Speaking to Gamespot, Transformers Live Action Movie Series producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has stated that the next main Transformers movie, which was announced not too long ago, will be a reboot.
Yes, we couldn’t believe what we are hearing either but, he actually used the ‘R-Word’ this time; after so many months of denying the existence of the term and its implications.
“The main Transformers movie we are working on is a reboot, and I will say that the Bumblebee sequel will be more directly linked to the timeline that we set up.”
So, what about the statement he made in Japan? We can only assume that the Japanese article is a classic situation of ‘lost in translation’. The question was asked in Japanese, it was translated to the producer in English, the producer answered in English, it was translated to Japanese for the journalists and we fans translated the article back to English.
Mr. Di Bonaventura also outlined several details regarding the future of the TF movies. He mentioned that we may see romance, in some form, between the robots.
“One of the things I want to see, and I don’t know if we’ll do this particular thing, but I think we will eventually do a love story between Transformers. What does a love story mean? Definitely not sex, maybe not even kissing, but the idea that they would have that emotional crush has never really been brought in. That’s kind of the direction we’re going to try to head into, which is to give them human desires that, up until now, we haven’t seen much of. I think that will change the relationship with the Transformers. So we may do some wild action, we’ll do action for sure in the main line, but it’s a different kind of attempt. I know we will hold on to a lot of the lessons from Bumblebee.”.
Additional details regarding the two movies in development, can be found after the jump.
So what is the release plan? Di Bonaventura doesn’t seem to know, and he prefers it that way.
“I think Paramount should just pick the best script and release that first,” the producer said. “I don’t think there is a plan in terms of what movie comes out first, and I always think you should just go with the best script first instead of planning a franchise based on release dates.”
He went on to say that the Bumblebee sequel will be bigger than the previous one, despite the spin-off having had the smallest budget in the franchise.
“It is going to bring Bumblebee into a bigger adventure,” Di Bonaventura said. “What was fun about the first one was that we didn’t have to be beholden to the other Transformers movies.”

Best news for the films since they announced they were making a Transformers film not directed by Michael Bay.

Shatter and Dropkick was definitely a fusion of complex designs of the Bayformers and the simplicity of the G1. And I think you failed to understand my post completely. I just wanted all the fans to see the new Transformers to be set in a separate universe and enjoy what little moments that they get as direct respect to the continuity of Transformers that they liked. I never supported G1 or Bayformers, just stated the pros and cons of the designs.

I also liked the final battle, especially when Charlie was running and the bots were fighting behind her.

TFX covered it, but with the Bayverse you got rewatchable moments. With Bumblebee we finally got a rewatchable film. It captures you in whole because the whole is better than the sum of its parts.

Eh, but to be fair to the Bumblebee movie, you can actually sit down and watch it because you tend to become engrossed in the story. How often, your post included, do you see people saying "I fast-forwarded to the good parts and skipped the human garbage parts. Except for Bumblebee pissing on people, that's weird."?
The only reason why Bayverse exists for a good number of people is just for those scenes, the only reason Bumblebee/Travisverse exists for everyone else is that it doesn't need to rely on just a handful of good scenes, it actually has a good movie attached to it. That's a world of difference.
Oh, and Bumblebee's final fight with Dropkick and Shatter? Shouldn't be ignored. He actually uses his vehicle mode to fight, and it's a heavily promoted scene, as well. It and the Cybertron opening are two rewatchable scenes. Plus Dropkick and Shatter coming to Earth and popping the redneck? New classics.
This, too. I just more or less equated it to the opening sequence, but yeah, it too works as a standalone scene.

I found Bumblebee VS Blitzwing rewatchable.

I always thought of the Bayverse movies as G2 lol.
The thing that bugs me about the Bumblebee movie is it didn't have those moments where you can play certain clips of it over and over again because it was cool – Bonecrusher vs Prime fight, Autobots arrival, etc. With Bumblebee, it was only the Cybertron scene that i watched over and over again. The rest of the movie was just not exciting and didn't have those cool moments from the Bayverse films.

No rush where the 'magic' is concerned (and sometimes less is more). But if the Matrix turns up, then I definitely want it to be more than some sort of hi-tech device. They don't need to make a big deal about it -just make it clear it's something 'special'.
Speaking of 'magic', I don't want there to be that Energon trick from the original version of Bumblebee that seems to turn every inanimate object into some sort of (usually hostile) robot. I can understand the Allspark/Matrix/Primus being able to do stuff like that. However, if it really was that easy for your regular Cybertronian, the 'Cons could simply visit every military base (and car dealer) on Earth and build themselves an unstoppable army.

I have the blender from the movie

I'd rather keep the magic the fuck away. Bee movie finally got us back to sensible plots, I'd rather not jump into the half-baked melodrama that crap like Unicron, Thirteen Primes and "teh allspark!11" bring anytime soon.
