3rd party group Fansproject has updated their Facebook page with a new reveal. Yesterday, the group teased a repaint of the mold for Steelcore, their original character, in construction orange colors. Tonight, the group announced WB009 Severo Core. Severo Core is a Grimlock inspired repaint of their Steelcore character. The figure appears to come with a new accessory for the mold in the form of a sword. Additionally the Construction colored figure is shown in full as well as WB011 Construction Core, but is still a work in progress. No other details are provided as far as availability, price, release or if either figure will come with the additional trailer component that was released sometime after Steelcore came out.
You can check out the collage of images and join in on the discussion in the 3rd Party forum.

Did I really just see a “parents basement” joke in a discussion thread about repaint of an original 3p figure done up as a War Within Grimlock tribute?

…… Little late to the party there bud, but good job on the useless necro bump.

I think Spence has a little bigger pov here though..Not about more product = more money. Gotta brush up on your Shark Tank 😉 ..just because a mold is paid for, that is only one mold. That has to be retooled every time fans complain they don't want just another repaint. Then paint.. has to be painted right? Tampo? For a 3p company, even just a repaint usually requires payment out of pocket. We know a lot of 3p companies are as small as a few dudes. Can you afford 20k tomorrow on a gamble? If you output say 5k copies of a repainted steelcore and it doesn't sell. You are sitting on a lot of burned cash. Not to mention you'd be crapping 4 leaf clovers to get a manufacturer to run as little as 5k copies out of a plant. As well, almost guaranteed you need connections in China. Somewhere over seas at least, yeah? No chance you can afford it in NA. I mean.. I want more too but. .I just think Spence has a point. And that's how more $ = less profit. Like Spence said. It's complicated.
Sometimes you throw more money at a problem and you just throw out more money..
Look on the bright side.. if these are all super exclusive, maybe FP is just using up stock and giving you something to look at while they are making more new stuff like everyone wants..kastor/Roller looks pretty cool so, maybe right?
Good stuff.

hope they release a trailer for this

Ordered this from ActionRobo. Stating shipped within 2 days of ordering. Only $80 on their site so we’ll see how this goes. He completes my Warbot series to this point.

Its pretty damn close to war within grimlock, but yea as an actual dino grimlock it's not good at all for that.

I don't think so. As it stands I'd actually say maybe Toyworld's would be best? Severo (LER) is too, well, LER, and this guy is just not really Dino at all? Take away the colours and head sculpt (which even then has a silver face mask) and there's nothing Grimlock about it. Might just need to wait for MMC.
Adam21
is Servo Core the best option for an IDW LL Grimlock?
Phoenix Blaze
Thanks. It's not often I get a good shot but when I do I'm rather pleased with it.

Double like! This mould definitely needs a hand + weapon upgrade kit.

Credit to my pal Luke at Sensei customs.
I sprayed the forearms, shoulder panels, parts of the leg, blue torso parts and head black, took those parts to TFNation with me and he swapped them with Severo Core. He then added teal and red details and a couple of 'con faction reprolabels. He added the hands later and this is the finished result.
He confirmed it holds the weapons like a champ too and doesn't affect transformation at all.

Maketoys hands with a wrist swivel would improve the old Steelcore mould immensely.
A friend of mine has used a pair of KO MP Prowl hands on his custom Darkcore and they look and function far, far better.
In fact, as the plate holding the hand is only held in by the two screws holding the forearm together, an upgrade kit to change the hands for a new plate with a mushroom peg and a pair of hands wouldn't be hard for a 3rd party – even Fansproject themselves – to make and sell separately.

I honestly think it would be easier to cast a new wrist plate with a mushroom peg and new poseable hands (like striker manus) with a slot in the bottom.
