Via Itunes we have the first 3-page preview of the upcoming IDW Star Trek VS Transformers #01.
This is the latest (and unexpected) crossover in the IDW Transformers titles. A 4-issue mini-series where the animated version of Star Trek (with characters like Lieutenant M’Ress and Lieutenant Arex) will meet the Transformers (with an style based on the G1 show).
On this preview, titled “Prime’s Directive”, the Enterprise crew responds to a distress call from planet Cygnus Seven, and once they land they are shocked to see Starscream, Thrust, Acid Storm and… Airachnid?
Don’t forget to grab your copy this September 30! You can check out the mirrored preview after the jump and then sound off your impressions on the 2005 Boards.

He’s just done a whole Star Trektember month of reviews.

That sounds like a writing catastrophe and I love it!
GPTF01
so far this is every thing i expected from a TAS/G1 team up
the slightly barely expressive faces sells it and hits that nostalgia
i almost hope it has a horrible stupid goofy plot and writing just so it would be perfect . complete with unexplained plot holes and ignored elements that are never explained and you just deal with whats going on and turn off your brain that would be perfect TAS

Given the 1984 cast, sadly not likely that we see Spock and Galvatron meet… that'd be better. I mean G1 cartoon Shockwave was not logical or smart at all. He was a more boring version of Soundwave, a suck-up yes-man to Megatron, but without the cool voice. Let's face it, we would not have Shockwave be like he is in comics today if it wasn't for Marvel G1 Shockwave, who was just all sorts of awesome.
Digger
I did see a digibash of the PotP one as Skeletor.

I still dunno how they will explain the Decepticons and Autobots all having Earth alt modes from the 1980s, when this takes place in the future, and apparently they have never been on the Earth of this era, or Kirk would know from history. "That was… from a time when… giant transforming robots… waged their civil war on Earth, Spock. It's… basic history."
I see they are being anime-like with M'Ress in that she has to go "Prrrrr" in every bloody sentence, like those anime characters who end every sentence with their name or such sillyness. She sometimes purred in the cartoon, but it wasn't in every sentence.
I hope Arex shows up too. Since it was a cartoon the show could get more wild with alien designs than the low budget TV show, but while they added more alien crew members, they did not use them much. Arex and M'Ress did not do much in the show but hang around the bridge, they were barely used for away missions.
I have not watched his reviews in ages. I dunno but I kinda got annoyed by his "faked outrage" style eventually. But he hasn't done many Trek comics – y'd think he would have reviewed the IDW Trek comics by now. He mostly does what people pay him to do these days.

Maybe. But knowing cartoon Megatron he would try to suck Grayskull's energies to power up some weapon.

Good or bad, I hope Linkara reviews this on Atop The Fourth Wall.
Omegax80
They can muse as to why they both are stuck with skulls for heads.
Or…. Skeletor becomes the Pretender shell for Bludgeon's robot.
Megastar
Wouldn't a more spiritual Decepticon, like Bludgeon work better?
CleverNamePendingatron
This looks increadibly stupid. I think I’m really going to enjoy it.
Digger
Exactly how I thought! And he teams up with skelator!
bigfootRULES
i know Megatron would want the secrets of Castle Grayskull.
Digger
Actually yeah that could be hard. But I was more saying that he man would put up a good fight.
bigfootRULES
why do you think it would be challenging? is because He-Man is from Mattel?
Digger
That would be interesting. I feel they’d certainly be a challenge. You what I want? A my little pony crossover!
Megastar
With the Mystery Machine being a Transformer the entire time.
Omegashark18
I’d take Transformers crossing over with anything!
Digger
Aww thanks!
bigfootRULES
i want a Masters of the Universe/Transformers crossover in this style.
