Courtesy of Hobbybase on Facebook and 1999.co.jp we have our first images of the packaging of the Takara Tomy Encore Armada Unicron Micron Color Version.
This Encore edition is a green redeco of the Armada Unicron mold, based on an energy Unicron formed by the Mini-Cons who grappled with the real Unicron over Cybertron in the final episodes of Transformers Armada. We had also seen a Lucky Draw Green Unicron before but this new release sure gives us a more impressive deco.
The packaging is a very nice (and big) black box showcasing a great picture of the robot mode in the front together with the planet mode in the lower part. A very elegant presentation.

Old Armada Unicron really shines in this new green deco. And that boxart is good. But at $140 and having owned this mold twice now I am gonna have to pass.
Still wondering why this got an Encore release rather than being an LG-EX exclusive (like Blue Big Convoy).

It's a really nice color scheme actually. They didn't just slap some green paint on him and called it a day. There are like 4-5 different shades of green that all work really nice together.

I really need to try Amazon Japan if that's what it came out to. I thought it was gonna go even with Amiami and it ended up being no better than a US retailer despite the prices not differing as much on Amazon JP itself preshipping.

The Takara one didn't go on clearance and I'm sure that any prospected lower sales numbers have been compensated for with the increased price.

Actually, Primus was a gift from my brother. It was a TRU Exclusive he managed to grab for me after TRU started their going out of business sale.
I couldn't have one without the other, so I bought this Unicron. I actually really like the green coloring on him.

It was actually Armada Unicron that really got me collecting Transformers seriously. Then again it was way better (imo) than the G1 bricks I grew up with.

The question is, do Hastak think they can sell a Titan-class planet-former? I suppose they could could throw in a base mode as well.
If I was Hasbro, I'd create a 'Unicronian' faction of toys, figures with distinct Unicron-like details. Maybe even make some of them combiners, as well (actually, I wouldn't mind a Titan Unicron combiner made up of his various minions). Build up the hype, and then release their boss/planet/playset.
I suppose they could then follow that up with a Titan Primus.

I wish they'd at least recolored Unicron's old character art but nonetheless that is a gorgeous looking box. I'm glad I actually bit on this even if it clearances later. Still low key hoping they do a leader Nemesis Prime/Scourge at some point out of the old super base Convoy.
