Yesssssssssssssss. Masterpiece Beast Wars Megatron is in the building! MP-43 is a beast of a fig (some pun intended), giving the leader of the Predacons a worthy representation on any Beast Wars fan’s shelves. Standing taller than both MP-10 and MP-36, he’s a big bot. Transformation is similar to the original, with lots of added flips and tucks of course, resulting in very show accurate looks in both modes. HQ paint is present, giving the entire beast mode a 3D look to homage the show, while the robot mode gets metallic sheen everywhere. Accessories are solid with a show accurate rifle, toothbrush for his dino teeth, 2 extra faces and clips so he can use Dinobot’s display stand. He also features light up eyes and sounds (Japanese). In the show he was much larger than Optimus Primal, and the scale shows here, as he towers over the Maximal leader. There are reports of fragile torso and crotches leading to some breakage, but I did not have any issues myself. The torso was SUPER tight out of the box though.
Bottom line, this is a superb piece, high quality head to toe, fun, and accurate to the source. If you are a Beast Wars fan, and have the funds, he is definitely worth a pick up. The figure looks f***ing incredible, my brother is actaully going to get him from Kapow Toys. Can\'t wait to hopefully see the figure in hand.
SPLIT LIP
But his hand was always out of it. It was never inside. Plus it could've just fallen off in Victory like any weapon or body part.
At least a fist doesn't look as weird as a flat open palm.
Zook
Although it wasn't rendered, I always figured there was some kind of shield handle inside. Either way, he never made fists or had his arm completely out while the tail was attached. As seen in Victory, he dropped it when he was attacked by Rhinox.
You could say it was plot convenience because he never drops it any other time he's attacked, but I still think he was holding it rather than it being magnetized or something.
SPLIT LIP
Actually in the show his arm was fully exposed, but his hand was flat open with the thumb pressed against it like a karate chop. It just attached to his arm, but the toy's thumb doesn't articulate that direction.

Great pictures, but am I the only one a little bothered with the pictures in general of him with a closed fist when the tail weapon is attached? In the show, his arm was inside the tail to hold it. If his arm was out with a closed fist, the tail would fall off.

Heil Megatron, Sieg Heil.

These photos look incredible. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!!!

Not a beast wars fan, but no denying this is a beauty. Not enough to make me spend the asking price, but maybe we'll see a quality KO in a few years. Glad beast wars fans are getting more MP love from Takara hope it keeps up.

The photos turned out great!
Though I'm curious is there is a good stand for him without needing MP Dinobot.

It's just a printed background here. I have multiple lights positioned all around the figure at different angles, with different color filters on the lights. Plus the standard big softboxes. Each shot uses a different amount in different positions so there is no magic set up, just gotta start pointing and take test shots till it works. At times, I point light directly at the backdrop too.
And to further complicate things, I use flash/strobes, not standard LED/CFL/Bulb based light. So, I can't see what any of this looks like with my naked eye. The flashes aren't on till I click the button, no modeling lights. Have to take test shots and review repeatedly. If you do it enough you kinda get the feel of what will do what where at what strength, etc.

Do you use an LCD screen for backdrops or an illuminated poster frame.
I love seeing the colors from the background reflected on the figures but that doesn’t seem possible with just a printed background.

I think it's technical debut was in Season 2 now that I think about it. That's one of those times where they should have let that slide.

He is so beautiful…. but I still can't believe they didn't include a rubber ducky. Though I guess that was more prominent in Season Two (TransMetal Megatron). I need to rewatch.

Photography trick. I try to do the standard, solid background color shots with no trickery, just as it is. The ones with backgrounds and colors I treat as "art" and manipulate them to be as cool as possible with my limited effects skills.

Impressive

Well I said tough, not impossible…Blackarachnia will definitely be the one to watch in that respect

Yeah, for the time being, I'm subscribing to @Jarrod's theory that the break is being caused by an assembly error. All the breaks evidenced thus far have all been in the exact same place, and all have occurred instantaneously. There've been no reports as of yet from a gradual wear-and-tear style break that points to an actual design flaw.
So certainly an issue to be aware of, but not a cause for paranoia as of yet.

How do you illuminate the beam in his mouth or is that just a photographic trick?

Fuck, this looks gorgeous! I'd love to pick it up, but sadly after doing my taxes, I need to cut out a lot of stuff until I even out
Also, yikes!
