TakaraTomy Transformers Encore Unicron Revealed

Thanks to Hong Kong based retailer Loopaza Mega Store’s Facebook page, we received information on the release of the next figure in the Transformers Encore Toyline from TakaraTomy. It is none other than the Planet Eater himself, Unicron! According the post, this release of Unicron seems to be the version from the Japanese Series Mircon Legend (Also known as Transformers Armada outside of Japan). Encore Unicron is scheduled for release in December 2018, with a retail price of 20,000 Yen (Approximately 180.00 USD per current conversion rate). Unicron has had several coloring and figure iteration throughout history, so it is uncertain what the exact mold and paint scheme used in the release. Something tells me you really like the Legends Manga.

I made the mistake of getting Legends Windblade for my metroplex and that led to many others and… I wouldn’t argue them just publishing it all in a volume or two some day haha just to save the trouble!

It's a really nice color scheme actually. They didn't just slap some green paint on him and called it a day. There are like 4-5 different shades of green that all work really nice together.

Old Armada Unicron really shines in this new green deco. And that boxart is good. But at $140 and having owned this mold twice now I am gonna have to pass.

Still wondering why this got an Encore release rather than being an LG-EX exclusive (like Blue Big Convoy).

I really need to try Amazon Japan if that's what it came out to. I thought it was gonna go even with Amiami and it ended up being no better than a US retailer despite the prices not differing as much on Amazon JP itself preshipping.

Got billed by Amazon Japan for him. $134 shipped is not too bad a price in my opinion. Looks like he might be here this weekend.

I'm surprised every time they go back to Armada Unicron, with the number of times past releases have been clearanced.

The Takara one didn't go on clearance and I'm sure that any prospected lower sales numbers have been compensated for with the increased price.

Well my Primus is orange, so of course my Unicron must be green :lol 

Actually, Primus was a gift from my brother. It was a TRU Exclusive he managed to grab for me after TRU started their going out of business sale.

I couldn't have one without the other, so I bought this Unicron. I actually really like the green coloring on him.

I always thought this mold was kind of terrible, clear back to Armada. The proportions always reminded me of a kid in football pads, and the alt mode was so terrible I can’t even count it as one.

It was actually Armada Unicron that really got me collecting Transformers seriously. Then again it was way better (imo) than the G1 bricks I grew up with.

I do agree, this mold needs to go bye-bye and Takara/Hasbro needs to get off their lazy ass and come up with something new! Come on, they can come up with the Titan BS figures, I know they can do Unicron and all his glory!

The question is, do Hastak think they can sell a Titan-class planet-former? I suppose they could could throw in a base mode as well.

If I was Hasbro, I'd create a 'Unicronian' faction of toys, figures with distinct Unicron-like details. Maybe even make some of them combiners, as well (actually, I wouldn't mind a Titan Unicron combiner made up of his various minions). Build up the hype, and then release their boss/planet/playset.

I suppose they could then follow that up with a Titan Primus.

I wish they'd at least recolored Unicron's old character art but nonetheless that is a gorgeous looking box. I'm glad I actually bit on this even if it clearances later. Still low key hoping they do a leader Nemesis Prime/Scourge at some point out of the old super base Convoy.
