Thanks again to Dengeki Hobby Web, we have new official images of Takara Tomy Studio Series SS-16 Bumblebee, SS-17 KSI Sentry & SS-18 Starscream.
While there’s no discernible differences compared to their Hasbro counterparts, the number lineup is sure different. Bumblebee (from the new Bumblebee movie) is SS-16 instead of SS-18, KSI Sentry is SS-17 instead of SS-23 and Starscream (Revenge Of The Fallen deco) is SS-18 while he is SS-21 in the Hasbro Studio Series numeration.
You can check out the images after the jump and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

Amazon JP currently has SS 16 Bee for $35 USD shipped, shipping internationally. (Yesterday when I checked, there was no international shipping option, so just posting this as an FYI in case anyone was waiting for it.)

Do they slide over?

BB's knees not aligning with the thighs are mildly infuriating.
Chaos Prime
Okay, sure they looks neat and all, but I've noticed that a lot of the SS deluxes are shelf warmers; is there really a demand for the KSI drones?

I wouldn't have been the one to suggest a Constructbots inspired repaint of Lockdown to release the gun head accessory with.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Perhaps it is a little deliberate with Ironhide. I mean we are seeing pics of SS and the MPM at the same time and that bumper is the biggest point of difference between spending an extra $150aud.
We won’t know until people have them both in hand but I really think i could enjoy SS Ironhide version more.
The SS and MPM lines are in a strange place where both lines are offering the same universe with accuracy and scale to fit their price points.
MPMs are great but it is a slow and costly line whereas SS is cheap and fast flowing. Currently i have far more SS so that is probably the line i am choosing.

Shadow Raider, Thundercracker, Bumblebee redecos… looks like I'll be saving some money via "movie accurate" Studio Series after all.
Was hoping, given the suggestion, that Takara's line up would include all numbers sans additional Hasbro figures that are not even movie characters (e.g. Thundercracker taking up #19), but apparently not.

I want Studio Series Ironhide

Forgive me if you're being ironic, but parts budget is very clearly the exact reason for all of those issues.

Maybe. But it wasnt the most exciting character. Actually the one that caught my attention was the 2 headed shockwave car. Thats the one I would love to have a toy made. I have no idea what car it turned into.

Sounds awesome! I have pro order Studio Series Ironhide on EBay last week, & I wanna get Ratchet (DOTM).

Rachet and Ironhide are now on my wanted list

You'd have to assume that the designers ran out of parts budget for the bumper – there's no reason for it not to at least have the ends fold back around the hips otherwise.

They're entirely new molds that are completely different and better from most or all of their previous versions. How is that a few touch ups with new box art and a premium price (which is only 5 dollars higher)?
Applejacktimus
I'm pretty sure they're just doing it to save money by not making a whole new figure. Nothing stopped them from making toys for Skids, Mudflap, Jolt, the Dreads, etc. and Traxx would definitely catch some eyes if it at least had its primary Kandy metallic crimson paintjob…

Has anyone done a side by side with the SS figures with their older counter parts? I am interested in seeing what the differences are. From what I have seen, they are just a few touchups and new box art with that premium price.
