Yeah. That’s exactly why. They don’t have the licenses to Benz or Bugatti
SPLIT LIP
I feel like I like the idea of Drift's design more than the actual design itself. The samurai motif is cool, but man are his legs just messy, and I never understood why the forearms are different.
Creative, but inaccurate.
In fact it may be to avoid licensing fees for Mercedes.

I think the main problem was the shaky cam, not the designs. The shaky cam in the first two movies made the intricate detail in the bots hard to follow. The third movie reduced the shaky cam to compliment the 3D showings and I was actually able to appreciate the designs more (with the exception of Q, the Albert Einstein bot. That design really annoyed the hell out of me.) I guess that’s why DOTM Prime was my favorite “Bay” design.

Maybe, but they look to be about the same width each as the ones in his knees, and also seem to have ribbing on both sides of the tire bits. They're also noticeably smaller in overall diameter than the ones in the knees. It's a really weird look to me. I mean, it's inconsequential, since he won't actually be transforming and all, but something seems really off about it.

So i recently marathon'd all 5 Bayformers movies with a friend. They're not good movies. None of them. 3 came really close and i have a childhood connection to 2, but all in they're NOT good films. I recognize that they did amazing things in rejuvenating the brand, but the writing and characters were, as a whole, terrible and not fun to watch.
That being said;
The character designs really came into their own. People always give the movies greif for looking like piles of smushed up metal that barely resemble robots, and you know what in the first and most of the second, yea i totally agree with that, a bunch of the characters were incredibly over designed. look at first movie Megatron, what is even going on there?
But like, dude look at this drift! The design is a little complicated but it hits some really good strong points! They figured out how to do nice looking human-robot faces, the color scheme is popping, and he's got that nice signature "the front of my car is my chest" Motif! Also, considering the main quirk of the bayformers designs is how complicated they can look because we're going for a realistic take on the characters, Drift is actually pretty darn clean. Look at other characters too! All of the constructicons have fairly clean and recognizable designs, id go as far to say Scrapper was flat out memorable in how he looked.
The designs are hectic, but i really believe they found themselves by the third movie. And they look pretty darn okay.

Fixed! Thanks

These are a really awesome way to view and appreciate the cgi models. I always notice something new, like how the wheels at the bottom of his feet split in two at the back of his leg
