Via 爆料人小明 on Weibo and Trans Fans Facebook we have our first look at the new Movable Metal Arts IDW Optimus Prime Prototype.
New 3P Company Movable Metal Arts (MMA) is bringing a very nice rendition of the Autobot Leader as seen in the first IDW comics. The prototype reveals a very detailed and highly poseable figure with a Matrix chamber on his chest and a wide range of movement. From the looks of it, the mold seems non transformable.
There’s still not concrete information about material, scale, price or release date, but stay tuned with TFW2005 for more information once it’s available. Click on the bar to see all the images and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

Even if you don't understand Mandarin, you can hear his enthusiasm draining during the articulation. tl,dw: Nice display piece, don't buy if you actually plan to play with it.

Attempting to fix everything wrong with this guy. So no major breaks taking him apart so we’ll see how the rest goes.

Companies are going to figure out a way to hit their MSRP. If it wasn't the bike it'd be something else that you'd be saying you wish wasn't included. I understand that everyone has different budgets and priorities and there's no right or wrong to that but just like accessories for figures are optional so is every other aspect of the hobby including figures themselves.
NP and thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Thanks for reviewing this Kuma. Sadly it only confirmed what I feared a while ago. This was a big miss, and not even the nice looking paint can save it. This isn’t toppling GCreation Ultra Maxmas for me

I simply wouldn't want to pay for a useless accessory that takes up close to half the price of the figure. setting it aside wouldn't give me that money back.

Worst piece I've gotten in some time.

Not really. Aspects of different Optimus interpretations have pretty much so synonymous with the character that it's becoming more regular to see accessories intermixed; for example Flame Toys pulling from the Bay movie's iteration for inspiration with their Kuro Kara Kuri line Optimus whichis IDW based in spirit.
In the end; they're optional accessories. If you (not you personally) don't want to use them, don't. If you think one accessory would look better on another character then use it on that character. I don't believe in a such thing as too many options.

Bigger question for why it comes with him is the fact that it was a completely different Optimus design that rode it…

Ah, I thought I remembered reading it. Been a long time since. Pretty cool, but pretty much just used in that one instance and a couple of frames for a very specific situation where he's in a room too small to transform in. Cool I guess but kinda wierd to own as if it was something he used often. Also wierd coz the bike is massive so it kinda even goes against the whole point of why he used to bike mode in the first place.
Would still be cooler to pair the bike with a character that isn't so known for turning into a rolling vehicle himself, but I guess I like Junkions as they kinda use the rider as a partner to help fire etc. But they also both have robot modes and blah blah anyway whatever I'll stop being a black cloud.

Read the comic. Bike is sick and has a neat back story.

The bike is cool but wouldn't it be more practical for OP to just transform?
I'd rather put Dinobot on it or something. Would prolly look more badass.

Already unboxed and together but thing to note before sharing the unboxing video:
– Everything's loose with nothing holding anything down at all.
– The figure's head was off of the body out of the box and one of the back wing pieces that pegs onto the backs of the shoulders was off with a peg broken.
– one of the hands was missing a thumb.
Haven't gotten to play with it and dig in yet but joint tolerances seemed to be all over the place. Just a q.c. mess.

Careful. In my original post overviewing the figure I mentioned one of his legs was lose at the hip joint but it was just broken. The joint was tight and when I moved the leg I think broke the post that the hip joints are attached to.
Edit:
The rod that the joint is on for OUTWARD leg movement is what broke. If that makes sense.

Came in today. Out and can't open till later but box quality is pure crap. Paper thin cardboard sleeves over straight styrofoam.

The price of this in China has been slashed to almost half.

That’s my biggest problem with GCreation Prime sadly, and that one still looks better (besides paint) and it’s a better scale. So yeah this release underwhelms and offers me nothing new. I’m glad you were able to review it though, I hope it at least makes your display look cooler. I’ll continue waiting for ThreeA DLX Prime.

So mine finally showed up after being stuck in customs for 3 weeks.
First off the box is HUGE. Due to the fact that the motorcycle and figure are in separate boxes which may indicate plans to release the figure by itself in the future if the company hasn't already gone under since it seems like I'm the only person on earth who bought this figure.

Quick first impression is that the figure looks great! and feels pretty good in hand thanks to all the diecast. The few joints I tried moving were pretty tight but the hips seem a little flimsy compared to the rest of the figure. Had to run back to work but will mess with him more later and comeback with some additional thoughts.

Edit: Update of figure.
This guy has some decent highs and a few lows. First, almost everything from the head down to his waist is fine. Head and neck move great. Windscreen hinges are a little loose but it’s no big deal. Shoulders are pretty tight and should hold about any pose. Double jointed elbows work great and have decent tension but there is a little bit of a clearance issue that causes the paint to rub/chip. Might be avoidable depending on how you approach the elbow bend. Hands snap in nice and tight and hold his guns well. So that was improved since the original review. Waist swivel and ab crunch all work fine. Hip skirts are have a nice tolerance to them. The the hip joints on mine are bad. The outward and forward and back are super floppy. Not so much that he isn’t going to hold a standing pose but forget about any kind of jumping pose on the included stand, his legs will just dangle. Upper thigh rotation is loose at one point of the rotation then hits a spot where it’s scary tight. Knees are great, ankles, feet and toes are all fine and easy to pose and work with. Guns and swords all seem really solid. I don’t think I’ll be bothering with the cycle though.
It’s really too bad about the hips. If there is one thing to make a figure feel cheep it’s legs flopping around the second you pick him up. I think maybe they just over engineered that bit when MP10 style ratchets would have been fine especially since he has those hip skirts that move so far out of the way.

I still like this figure for display purposes, my only nit-pic as far as esthetics go is that the upper thighs look like they are suffering from mold degradation due to bad sculpt I presume and the closed fist sculpt looks rough as well, but that’s about it. Final note, I paid more for him than banana force red sharpshooter as well as 3A bumblebee movie Prime and BOTH of those figures are a couple levels beyond this guy.

Hope they listen to fans and release it without the bike
