And I believe you have no grasp on how much your words read like the confessions of a sad clown. (And you are taking this too personally, I was and still am serious about that.)
And you're acting like a buffoon.
Well I'm not, and you are acting more than a bit jealous, so yeah.
Transform and rise up! You are being deceived! I am not my alt mode!
There, how's that?
Biotoakid
I truly thinky you missed the part where I said he underpays his workers by 20-40k a year.
This "good guy" still uses cheap foreign labor on all fronts. Congratulating this man for being born into it it foolish.
Your strange anecdotes about poor people being corrupted by wealth helps your arument not one bit, your wall of text was nonsense and truly did not paint a better of picture of this born to privlege won by being born CEO.
So you saying him being born into but still being good could be true, but it just isn't. His workplace practices show he is no different than any other CEO. Him having a private personal life does nothing to support your argument.
Don't pretend and tell yourself you were engaging when you just said "Some of you guys are really taking this too personally."
You contribute nothing but meaningless snark and I believe you have no grasp on the realities of American buisness and life.
Both of you are acting like class traitors. Saying "jealousy" is fucking stupid and you should be ashamed. Jealous of him actively keeping his working class down? Jealous of someone being born into a higher class in Capitalist Feudalism?
Fuck right off and look at the world he purpetuates. Donating 3mil a year of tax write offs to the childrens fund is a tiny start. Pay your workers better. Don't enable wage slavery in other countries.
What Gizmo can work on is not being an outward class traitor, unless he's scum born into wealth as well.
Deadend, I hope you enjoy the bonus Gold gave you for white knighting a multi millionaire. I'm sure he's now helping your family with medical expenses right?
GizmoTron
I'm engaging, too, by saying your ranting "rich and privileged, doesn't deserve an award" is a sign that you are taking this way a bit hard like it's a personal slight against you. Or you're just jealous, one or the other.
By the way, the true spineless are the ones who bash some people they've never met using the safety of the anonymous internet just because those people are successful and won awards for it.
Deadend
Then you're missing the point why it's important for what he says in acceptance/gratitude.
Being born into money or with connections doesn't inherently mean bad or good, it's what you do with it. Who you thank, who you recognize in how it was handed to you, and what you do with it after the fact.
For example, the massive amount of charity endeavors Hasbro does.
Now if he was one of those alleged "Self-made" privileged kids that didn't give credit to where credit is due, and made it all about himself, sure, then I'd agree. But even he recognizes how much has fallen into his lap, and has never been disrespectful about it. In fact he's been quite supportive. Therein is the difference between a privileged spoiled alleged self-made POS, and someone that's genuinely trying to make the best of what they have around them that pushed them to success.
Don't mix up "privilege" with still being able to succeed. Many of privileged areas have filed for bankruptcy and had to resort to con work or otherwise, become pricks, or worse, and then there are people like Goldner and others that lead more like Spielberg's example, and try to use what they've been given to lift up as many as they can to help get them started too to see what they can do. Haven't you noticed there's been a lot of Hasbro initiatives to do that very thing? To give people the opportunities no matter what walk of life they are from? That to me shows much more character than circumstances of birth.
Circumstances of birth don't dictate what a person is or isn't. What they do with it does. As we've seen time and time again as people that "allegedly came from nothing" turn into pure ego monsters that do the crappiest things to others and blame everyone else for their mistakes(even abandon their own kids so long as the public doesn't notice! or worse!), and then there have been people that came from privilege have used it to help others and lift them up. Life isn't as black and white as "born into wealth or not". It varies greatly. And making connections is all about how you make connections. Whether you're from wealth or not. It's in how you treat others.
And another example, how often has Goldner ever been on the red carpet of any of the movies? The first I've heard of any of that at all was Bumblebee, and maybe TLK, but TLK is iffy. Before that, it was a rarity for any of the films or any property unless marketing absolutely needed him there because of how it looked. Even for Bumblebee he had to be talked into it that it was okay to celebrate, and okay to enjoy himself and relax. If that to you screams "someone hung up on their privilege" I don't know what to tell you. This is a guy that wanted to be so respectful of not stepping on toes, that he didn't feel right reveling in earned achievements. Someone that respects his company and team and the support he's gotten that much. That he's deliberately avoided that "high horse" you want to hoist him on.
