Following our coverage of the next five part arc in the new Transformers series, The Cracks Beneath Your Feet, artist Alex Milne shared a special line art look at his cover A for issue #12:
It features Nautica and Road Rage. When creating the look for Nautica I did half former comic / half toy with a few little extras. Figured it was a nice mix.
As an update to our August 2019 solicitations post, TFW2005 member BombSquad found that artist Kei Zama will not be drawing interiors for this issue so we look forward to revised credits. In the meantime: (W) Brian Ruckley (CA) Alex Milne.
Check out the attached artwork and then share your thoughts about it on the 2005 boards!

Agree but we are getting there….

Better would equal the quality we came to expect from IDW1. This is far from that quality.
Omegax80
Is there the one cover for TF 84? The solicit says CVR A so I would think there is a B or an RI.
That A cover is nice, I might just stick with that anyway.
SuperTitanHans
YES!
Thundershot
That’s kind of strange. You’d think they’d want the cover design to match whatever the interior art is gonna be…

No go bots lol
I think things are getting better.
Predakwon
Just integrate Go bots. That'd be different.

I do have to wonder where this continuity is heading. It’s just sort of stumbling through right now without any sense of direction or purpose.
Other readers are making it sound better than it actually is in discussions but to me, the writing, characterisation and artwork are poor. I wouldn’t mind if it was a mini-series for the main idw continuity but it’s an entire new continuity.
Protostar
Ah yes, a reminder of "even though we're starting a new continuity, we can never truly escape our predecessor"

Same, it's fun learning about characters I never knew existed. I'm curious how Ruckley even found out about the character, since her masterpiece bio seems like a perfect fit for issue 12's synopsis.
IDW should hire Milne to draw Windblade. Every cover and its interiors can be drawn by other artists, but Windblade will be drawn only by Milne.

Alex Milne!!!! *squeeeeee*

I mean most of the conversation in this thread shows she does not get a pass for it. In fact you could easily argue that Windblade's contention is far more then Drift's, because Drift's nearly completely disappeared once MTMTE began and his personality got a complete overhaul, but Windblade was introduced 5 years ago and her appearance still sparks arguments in every single thread ever. Drift has also appeared in every single continuity that Windblade has, bar the terrible Prime Wars cartoon, but people don't really react to him showing up anymore.
That being said, OG Drift will always be far more eye-roll worthy. His original story was the most generic OC backstory you could ever dream of.

Or the return of Road Rage for that matter.
pluto
Imagine still being pissed about windblade such that it blinds you to being excited about the return of Milne
Omegashark18
Had to look up Road Rage to understand what all the hubbub was about.
Now I get it.
avengerboy123
Milne is only back for the cover right?
MyTea Boc
Good to see Nautica again!
Override Prime
They're actually using Road Rage in something!?

Scoff
Yeah, she was drawn without one in the Wings Universe so I wasn't surprised.

I hope it's retractable because I think faceplates look cool and don't think I've seen a lot of female characters with one. It's something I liked about Dust-Up's design. Not only did she have a faceplate but it wasn't just a battlemask: it was permanent like Grimlock's.
