Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety during the premiere of Laika’s latest movie; The Missing Link, director Travis Knight expressed his interest to direct another Transformers Live Action Movie.
“I viewed the film as a self-contained thing. Every film that I’ve ever done, I’ve viewed it as, “This is a statement about this. These are these characters. This is our point of view and on this story.” Once it’s done, it’s done. So, I tend to not think about sequels or where the story goes beyond that in terms of actually producing something. However, every single thing I’ve done, these characters, they reside in your mind and imagination. You live and breathe them for so long. You always imagine their lives and their stories outside of the confines of the pictures. What happened in their life before? What happens in their life after? You actually create these stories even though they never make it into the movie. So, in my mind, I have all kinds of ideas for where Charlie goes from here; where Bumblebee goes from here; where Optimus Prime goes from here. In my mind I’ve already made those movies on some level. Like you say, if the stars align, would I tell another story in this universe? I mean, I love these characters, so it’d be a thrill to be able to tell a different kind of story in this universe. Time will tell.”

I saw that, that adds at least two years to the time table right?

i guess the next transformers movie will be Optimus Prime Solo film.

So. apparently Travis Knight has signed on to direct Six Billion Dollar Man, starring Cade- Mark Wahlberg.

I guess he can put in a bit more live action movie practice before Bumblebee 2.

Wow. I thought I was alone in this kind of mind set. Sometimes I think, \"That\'s it. Story is done. Perhaps a happy ending for them.\" But sometimes, I think, \"There could be more. What happens if it\'s not a happy ending? I want to know more of this character.\"

Out of all the Bayverse films, Bee vs Cade is the most memorable. It also didn't last the entire film, with minimal baysplosions.
I liked that chase scene and the Bee vs Copcar in the Bee Movie.
Of course in the Bee Movie, I didn't have to listen to the Witwicky Screech. So, for me, that gives the Bee Movie chase scenes a bit of an edge.

I would be ok if there were literally not another car chase in a Transformers movie, ever. At the very least, no car chases where I don’t feel like they’re chasing for a reason vitally important to the plot and the characters.

The bumblebee one I liked more. All I remember from the first TF movie chase scene is Bonecrusher smashing a bus, and I don't remember any bits from TF3 chases.
Pcm979
You're putting the animated Transformers movie on one hell of a rose-tinted pedestal. It was forgotten by all but us within years, not decades.
Iacon2048
Compare the 2 chase sequence in Bumblebee to Bumblebee and Barricade chase sequence in TF1 and the highway chase sequence in TF3. Which one do you like ?
And they were more of a family bonding scene than a proper chase sequence.
Iacon2048
There was an instance where they could have included a chase sequence. It was when sector 7 caught Bumblebee. I have no problem with how Bumblebee was caught. But how did sector 7 get to know that bee was coming that way and they were all ready ? It felt like it was just forced. It would have been better if their was a chase sequence where Shatter and Dropkick force Bee to take that route where sector 7 is waiting for him.

Unless the police car chasing him was actually Barricade…

And those will be forgotten in decades. They’re nothing more than dense popcorn flicks, no better than the Bayverse we seek to remove ourselves from.
I know it sounds absurd, but having well crafted stories based off a children’s toyline is possible. You just have to get the best writer who can provide the energy and captivating spirit the franchise yearns for.
Hanzkaz
It was more of a family bonding thing.
SunSwipe5
Huh, I could have sworn there were quite a few chase scenes throughout the movie.
It just wasn't a movie long chase, peppered with overdramatic explosions.
Hanzkaz
I'd prefer a gradual increase in action, as long as it served the story. But yeah, definitely no shaky cam.
There wasn't? I didn't even notice.
You can put in a chase if it works, as long as it doesn't seem shoehorned in 'just because'.
Iacon2048
If Travis Knight returns, I want him to make a movie, with a bit more darker tone and a bit more Bay style action ( Not a 100% Bay style. Just cut out the shaky camera and choppy editing part ).
One thing that we all must have missed in Bumblebee was a thrilling Car Chase. There was basically no chase sequence between the Autobots and Decepticons.
BIOMEC
Quite true unfortunately.
Red Goblin
I don't think he has much of a choice. Laika's been doing horrible at the box office lately.
Pcm979
People still go to watch two Marvel films a year eleven years in.

It’s like the 1986 film. What made that film so great was that it was a climatic event and turning point in G1. That’s what films should be. When you keep churning them out like a TV show, they lose anything charming or interesting.
