Author Brian Ruckley shared the title of the next Transformers arc earlier this month and now IDW Manager, Creative Development / Senior Editor Tom Waltz sends us off into the weekend with a question whose answer may very well lie ahead:
How will #Bumblebee react to the fateful & fatal events of Transformers #5?

The art looks pretty good.

That's Frenzy tho'.

that kinda talk'll get you drawn 'n' quartered round these parts.

The movie storyboard is meaningless. The animation is pretty much irrelevant to the story.

Hey, the movie storyboard for that scene proved it once and for all that Bombshell became Cyclonus.
Consider it the other way all you want.
RodimusRex
I consider Bombshell to be the Armada in the foreground with Cyclonus as the second one. Much more poetry, particularly as — in addition to color schemes — Cyclonus and Scourge ACT LIKE Skywarp and Thundercracker.
The script isn’t very helpful but maybe whoever wrote the Season 3 episode bible (Flint Dille? Marv Wolfman?) could be definitive.
It’s pretty absurd to me to elevate a nobody like Bombshell to Cyclonus’ stature. Regardless of what we’re shown.
I always wanted to see more characters get new names and Unicron upgrades. It bugs me that IDW had Starscream get upgraded in a one shot and he kept his name and just used the PotP toy model.
I wanted to see him become — I dunno — Pulsar or Dervish or something and get a new character model.
I love the idea of replacing characters with new character models and names. It’s almost more dramatic than killing a character. Dead people come back. We never really got to see Galvatron become Megatron again (although that would be a cool extended storyline).

Man, I hope all these new characters turn out to be old characters instead. Innovation is bad unless it's it innovation that I want.
IgnikaMarcus
I don't mind either, though I did need to fix one thing about this.
Scurv
I did think that at one point, but then I remembered the whole Tarn/Roller fake out.
Honestly, I wish he started going insane after the attack, put a faceplate on and slowly morphed into Bombshell over the series lol.

We should probably update the thread title. This is not a new series.

I’m inclined to agree with this theory now. You’re not the first to speculate this, but this is easily the best argument for it being true.
Can someone post a pic of the arms?
RodimusRex
Come on guys.
“The WORLD in your eyes.”
“The CRACKS BENEATH YOUR FEET.”
Rubble is a GEOLOGIST.
This whole thing is an origin story for Rubble becoming Rumble.
EDIT: If you needed a bigger clue, the markings on Rubble’s arms are the Decepticon cassette emblems from Rumble and Frenzy’s feet.
Scurv
Probably not. He's probably in repair bay with his head caved in and Bumblebee blames himself for not being there.
Scoff
Also a possibility.
Scoff
Could be. Prowl did mention him in one of the previous issues and it sounded like he was off-world or something.

I believe this merely reveals the next story arc within the current Transformers series, and not a new series entirely (since this one is said to run for 12 issues).

When I was a kid, we had all these horrible, dumb, frequently pun-riffic comic story titles. I'm feeling really nostalgic for them these days. I'm not saying that there's no merit to titles such as "Cracks Beneath Your Feet", but I miss completely stupid, unpretentious shit like "X-TINCTION AGENDA", "Plight of the Bumblebee!" and "CAR WASH OF DOOM".
Issy543
No. This is the next story arc, continuing where issue #5 left off.
