Speaking to Den Of Geek, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed that a new Transformers live action movie is currently being planned.
At the moment, they have no exact idea on what sort of a story it should be. Paramount is also looking for a new writer.
“What’s interesting is we are talking about a movie that made $650 million, the last one. It’s not exactly dead. I think what we’re doing is we’re having a script written soon. We put it aside a little bit because we were all focused on Bumblebee, and that takes a lot of time and creative attention.
Now that we’ve come up for air, we’ve been meeting with writers and sort of formulating where we’re going to go with that franchise. We’re meeting with some of the most successful writers in our business, so they’re certainly not shying away from spending a lot of money on a script. Doesn’t mean we’re going to make a movie, but when you deal with studios, you get a sense of the current. My sense of the current is they absolutely want to make another one. They just don’t know how much they want to spend on it. That’s my sense of it.”
Addressing the rumors of a reboot, di Bonaventura mentioned:
“It’s possible. I avoid the word “reboot” because I don’t think it’s really accurate, but I will give you a sense of how wide-ranging our thought process is. We have talked about a World War II movie. We have talked about a time travel movie because they can go through wormholes, so you can go to different timeframes from that. We have talked about a lot of different kind of genre concepts to put on it. We have talked about going later in the timeline. What would that look like?
All those things are swirling around at the same time, and we really haven’t settled on a writer, but I just got off the phone this morning, talking about this very thing and coming up with a take. It’s exciting to think that we could do something different.”
We may find out more during SDCC 2018. Don’t forget to tune into TFW2005’s exciting coverage.

i really wish they didnt gut dotm because that film had so much potential. it's really fun to watch but it leaves a sour taste in my mouth knowing how much better it coulda & shoulda been if not for stupid backstage politics.

It’s not Starscream… it’s Windblade.
Still want to see it?
Just kidding.

I agree about Michael Bay. 13 Hours was fantastic. Who didn’t enjoy Bad Boys 2? And, despite the ball busting I get from friends, I even liked The Rock (The movie, not the wrestler… even though the wrestler was great in his heel days, but I digress).
His work on Transformers, though… not to crazy about it. 2 & 3 were funny due to how batshit crazy they were, but 1 was boring IMO and 4 & 5 were utter trash. Hope he makes more films, just not Transformers.

I think by people you meant yourself.

I can't stand Lorenzo-making 650 mill on a movie that cost anywhere from 350-400 mill (including the marketing budget) isn't much in the terms of box office success. He doesn't seem to want to admit the weaknesses of what came before-then again, Lorenzo's gonna be Lorenzo. Interesting how they always seem (at least for 99% of the time) to use him as a source instead of Travis Knight. . .

Most people have no clue what these are. That's literally impossible right now.

Indeed.

Intead of a reboot, let's just have an "origin" series going forward. All the potential characters people wanted to see like Wreckage, Stockade, Bludgeon and Longarm can finally have a chance to shine. It can be much like "The Clone Wars" but with different premises on each movies.

I didnt say that there has been one. I'm saying that this film isn't a reboot for the above reason.

There hasn't been a reboot yet.

Q
I'm betting on an alternate timeline. Why reboot a film and have the first trailer have a quote from the first film?

i hear you, despite being an unabashed fan of his (believe me, my friends love to rip me for it) i can't say i was overly impressed with his work on the transformers films..dont get me wrong, he did a lot of stuff that i liked but i think he peaked with 1 & then kinda underwhelmed me with films 2-5. a shame because the foundation was so strong
my rankings would be 10, 4, 5, 7, 2
28/5 = 5.6 avg film for his work on the films which seems right to me.
respect his work ethic but rotf was a misstep & they finally kind of rectified the films at the end of aoe but tlk kinda just said "eh, who cares anyway?" & killed it sadly.

Yeah. Despite not liking what Bay did with a lot of things in Transformers, I like his kaboom style. Love me some Armageddon and Bad Boys/Bad Boys II.
This sounds like his superhero movie lol.

No one is gonna make you do something by force, you're a sentient being, right? You can choose to do that and no..personally I'm not gonna spread hate even more,at this point I expect it from people so I don't care now and no one should either. If the respect is not found then the conversation should be left alone because starting a conflict won't prove you're right.(As long as the opinion is respectul it should be fine)

Hahahah, wow, meritocratic.

I would like the new bee flick to be a full on reboot. Keep it in the 80s. Have bee find the ark in the second movie and wake up the rest of the autobots with maybe Soundwave as the main villain. I could see him being a cool old blue van with gold trim and dj equipment that “ejects” from the back for ravage and laserbeak Then wrap up with a 3rd film with Megatron and shockwave as the main villains.
I also read that there is a M.A.S.K agent in the new bee film. So maybe they have a better idea of the future of the series than they are letting on.
Edit
Something like this for Soundwave but blue and gold.
