I have the DOTM one; what needs to be modified? Also what do you think is a good SS Deluxe? (One that you have handled personally)

The dangling roof rack needs to be compressed inside and have the spare wheel sitting on his back, moving wrist joints, a thicker torso, Hummer brushgaurds that can split apart for his chest and the sirens on his shoulders. Stinger's by far the best I played with, the biggest downside was his pelvic and the car tailpipe just left there with nothing to cover but it didn't ruin the whole toy.

The SS line is supposed to be dedicated to making new toys surpass its predecessors so I don't appreciate them copying an old mold design when they should've done a new, innovated voyager of him like they did for Bonecrusher.

While not necessarily bad, SS has a lot more reused engineering than you think.

Here are good examples (not counting repaints) :

• SS-01 – retool of TLK Bee
• Ratchet – reused from DOTM Ratchet
• Crowbar – retool of TLK Berserker
• Starscream – upsized DOTM Starscream
• Lockdown – borrows heavily from Cogman
• Jazz – essentially a shrunken HA
• SS-18/Beetlebee – reuses much of SS01 and TLK’s engineering
• Barricade – also just a shrunken MPM

By that logic the only good SS figures would be Blackout, Megatron, Dropkick etc. Not a lot to pick from…

I don’t think reused engineering is a bad thing when it’s done correctly. Look at Jazz for example, a lot of people here love him despite the fact that in the end he’s just a simplified version of an 8 year old toy.

What matters is not how original the transformation is, but how good the final result is (playability, accuracy, durability, etc.). After all, these toys were made to be played with, not to be analysed for a 5 paragraph essay in engineering class.

Really? because from the looks of it; Sideswipe seems more like a "finished" product than he does. The fact that you gotta mod and customize the crap outta him when you first get him out of box is ridiculous, that shouldn't be ANYBODYS job except hastaks.
