Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner spoke to Yahoo! Finance regarding their plans for 2019.
First of all, the company will be moving some of its production out of China and they are very excited for the 2018 Holiday Season despite the absence Toys ‘R’ Us, of one of their biggest retailers in the past.
Speaking of the Christmas Season, Hasbro is looking forward to their latest movie, Transformers: Bumblebee and its home release next year.
Additionally, Hasbro is planning to deliver new movies based on popular Hasbro properties thanks to their partnership with Paramount Pictures. These properties are listed as G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Rom, and M.A.S.K.
Despite the fact that 2018 being a ‘disruptive year’, the company is looking forward to a growth in 2019.

Considering there's not much to go back to, you could really get crazy there.

…the fast and the furious was a remake of point break with street racing instead of surfing; it grew into something different overthe course of three sequels…

Yeah. It's a real shame that movies like American Sniper and Lone Survivor were flops. If only there were a market!

Although Im not a race car fan, Fast & Furious is an example of the creativity I want to see. It was an original franchise not from the 80s. Even in 20 years, it would make no sense to reboot it. It would be as stupid as trying to reboot the Sopranos because the original is timeless. Like I said earlier, there seems to be no limit to the creativity sunk into video game franchises, but toy and movie franchises not so much. The concept of the "reboot" has induced over a decade of laziness and is slowly killing the industry. Things that worked in 1984 dont always work in 2018. Sometimes the do, but not always.

Creative content hasn't been new or creative in a far longer time then that. So waah! Get over it.
I'm not looking forward to the new Joe movie because I wasn't enthralled with the last 2 attempts. Yes to bringing back personalities.
The Fast and the Furious director is doing M.A.S.K which is a-ok with me. That's a movie I'm interested in.
I'm not familiar with Rom so, I'm not particularly excited either.
C.O.P.S Hasbro? I like that show.
Inhumanoids maybe? I wanna see what its all about.

You don't have to introduce me to anything, certainly not in such a passive-aggressive way.
But I suppose I'm just being harsh again.
Botbots and Rescue Bots are fairly creative products in our own franchise which I have often praised.
I can't really comment on Rescue Bots, because I still haven't seen much of it, but I doubt I'll be surprised to be honest.
I don't see any other products produced by the entertainment industry deviating significantly from regurgitating the same stuff they have been regurgitating for the past several centuries after all.
Meanwhile I am not a professional in the entertainment industry who pride themselves on being creative while in fact refusing to do anything truly innovative at all and being hindered from doing so by executives who don't want to produce anything innovative.
And my idea is not really that similar to IDW's phase two, come to think of it.
I was thinking more along the lines of The Postman.
But hey, if you feel compelled to defend your god.. .

…let me introduce you to botbots, or heck, rewind the clock just a few years, and rescue bots not only introduced a brand-new aspect to the franchise, but blossomed into one of the best-produced and longest-running transformers series of all time…
…sounds a lot like IDW phase two, actually…
…yes, there's a big market for repackaged nostagia in this franchise, but there's also some laudably original material on offer in recent years, some of which has set an impressively high bar for creative integrity…

How about if the new GI Joe story took place in the future?
Post WW3 the world is ruled by a multitude of small-time warlords.
This is all about to change as a new group is consolidating it's power and aiming to spread their power over the entire former USA.
At the same time, a ragtag group of specialists are trying to build and support small communities all over the place.
When several of these communities are being threatened by the tyranny of COBRA the group of specialists decide they have to aim higher in order to protect the people they love and under the name of GI Joe they organize themselves and confront Cobra in their endeavor to reinstate a new lawful government.

They're not even interested in creating original characters, relationships or arcs.
Everything is a carbon copy of a carbon copy of a carbon copy. They just mix up the environment and the backstory a bit.
Companies are convinced people just want the same shit over and over and over again.
And artists are only interested in homaging what they think was a cool story or movie.
Thus nothing new is ever created.
GizmoTron
It's still a militaristic themed game that boils down to good guy shooting bad guys.
Besides, depiction of the military on television including during every football commercial break ever shows a lot of favoritism towards the men and women who serve, so saying the military is unpopular is unfounded and just a poor excuse on Hasbro's part for them being unable to figure out a good G.I. Joe story and put out some toys.

yeah, i don't think you can really do the until you get into the 7-figures or more realm.

While I understand your argument, I cant agree with all of it. You asked why I didnt mention star wars (jar jar) Well thats because star wars has never been rebooted. They are adding parts to the story….prequels, sequels, gap fillers, and I like that. Just keep the story going. But thats not even my point. At one time all these 80s franchises were brand new. I think its about time for some new franchises. And yes they do it in video games. Sure its the same old story format, but new characters. I dont know why Hasbro is so scared to invest in something truly new. They are so scared to leave their comfort zone. Bot bots is the perfect example. They had to put them under the Transformers umbrella. They had to give them a Transformers themed fiction that somehow involved contact with energon or something similar to the kitchen bots in Bayverse. Would it have been that hard to market them on their own without trying to persuade Transformers fans to buy in ? Its sad they limit their creative potential.

When you make 6-figures, you can afford a ton of hair implants, plastic surgery, etc.! Certainly, his hair is several decades younger than he is!
I'm surprised you can say all of that without complaining about Jar Jar Binks!
Cause to quote George Lucas: it's not for you!
They remake these stories because, believe it or not, new children are born every day! And these new kids don't find the "old" stories boring, in the way you did not find the story of Santa Claus to be boring when you were a child. Same boring, old story, recycled into new movies every year… why? Because Santa Claus is a commercially successful story, and you don't need to re-invent the wheel every year to make money! You re-brand, re-paint, re-market that old wheel!
Look, there's a reason you don't enjoy these things anymore. It's a pretty common condition that people develop as they get older. Let's just let South Park do the diagnoses:
Also, video games are NOT original. They keep rehashing the same stories, making sequel after sequel after sequel. What's new about Red Dead Revolver 2? Oh, it's online (MMO)! That's a "new story" then?
