And it’s time for another round up of Bumblebee Movie concept art, courtesy of several artists who have started to share some great material over the internet. This gives us interesting and revealing details of the creative process of this movie.
This week we can share for you (each link to the respective thread):
- Wrangler Bumblebee By Matt Tkocz – Two early concept designs of Bumblebee’s first Earth mode, close to what we saw on the film.
- Military Bumblebee By Matt Tkocz – Four early ideas of Jeep Bumblebee, showing elements of Bee’s design from previous movies.
- Cut Scene Illustration By Matt Tkocz – Three beautiful illustrations of this key scene, showing Dropkick in a design similar to his Studio Series toy (Helicopter mode).
- Cut Scene Illustration By Matt Tkocz – A scene that didn’t get into the final edit of the movie. Several helicopters checking the havoc on the place where the Decepticons landed on Earth.
- Decepticon Triple Changer By Shane Baxley – An original idea for a triple changer that didn’t make into the film with Mustang Boss 302 and A10 Warthog alt modes.
- Dropkick And Shatter Desert Scene By Shane Baxley – An illustration of the scene where the Decepticons meet the military showing Dropkick and Shatter with their muscle car modes before they became triple-changers.
- Decepticon Warrior By Shane Baxley – Another concept for a Decepticon that wasn’t used. According to the artist, they made a lot of Decepticon robots.
Thanks to all our members who shared the images in our forums. You can also check out our previous round ups Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4. Click on the bar to see all the images after the jump and then surf to the respective threads to sound off on the 2005 Boards!

the concept art is pretty damn good
sad none of it made it in
VortexPrime
WOH! the one with the thrusters on his chest would have made for a cool toy!

So who did actually do the final designs for the bots from the movie? Any idea if Josh Nizzi is still on board? These designs look like a bad interpretation of Nizzi's work.
Fallout
unfortunately, the check is for exactly 50 cents less than any given retail toy.
Onslaught24
lol you say that like we get paid
shiftshock
The A-10 Warthog bot looks cool, however I\'d like to see a redeco using blue[primary], red[highlights], and black[detailing], to represent a Rattler.

I guess my check from Hasbro is in the mail somewhere. Hopefully it shows up soon so I can buy more toys soon.

What? The Bumblebee movie is still relevant. These concept round-ups are done because it's easy for pieces of art to get buried in the concept art threads. Heck, I even missed a couple from this week. It's not to promote the movie. The news section is filled with mostly Masterpeice/Generations/comic/toy news whenever I visit. I don't think one or two movie-based threads are going to hurt anything.
Afterburner
Anything to keep this movie in the news section though, so you have to understand the point isn't to show the art really. This site acts as more of a Hasbro extension than something run by the fans.
Remember when Bumblebee was a Jeep? Said no fan ever.

With all due respect to the artists—this is coming from an artist here…the vast majority of the concept art we’ve seen thus far has been horrendous. Little creativity, bland designs on the ones that eventually became Dropkick and Shatter… besides what we ended up with, which is miles ahead of ANY concept art we’ve seen, I do believe (dare I say) that 90% of the Bayverse designs are better than ANY of this concept art.
The Crazed Butt Stabber
I dig that design of the Decepticon Warrior.

Amen!
Seriously these arts for now are cool but I really wanna see the Cybertron guys. Like what could their studio series toys look like.
ToaDraco
These are neat and all but I keep hoping to see some concept art for the Cybertron scenes so we can get a better look at those character models! I guess they\'re just saving the best for last…

I really like that blue/teal Decepticon that turns into a Mustang and a Warthog. There are just a lot of fun details in that design. The sword that comes out of the car grill, the shark face on the chest. I also like the orange one with jet intakes in the chest. These are really cool transformation schemes. I would really like to see these designs repurposed in future movies, maybe just as background soldiers if nothing else.
Music
Those Bee designs are much more heavier on the Bayformers aesthetic than what we got in the final result. They probably work better continuity-wise too, but the redesign in the film looks much better. It's not like I care about the continuity anyways as I much rather see them reboot with this film.
