#FeelTheBuzz taking over the Transformers Movie Discussion section? Of course you do! We’re happy to share more coverage from Sunday’s world premiere which later turned into a birthday party for its 22-year old star, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.
We first brought you news earlier this fall of the soundtrack including a Steinfeld song, “Back To Life,” which fulfills a goal for the Oscar nominee whose resume includes musical turns in the “Pitch Perfect” series.
“Having a song of my own in a film of my own, that’s been on the bucket list for quite some time,” said Steinfeld. “I wanted the song to ring true to the 1980s, while being able to fit into my body of work as an artist.” She admitted to creating a playlist of songs for every character that she embodies. “Music plays a big part in my life, and I use it in my acting process,” the actress/singer shared. “With this film, the soundtrack is so great that the playlist was fully built in for me.”
There is also more to learn about the script, penned by Christina Hodson and rewritten by someone with whom Steinfeld previously worked.
“[She] wrote an amazing script, which drew me into this world… Kelly Fremon Craig, who wrote and directed me in Edge of Seventeen, did the rewrite, and we had wonderful conversations about developing Charlie’s voice into what you see now.”
Read the entire article, which includes additional comments from Hodson, director Travis Knight, cast members Pamela Adlon, Oscar nominee Angela Bassett, John Cena & Justin Theroux, here and then join the discussion already in progress on the 2005 boards!

Don't discredit Christina like that, she created, pitched and wrote the story after all. But I do love Kelly as a writer and director.

Ah! Aha! Cool that Hailee pointed that out. I'm concerned that Christina Hodson is gonna get hired more and more, but for the wrong reasons. It all depends on how big Kelly's rewrites were, because she may have been the secret to this movie's success, not Christina.

"Theroux recalled the minimal number of takes they did in the booth. “I was just discussing this with Angela — compared to the voice work I’ve done in the past, this was really quick,” the actor said. “I got to do a really big voice for the villain, and when they add in the digitization, it makes it extra sinister.”"
Glad Justin had fun. Loved him in The Leftovers. Also loved Basset in Fallout. Also the article lists the Cons as Dropkick and Chatter. Yikes.
