The official Transformers Instagram and Facebook accounts have uploaded a new video Leaked From Cybertron Video featuring Hasbro’s design manager Jhon Warden presenting the Power Of The Primes Leader Class Evolution Rodimus Prime. The video brings us some very interesting concepts and early ideas that were proposed for this figure.
First, we have a curious “enhanced vehicle mode” where Deluxe figures would integrate and combine over Rodimus alt mode. We can spot Dreadwind and Blackwing on the sides, and Deluxe Jazz on top. On the top rear part we can see a non-produced figure that seems to be in Starscream colors, but with some parts and design similar to Star Saber.
On the second concept art, we can see three of the Deluxe Dinobots attached to the sides and top of the trailer, but we also have a jet connected to the front of the truck. This jet seems to be the concept of Titans Return Prima we saw sometime ago (retool of the Black Shadow/Overlord mold).
To top it all, we have a look at a cool Armored Mode Rodimus Prime, which would have added extra parts to the robot mode.
Some very nice ideas, but designers chose to use the Hot Rod into Rodimus Prime gimmick in the final toy, activated by the Prime Masters (sold separately).
Today’s video follows previous detailed views of Studio Series Blackout and Grimlock & Power of the Primes Dinobots Slash, Sludge, Slug (G1 Slag), Snarl, Swoop, Grimlock, Predaking and Studio Series Jazz, Brawl, and Grimlock.

The Terrorcon robot modes are pretty alright. These are my first POTP figures but their build quality isn’t as nice as my TR figures. Maybe it’s because their limbs aren’t as girthy. I did a quick comparison and the thighs are about 2mm skinnier so it’s not much, but visually it’s really noticeable and I think just that small amount would’ve done wonders.
The TDW upgrade kit unfortunately doesn’t add any good play value to the bot modes besides Hun-Gurrr where the hip and thigh combiner armor bits really bulk him up in his shoulder and forearms respectively. The hands can pass as guns but nothing special. The rest of the accessories feel half assed as weapons. The chest piece become handheld shields but the placement of the ports don’t make sense. The feet are supposed to become shields too but they’re worse! And two-thirds of the combiner rifle are barely weapons. I’d rather use the stock weapons for the limb bots. As for the Perfect Effect kit, it’s fine. They don’t try to be bot mode weapons so they get a pass.
My favorite is definitely Hun-Gurrr. Like I said, the upgrades really improve him more than any of the other bots. Much more menacing. I think Sinnertwin may be the worst. His colors are great but his bot mode looks generic compared to the rest because his only interesting monster detail (his dual heads) just get tucked away in the back.
Anyway, combiner mode is next!

Sorry to whoever I sniped in the closing seconds of this auction, but a complete set of Terrorcons and both 3P upgrade kits for $130 is an absolute steal. I didn’t even know it included the Perfect Effect set because everything was in baggies in the pics!
Anyway, I’m going to take my time with this set and appreciate each mode instead of rushing to combine everything. I’ve been really intrigued with Decepticon primitives lately and this group is a blast to play with. A lot of variety and personality as a group. Blot is my favorite beast of the the bunch and I don’t even know what he’s supposed to be! Cutthroat is my least favorite. The proportions are a bit off – the wings look too small for how long the torso is.
The one thing that’s bugged me so far is that Blot, Cutthroat, and Sinnertwin only have one gun each! I hate the asymmetrical look and I’m not sure why Hasbro couldn’t just make it a pair like they did with Rippersnapper. So I’m looking for their guns if anyone has a spare!

Picked this one up from seibertron on ebay. I am a 100% Optimus Prime fan but I do like Rodimus Prime as well. I didn't have an opened Rodimus so picked this one up. Had to watch a YouTube video to get it transformed but I like it. Got an Optimus on the way since he seems a bit favored over the Rodimus figure
