It's called the Twincast
And I agree, I wish Paramount would release even half of it!

After listening to the SDCC episode of the twincast podcast, and hearing their description of the footage shown, I am HYPED for this movie!!!!! Grounded action shots, real character and story, a coherent plot, so excited!!!!!

Marvel however is different because for almost every continuity unless it's intended to be ridiculous and different, its characters have stayed the same. Wolverine has always been known for his healing factor and adamantium claws but as for Transformers? Well now it seems to be starting that but for the grand majority of the franchise back then? Names were just slapped on whatever they felt like. Ironhide in Energon did not act like the Ironhide from G1 at all. The Ultra Magnus in RiD was kind of a dick and not really like the Ultra Magnus from the original show, Dead-End is used for whatever the hell Hasbro feels like and really, it should be clear by this point that Transformers doesn't really have that kind of consistency. It has shown that if it absolutely wants to, it can and will change characters with only a few exceptions.

Travis Knight said there'd be an explanation and there was a deleted plot summary which outed the jet as Starscream that was taken down. For all we know, it's misdirection but even so, here's the thing. Fans have a right to be disappointed and frustrated but to be so vehemently angry that you insult the director and the people making the film despite the fact this franchise has featured SO MANY cases of iconic names being slapped onto robots that don't resemble the iconic characters that possessed those names first? That's not being rational, that's being petty.
AspiringCreator
This isn't something to be personally insulted over, it's just a movie after all and really, Transformers character names have been applied to robots that have bore NO resemblance to their iconic namesake before.
I mean seriously, it's just a name and it's a name that has been given to a robot that in a taken down plot summary was called Starscream before. This easily could be a misinformation tactic intended to drum up buzz and then the film reveals it really is Starscream. Seriously, is this really something to scream a "Fuck you" at? Travis Knight didn't go into your house and burn your G1 stuff, he simply said this character was named something different. If you don't like it? That's perfectly fine but to get so angry is just unnecessary.

That’s kind of what I’ve been hoping for, but remember that the face swapping was not a generation 1 feature so it is not always a part of Blitzwing’s character.

Against my better judgement (after all the disappointment with recent films), I am going to keep an open mind. I enjoyed the trailer and really like the new Bumblebee design (it's a Beetle, after all, and my favourite Bumblebee was the one that appeared in the first couple of Marvel comics, where he had his battle mask – if I squint I can see a resemblance
). The "Starscream" appearance in the trailer was the bit that really made me grin, though, because at last it looked like a brilliant live-action updating of G1 Starscream.
Since then, the appearance of Shatter and Dropkick has given me pause, as to me they just look like generic Bayverse 'bots, but with such good voice actors I'm ready to be proved wrong. And then this Starscream=Blitzwing thing… If it really is just a "name slap", and if the character really does look as much like G1 Starscream as the trailer suggests, then I give up – that's just utterly stupid (when they could have made it blue and called it Thundercracker). However… Travis Knight has said that all will be explained in the film and he's also said that Cybertron features. So I am giving the film the benefit of the doubt and holding on to the possibility that if this really *is* Blitzwing, then maybe there are a whole bunch of generic Seekers on Cybertron, and he starts off looking like Starscream but later scans other vehicles and ends up looking different.
(Bah, who am I kidding. That would involve logic and respect for fans of the franchise. At least I can hope for a decent MPM of that Bumblebee design [please fix the door wings on that]…)

If he's not a triple changer in the movie then to me he's just not a triple changer … Yet.
Of course if he dies then he never gets the chance but my logic will remain that he might have taken the triple change transformation cog from one of his fallen comrades.
I could also see it in a post credit cliffhanger scene where we think he is dead along with the other two but then he arises, the army is present, he tries to transform but can't, he sees one of the triple changers lying dead and takes his/her transformation cog, installs it, scans a tank transforms into tank, takes a shot to cover his escape, laughs and says "come on down, autobrat" before transforming back into Jet mode and flying away.
Sets us up for a sequel, explains Blitzwing not being a tank "in this movie" since technically the credits are post movie. Throws in a G1 line for the fans and we're done.

Its your opinion and you are very welcome to it!
The bilions they get movie after movie shows many people disagree though!

As far as I know, the face swapping thing is exclusive to Animated, other than Blitzwing’s generations toy which drew inspiration from it.
“I’m sick and tired of Marvel pandering to those 616 fans. Those spoiled brats need to learn to accept change. I, for one, think that this is a welcome change to X-Men.”
RodimusZero
As much as I fucking love that pic and this meme… and I'm late to the party, but…
NO, just NO. I fucking hate Paramount/the whole live-action TF production machine already, but this is just pouring acid not just salt into our deep, deep wounds. Like, at this point, this is just straight-up trolling. To blatantly make an F-4 Transformer that is nearly identical to Starscream design-wise, and then just nameslap a Blitzwing on it? FUCK YOU, Travis Knight. If you have some kind of branding/Hasbro-based BS reasons for changing it, then in the next 6 months at least edit your film so he's tan and purple. PLEASE. So insulting… And I'll be even more insulted if the toys all come out as "Starscream" similar to the Brawl/Devastator subtitle fiasco in TF2007.
JennAvenger
Nobody has problem with blitzwing in the movie BUT a starscream-ish likeness with blitzwing name.. now that is a huge problem!! Imagine calling Ultra Magnus Optimus prime… heck, he has the inner white robot that looks like optimus sure why not call him optimus prime also?
