives as a slide:
- 2019 Spring – Transformers: Bumblebee movie Home Release
- 2019 Spring – New Season of Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy (on Discovery Family)
- 2019 Fall – Transformers: Cyberverse Chapter 2 – Power Of The Spark (on Cartoon Network & You Tube)

If there were anything else, something else would've been posted in the news article. What kind of nonsense post is that?

Because those 5 films were all critically panned, the last film lost millions. They were so bad that many avoided Bumblebee despite the changes. That's where the re-engagement comes in.

Bumblebee did much better than The Last Knight, and represents a success even though fewer people might have gone and seen it in the theaters.
Which is understandable, considering there was no telling what kind of movie Bumblebee was going to be, given how much of a dumpster fire Bay's crap became.
However, it's still an indisputable fact that Bumblebee's direction proved very popular, especially after Bay nearly wrecked it, and Hasbro and Paramount have come to realize you can't get away with a movie being pure eye-candy; it needs a cohesive (and at that, well-written) story behind it.

"Why do we need to re-engage the fans after 5 movies? Does low box office equal fan re-engagement? Sorry, we won't be taking any thoughtful critical questions."
Yikes.