To me, that screams "character" and a decent human being. Let him revel in some achievements for once and feel warmth from it, that he's appreciated for all he's helped achieve. Hell, it's about time many areas start to realize how valued they are and how the company wouldn't be what it is today if not for their help. A company like this is greater than any one person. A captain of a ship is nothing without the crew. A captain may rise and sink with the ship, but it's the crew that they inspire that keeps that ship afloat. Same as a clock. Every part is important to make it keep moving forward in time and working correctly.
Biotoakid
It's a discussion site, and I'm engaging in the conversation. All you've added is that you're too spineless to make any sort of stance or point about anything on topic.
samisham
Oh no what a disaster. We should certainly care emensly about this and not just read the title and get on with our day.
GizmoTron
Some of you guys are really taking this too personally.
Biotoakid
Congratulating him seems incredibly redundant.
This guys first job working at a healthcare firm in Long Island SCREAMS incredibly rich privledged kid in the 80s. He was "torn away" from a huge postion at JWP Worldwide by Bandai. What a load of shit. JWP is a mega company with 10k employees, you only get that offer if you're born with the connecitons, this is a miserable reality to face.
This guy doesn't deserve any more fucking awards he was born into victory and will always be seen that way. He's bonafide RICH AS HELL.
Honestly fuck praising these bourgeois , I'm glad to see not all of this thread is happy about praising some rich scumbag. You know Hasbro designers are paid under market value. Most people are barely paid over 60k in fields where they should be earning 100k.

Goldner joined Hasbro in 2000? How the hell am I only learning about this now?! Certainly explains a lot about how he got involved in all this and how he magically rose to become CEO out of seemingly nowhere, that's for sure.
That said? This entry is hilarious for how deep it had to dig to find anything worth praising.
Not mentioned: the how. Because really, all he's done is pretty much try to turn Hasbro into an IP holding company that also happens to make toys. And in that respect he's kind of sucked given how well it's all turned out now.
But where did all that money subsequently go?
The only two film series he's not afraid of having his name associated with, because the former actually is still technically successful even after the average was brought way down by TLK, and the latter because while it wasn't a smash hit, it's not terrible and in fact was the first AllSpark Pictures (notably not mentioned anywhere in this blurb) film to turn a profit.
It was not the first AllSpark Pcitures film made. Anybody remember the Jem film, the one that did so poorly they pulled it after two weeks in theatres and scuttled the entire planned merchandise lines associated with it? Guess whose name appears as a producer there as well?
By hardlining a film series where the most heroic robot is portrayed viciously dismembering his enemies and ripping their faces off – quality family fun!
What exactly did Goldner have to do with any of this beyond simply be the CEO in 2018? What does any of this have to do with toys beyond Hasbro ostensibly still being a toy company first, entertainment IP holder second?
ScientistMan
…I don't think Hasbro's the only one who's obsessed with Bumblebee.
RKillian
Yes. Because where do you see black and white pictures of people these days besides the obituaries page?
It's looking like a bubble to me too. I don't remember toys, all across the board, having to be so heavily discounted just to move them before the last four or so years.
GizmoTron
You mean the pegs that have been up for barely a week?
Deadend
Congrats to him, but also waiting on to see what his 'acceptance speech' or 'gratitude speech' is.
But definitely big congrats and major applause.

I pretty much don't want to be a Transformers fan anymore because of Bumblebee. Bumblebee has ruined it for me & there's no sign of anything changing. I don't know who's responsible for going overboard with Bumblebee but Brian & everybody else at Hasbro can kiss my ass!
I was at Target the other day & had Cog in my hands. I saw the $19.99 price tag & put it down. Normally I would go nuts when finding the latest Generations figures but I no longer care. The new prices are a financial burden. I'm trying to break this habit/addiction. So yeah, thanks a lot Brian & Bumblebee.
ar78
Well he increased profits at the cost of quality. Saw a huge run up in Hasbro stock, because the entire market got blown into the biggest stock bubble of all time. Let's not forget that during his tenure the price of a deluxe Transformer went form $9 to $20. He greenlit some of the worst toys in the history of Hasbro.
Being inducted to a Hall of Fame as a CEO is usually a kiss of death.
In some cases Siege is a high note, but in others it is a giant kick in the nuts. Goldner presided over the absolute death of Star Wars toys.
$5.99 for something that used to come packed with a $7.99 Scout class figure? I seem to remember transforming weapon bots coming with my Cosmos, Megatron, Starscream, and Optimus. Yes the Siege bots are a little bigger but $5.99 is insanity. $10 for the MicroMaster two packs is absurd. Judging by the untouched pegs of BattleMaster and MicroMasters at my local Target, I think most consumers agree.
