Back in July 2018 we first saw this figure revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, now thanks to our board member SG hailstorm, we have some in-hand images of the upcoming Studio Series figure SS-17 Shadow Raider from Age of the Extinction.
Shadow Raider is a remolded and repainted version of SS-11 Lockdown, which was released in Studio Series wave 2. In this gallery, we see the comparison between the two figure, highlighting the new head sculpt, new bright orange paint job, and new weapon accessory. We also get a look of the two figure side by side in their Lamborghini Aventador alt mode from multiple angles.
Shadow Raider will be released as part of Wave 3 along with SS-16 Autobot Ratchet from Dark of the Moon and SS-18 VW Bumblebee. Is this upcoming Studio Series release for you? Check out that images after break, and let us know on the boards!

Has anyone taken any photos of Studio Series Lockdown standing next to Age of Extinction Deluxe Lockdown? I've been trying to find side-by-side comparison pics and so far zero luck.

Eeeeh, maybe. But those designs still aren't nearly as "smooth" as AOE designs. Personally, I think he just meant exactly what he said, that Sentinel Prime transforms exactly like Galvatron and the other KSI Drones…which is incorrect.

Actually, it occurs to me now that Shadow Raider (minus the orange) actually seems more accurate to movie Lockdown's colors than the actual figure.
Trippy.

I think I can explain what he means:
DOTM may have “traditional” designs like Roadbuster and Soundwave, but when you look a bit more deeply you’ll notice many robots that share AOE’s no-kibble aesthetic.
In particular, look at the Dreads and Sentinel Prime. Try to identify as many pieces of recognisable kibble on them and you’ll get my point.
Shin Densetsu
Shadow Raider is growing on me. I prefer the battle mask and wanted to buy this to swap heads with Lockdown but might just buy this as hunt and pursuit Lockdown. It looks good as is and Lockdown's unmasked headsculpt is just sculpted and painted so damn good.
RodimusSupreme
Great show.
Also…confirmed that Shadow Raider is actually a ninja?!

Didn't you know? That's totally chic for covert ops these days:

I though the same thing!
MrNiceGuy
"shadow raider" has bright orange on him for some reason.

Wow……. After looking through my archives I just realized that I already have a Movie-verse Dropkick to!
He's a cool pickup truck that me and my son's would have PE Rumble and Frenzy hop in the back of to do drive by's or as their gettaway car.
Cool memories.
RodimusSupreme
Huh. Hadn't seen that one. Need to check that one out.
I have no idea what you're talking about. Sentinel Prime never morphed. The morphing started in AOE.
Oh, so spamming the "thumbs down" emoji and crying for more Siege in a thread about movie toys isn't silly, and everyone else is being silly? Got it.
DarkRed401
I had the same idea
YoungPrime
Oh, I've got him to which is the reason I don't need that AOE version, thus making the people half reading my post and crying "troll" and "hater" sound even sillier.

The sculpting and design of both heads makes me wish it gave Generations line the inspiration of making a Deluxe version of "Animated" Oil Slick.
Mattymo
I honestly can relate. Im CHUG collector but I like the movie lines and have all the Decepticons from the past few years and they’re just in boxes when I’m not messing with them and I feel bad.
I did pick up lockdown because of this news and he’s wonderful!!
ObakaChanTachi
One does not simply forget ROTF Lockdown. He was one heckuva figure and a remarkable work of engineering Hasbro sadly can’t replicate today anymore.

I've got to say that the new Lockdown mold is actually quite nice, and this is coming from someone that finds very little value in the SS line.
That said, the only reason I could ever see myself buying this repaint is for the head. No way I'd drop another $20 on the mold, though.

Odd that the henchmen has the kickass display head that SS Lockdown should have; nice move Hasblo

To be fair most of the Movie line figures in the past that were never in the movies tended to be the best ones IMO…
Mindwipe, Banzaitron, Bludgeon, SpaceCase, Longarm, Brawn (a decent placeholder until the G1 version finally released now he's re-purposed as the Wrecker Ironfist) and countless legend class Movie figures. If the one in question now had that same quality, I'd be on board.

I'm sympathetic (to Rodimus Supreme, Mattymo, ObakaChanTachi), but it needs to be a character with a bit more legitimacy for me. My shelves are getting crowded.
